Lets get right to the food shall we. * Jarritos Taco - Its definitely flavorful. I did enjoy the meat. Its nice and tender. So are the accompaniments. 8.3/10   * Tinga Tickle Taco - The spice on the jerk chicken is present. Its just on the dry side. Other than that its a solid tinga taco. 7.8/10   * Baja Fish - The crunch if great, the flavor of the fish is present. Coleslaw on it is really strong. I adore this fish taco. 8.8/10   * Shreded Chicken Nachos - The chicken is a little dried out, but it is plentiful. All the flavors and sensations were on point. Actually a strong plate of nachos. 8.6/10 The setting is nice and intimate. Service is superb and I would highly recommend. ZERO ! Food was awful... please don't go there! If you want Mexican food you would do better at Taco Bell than Cabeza Grande! Taco's were too salty and what's up with the Cole slaw...who does that at a Mexican establishment! The place has amazing artwork by one of their staff. We wish they offered a smaller portion of guac and chips than the $17 bowl. I ordered beef and pork taco, he ordered Diablo and fish taco with beans and rice on the side. Meal came to about $70. Service was great. Would recommend! read more

So I just wanna start off by saying I really didn't look into the restaurant I was going to but brace yourself for this one first of all it's a Mexican restaurant and they have coleslaw on the menu which is weird but I didn't think much of it so we order I got 2 el pastor tacos and I got my son a kids quesadilla and my mom got 3 carne Asada tacos and so the food took at least 25 to 30 mins and we were the only ones inside and I wasn't really tripping about it taking so long but it finally came and I took one bite and it was the worst taco I've ever tasted in my life my mom took a bite and said the same thing so I told the waitress I'll pay for the taco I bit into but I won't be paying of the other 2 that I didn't touch my mom said the same thing so they were supposed to take off 4 tacos but they said that they could only take off 2 tacos because we had the same issue which is the tacos being nasty and too salty and the supervisor said we couldn't get all 4 off because that wasn't a genuine issue and then my mom said it's doesn't even taste like Mexican food( she full Mexican from Mexico) and then the supervisor said and I quote "we are not a Mexican restaurant we just sell tacos" how goofy do u have to be to say sum like That but overall the restaurant is trash and bad service I usually don't write reviews about restaurants but this restaurant is really not worth it and had to let the people know read more

Not sure why this place is rated so low. The hostess and wait staff were incredibly friendly and cheerful. The interior is small but fun. Ate here for lunch during a stop in Canmore. Well marked menu for those who are gluten free. Hubby ordered three tacos on corn tortillas: Durango steak, carne asada taco, Al pastor and a side of rice. He didn't care for the Spanish rice. He enjoyed the tacos. Our friend ordered three tacos on corn tortillas: Triple T (chicken tinga), en fuego (al pastor), carne asada. He really enjoyed it. I ordered guacamole with chips. Cute place, sound track was great, nice service, and clean restrooms. Great queso and street tacos, reminded us of street tacos in Texas. I was really looking forward to Cabeza Grande Tacos & Tequila. I love Mexican food, and the store decor looked wonderful, and the washrooms were clean. I liked the indoor and outdoor seating areas as well. There is a very good beer, (some bottle, some tap), and cocktail menu, The service was very good, (Thank You, Kenzie, great job!). Most importantly, I am afraid I found all of the dishes under-seasoned. Not just the complete dish, but the individual components as well. The beans, rice and coleslaw were really flat. So were the Alberta beef and pork, and the smashed guacamole was just sad. Hey, the chips were good. I really wish I had checked Yelp first ... I would have been warned off. Lesson learned. Even on a cold day, the blended margarita here was a lip-licking delight. Covid precautions were taken and we were not nervous to eat-in. The taco platter was a great value with hearty portion's. The fish taco's didn't blow my skirt up although the ingredients were fresh and beautifully presented. The Al Pastor taco on the other hand tasted like MOAR, and I'd like to try the Carne Asada next time. Our table could not come to a consensus on which item - the coleslaw or beans - was oddly mismatched in heat. ie. Instead of providing refreshment did the coleslaw add to fire, as some felt? I'd return for the margarita's alone, but the great decor, quality service and 'tasty food with potential' provide even more reason. The patio looks like it would be gorgeous in summer. read more

I came to the restaurant on a Tuesday and I will definitely be back to give them a second chance! The Queso dip was good and my taco was good ... but the margarita was not good ! First of all, my margarita didn't come out until my food came out and the margarita was just way to salty for some reason. This place is AWESOME! Who expected tacos this great in the middle of Canada! The drinks were delicious and the food was incredible.The whole staff including Mark (The Weekend Guy) were flawless. Food: Queso Cervezo / $13.50 Cheddar-beer dip with candied jalapenos & pico de gallo served with crispy tortillas Tres Tacos: 3 traditional soft tacos with onion, cilantro & salsa verde / $15.50 - we got the same ones - Carne Asada, Chicken Tinga, Al Pastor Kids Quesadillas / $7.50 Crispy tortilla stuffed with marble cheddar. Kiddo loved her Quesadilla and gobbled it up. The Queso Cervezo was awesome - the candied jalapenos are excellent. I could eat a whole bowl of those. Our tacos were okayyyyyyy. First time for pickup at the Cochrane location- the interior of the restaurant looks great and I can't wait to dine in. Got the grande nachos, as for whatever reason it is impossible to come by nachos for takeout and I was having nacho withdrawals. I added a protein, and picked chicken. I have to say, I wasn't sure what to expect however the smell in the car was pleasant and I was excited to open the box. The order is large (as expected) but even between two of us, we weren't able to finish it all. The box is full of toppings and tons of nucleus chips. Even if you didn't add protein, there would be absolutely sufficient toppings. Well dispersed, lots of cheese, and the black beans are a personal favourite. The lime crema is superior to plain old sour cream and the pico de gallo wasn't runny, which I appreciate. Overall, really pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed what was supposed to be a snack as a meal. read more

The server said the fish tacos are very popular and now understand why....DELICIOUS! . The restaurant is nicely decorated and the 3 tacos come to $15.50 the 3 taco special. The restaurant is clean, light and airy! The server recommended the Valentino hot sauce-perfect combination of flavour and hot spice. Unlike most hot sauces it's not just about the heat. Overall, great pick definitely telling friends and family about this place. Great food and great service! Decided to try the Salted Caramel Cheesecake $8. Really delicious! Both servers are outstanding. Alberta restaurant owners could learn a lot from these two about customer service!!!! This was the perfect place which offers inside and outside dining with great mountain views After short 15 minute wait we were seated inside to a comfortable atmosphere with great selection of beverages. We ordered the guacamole appetizer, fish, Jamaican jerk and pork tacos which were very tasty and nicely garnished. Our server was originally from Montreal and super friendly. I also had a margarita which was delicious and not too sweet. It was a bit chilly so we sat inside and I felt safe, as an MD, bringing my 5 month old in. They have done a great job with physical distancing through Covid-19. Bonus: I was pleasantly surprised to find a large single person bathroom with a well-maintained change table. Was intrigued by a Mexican restaurant in the mountains. The only disappointing part about this place is it's size! It's way to small. Staff are absolutely awesome.
