Salsa, sour cream, guacamole
Ceci L.

Definitely not a Mexican restaurant, I'd say it's more of a pub. Their Mexican food takes up like 10% of their menu. Staff is friendly but didn't have much menu knowledge. We received 15% off our takeout order by checking in on Yelp. I asked how big the chicken enchiladas were and the bartender said it's a decent size with 3 pieces. When I opened my takeout box i was wondering why they called this dish enchiladas. They looked more like frozen taquitos that were microwaved and thrown under a bed of shredded lettuce. The "enchiladas" comes with salsa, sour cream, guac, Spanish rice & refried beans. I'd say the sides are more edible than the main. We were here on Wing Wednesday and ordered their special: 1lb wings + draft beer for $10.99. They advertised 13 flavours but couldn't tell us which flavours they had and didn't have it written on their wing menu so we went with our fave: honey garlic. The wings were actually not bad. It was a decent size and came with a side salad (lettuce, red onion, yellow pepper). I would not come here again, but if you must dine here, DO NOT order any of the dishes under their "Mexican Corner."

We loved the food, the drinks, great service, and the dessert was delicious! We had the ice cream trio and the ice cream nachos.

My favorite breakfast in Banff, just because of the ham - bone in ham steak from a local supplier is not overly salty and super tender. Worth a trip!

Like any restaurants that we go to, the crowd usually follows us. We entered with just one couple inside but soon after us it got crowded. The drinks/ cocktails menu was decent and the service was pretty fast. The bartender gave us good suggestions on margaritas & lager beer. The plantains chips & guacamole was the highlight of the night. Novelty of an appetizer idea. Butternut squash ravioli and cheese quesadilla were simply yummy . Must visit for anyone in Banff, whether you are in a mood for Mexican food or not. Am sure going back next time I am around.

Reasonably costed and pretty tasty. Enjoyed and would eat there again but didn't have anything so special that would make me seek it out.

Meh... wasn't amazing. Service was wonderful but food was mediocre at best. Not really a Mexican restaurant either and played off music.

The flavor was not bad but they really skimped on the amount of toppings. For what these cost, you deserve better. I also tried their Caesar Salad. Could have used more dressing but it was a good salad. Service kind of fit in with the food. While my back was turned to the room, I believe there was only one person for much of our visit trying to do it all. Interactions were businesslike, and there was a delay in paying.

The wine bar is located on the mezzanine level. I was able to easily make reservations on open table. The bar is small but it is sooo romantic and classy. The music set a nice vibe and our sommelier Dana was so friendly and welcoming. She gave us great recommendations and even walked me to the bathroom. She also gave us the best table in the place, looking out to the garden! Loved her! You can build your own charcuterie board by picking the amount of cheese and charcuterie you want. I'm vegetarian so my friend and I went with 2 cheeses and the rest of the assorted snacks are provided. It was sooo yummy. The jam and nuts were delicious. We just had the best time and cannot recommend this wine bar enough :-).

Perfectly cooked, insanely flavorful, and worth every dollar. It's also dope that they let you choose your own steak knife, which adds to the whole experience. The sides were just as good: the milk bread is dangerously good, the broccolini is cooked perfectly, and the potatoes are rich and comforting. Service was outstanding. Adam was hands-down a big reason the night was so good -- he helped with drink recommendations, set the tone, and really tied the entire dinner together. And do not skip dessert -- the 1888 Sundae is absolutely worth it. I could honestly eat two by myself. Great food, great service, would 100% come back.

We ordered the scallop dish which arrived quickly but it's not a filling dish. While we were waiting, we decided to order the milk bread so that we could eat it while we wait for the main course. The milk bread also took long to arrive though. I like that they can make any drink here. This place had the best espresso martini I tried while I was in Banff. They just can't make a pina colada because they don't have a blender. I highly recommend the ribeye. You get a lot of meat for what you pay and it was delicious. There's not a strict dress code enforced. You can dress up or be casual. I wouldn't recommend dressing too casual but I did see people arrive in very casual outfits such jeans, knit sweaters and a santa hat.

This was our last restaurant that we had the pleasure of visiting in Canmore, and we definitely ended up saving the best for last. I chose this restaurant as the spot to celebrate my boyfriend's 30th birthday because I wanted it to be special and it definitely delivered! First off, the service at this spot is impeccable. They truly hire professional, genuine, skilled, and crafty people here who really care about food and the experience. It was very telling and we wanted to highlight that observation. Secondly, the cocktails. During our trip, we were lucky to have Josh as our bartender and not only did he truly know the ins and outs of the liquor and the ingredients that he used, you can tell that he has really perfected the craft at creating a beautifully presented cocktail, and this was already noticed by the way he cuts an orange. The cocktails here were basically like an art piece and had some of the most creative presentations I've ever seen. My cantaloupe island cocktail even had an herb popsicle in it and the after noon cocktail had mint sorbet incorporated into the presentation too, which was none like I've had before. Food-wise, they start you with a complimentary palette cleanser, which was a mini donut topped with fennel and caviar, which was exquisite and enhanced the experience. We then chose the foie gras, root salad, and mackerel as our smaller dishes and the duck and cod as our main course dishes. I swear to you.. each dish that we tried, we looked at each other in awe because we were baffled that something could taste that wonderful and look so aesthetically pleasing at the same time. Our favorite was the cod main course, which happened to be the newest menu item at the time. We also got the baked alaska for dessert since we wanted to complete the entire course, and that was beautifully presented and flavorful as well. The main chef/owner, Danny Beaulieu, and his team absolutely killed everything on this menu, and we were even able to meet with the owner and to speak with him during our visit here. It was a truly lovely experience and we are big time rooting for the restaurant's success. We are really thankful that we were able to experience Ankor and appreciate the love, care, and effort put into this spot. We will definitely see you again and hope to be back soon! :)

The wait staff was pleasant knowledgeable and accommodating. We were in a large party so we had a semi private dining area. Their specialty cocktails were great and very appealing to the eye in regard to the presentation upon delivery to the table. Very well put together flavour notes hit. The noise level in the restaurant was perfect for socializing so no complaints there. We did have a large party which probably pushed the kitchen staff a bit because some of the plating of a few dishes came out and were not complete ( 2out3 dishes came missing some plating components) when we made a comment to the waiter he went to investigate. They realized the issue and made a course correction on our bills which was appreciated. I hade the pork chops and I'll say the plating presentation was good but the quality of the the chops not so much, now I've worked in the industry in the past so I usually give a wide birth when it comes to the doneness of my proteins. But these were over cooked or seemed to have been cooked from a frozen state because they were dry as an Alberta summer. Not to mention tough and for that reason is why I'm only giving a 3 out of 5. Pork chops should be cooked through but full of juice these definitely missed the mark. The other components of the dish were great cooked proper with a perfect balance of seasoning. I'd come stop in again if I was in town but I'd probably wouldn't get the chops again.

The wait staff was very friendly and informed us that they sold off the main restaurant area to Brokin Yolk and just use their kitchen in the evenings. High end prices for a restaurant with very little ambiance. I think they should focus on catering.
