I kept seeing Taculichi all over Instagram, so I had to try it--especially now that they opened a brick-and-mortar spot in South Gate where the old Pescador used to be. Let me just say... this place lives up to the hype. The food is straight up rich, beefy, and full of flavor. Everything just makes sense. From the first time I came, I found my order and haven't switched since--that's how good it is. I always go with the quesadilla mixta (solid mix of their meats), and I'll add a tortilla dorada with cheese and cabeza. That combo doesn't miss. Even got my wife--who's usually just a asada-only type--to start messing with cabeza here. That says a lot. Everything comes together with the consomé, onions, cilantro, and their sauces. The flavors actually complement each other instead of overpowering--nothing feels random or thrown together. I usually take it to go since I live close, but every time it's consistent. They open early too (around 7am), so it's clutch if you're trying to get something heavy and satisfying before the day gets going. I love cabeza and I've only had it in a taco. I've never had it in its own juice like soup. So when I saw them on Instagram months ago, I knew had to stop by eventually. It's just been hard since they close at 3pm. Today I had time while coming home from church. The place was packed and there was a couple people in line to be seated. If you just want to order to go, you can just go inside and order with the cashier. I was ordering to go, so I went inside to place an order. They don't have a physical menu, only a QR code. The menu isn't that big, so it was easy to look online. There's an extra charge if you pay with card, so have some cash on you if you want to save some money. I got an order of cabeza which comes in like a 16oz container, cilantro, onions, limes, green and red salsa, and freshly made tortillas. It was full of flavor and so glad I finally tried it.
