Didn't get to use the charcoal "park grill" that was added since our last visit but it looked like it has potential to make a great meal. "Next time!" Staff is friendly and goes to lengths to make sure you feel welcome and that your stay is comfortable. Wifi at the cabin was helpful in locating things to do in the area since there's no cell service. We kept the electronics to a minimum and enjoyed the beauty the area has to offer. The highlights of our stay were the hike to the top of Crabtree Falls, the beach fun at Sherando Lake and the visit to Wild Wolf Brewery for dinner and corn hole. Can't wait to book our next stay at what the kids have dubbed "our cabin in Virginia!" Lol!

Logwood - Renter Beware!!!…read more Video/pictures are carefully presented to not depict what you will be truly getting. If you are looking for a private cabin in the woods with easy access to a creek right outside the back door, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU. - The cabin is located on a well-traveled road, not off the beaten path via the gravel drive depicted. - There are two additional homes right next door - a big rating of 0 for privacy. - The inside is extremely small (which was ok), but the photos do not accurately depict what is there. The full size washer/dryer (in the kitchen) is overkill in this little space , no cute table & chairs; instead an ugly bar thing. The furnishings are more than a little worn; look like they came from a bad second-hand store. - Bath is ok; no shower. - Upstairs is a one room loft. The video depicts 2 full size beds, the written description states 3. Which is it? Three beds and dressers, which makes for very little space to even move around. I can't imagine 6 adults sleeping up there. - If you are disabled or elderly, you will not be able to enjoy the creek in the back as one must navigate a steep vertical slope down/up. And, I mean steep! - While the cabin is set up to sleep a hand full of people, the size is truly for no more than 2 - even three would be pushing it. - As we didn't stay, I can't really comment on the kitchen (it "appeared" adequate) or the condition/comfort of the beds. We wanted to get away from it all, not be sharing our time with the neighbors next door and not be able to enjoy the creek and surrounding woods. Suffice it to say, people do not pack up with 2 large dogs, fill up with gas (which is not cheap these days), and travel for several hours only to turn around and leave. While we were offered to try another cabin, we declined in that we really didn't want to deal with folks who had been so deceptive from the get go and continued to place the blame on us since we didn't investigate the property on Google Maps. Really!!! We were offered a 50% refund, of which we only received a portion. We should have been refunded 100% for the pet fee charge and the arm load of fire wood we purchased, plus an error in their math when initially charging us. As far as I'm concerned, we should have been refunded for every penny.

While we knew the place had some old-time feel to it, there were some things that were a bit unexpected such as the bathroom door not closing and the TV being broken. The thing is that we weren't there to watch TV so that was minor (and clearly can be easily replaced). We found out quickly that when something goes wrong, the team in the Mark Addy will go far out of their way to try to accommodate you to the best of their ability. Without losing a step we were given access to an additional room in the event that we were too warm in the Kensington. We took advantage of that one night, it was not even necessary the second night so it was hardly an issue. In the evenings there was sangria provided, which was not only delicious but a really nice touch. By the second night we were already looking forward to it! What can't be overstated is how delicious the included breakfast is. I honestly was expecting the typical continental type breakfast. I was very mistaken. Their menu is creative, fresh, and absolutely delicious. It was more of a treat than it was just a meal. Overall, the place is an old-ish inn with some character. You're not going to find some modernized place and, yeah there are some quirky things that could be fixed. However, it's a whole FEEL that you get from this place and the view from the front is gorgeous. Add that to the quality of the treatment and food and I think you have a solid winner. I'm grateful for our great experience and that the Mark Addy went out of their way to make sure were were comfortable and happy!

Bottle of wine and candy left on the dresser. This B&B is privately owned for 13 years as of this writing. All the staff were very nice and accommodating. Ok, Baby, the parrot(?) wasn't always friendly until you give it a pet on the back of the neck :-) This was my first experience staying at a B&B so be aware some of my comments may not apply to you the reader. My first feeling was a little discomfort about staying in someone's house but the staff make you feel pretty welcomed. Breakfast is served at 9am and is a set menu which is understandable considering there's only 1 or 2 working the kitchen and dining area. Just to give you an idea of the servings, the common theme was a good healthy and hearty breakfast starting with either a fruit bowl or yogurt then a dish with eggs, meat and a carb. The meal always held until around 2pm or so. And in the evening there was always a plate of chocolate chip and white chocolate chip cookies along with a pitcher of some good sangria in the fridge in the common area kitchen. The room was very comfortable with a small flat screen TV and a couple of chairs in addition to the comfortable bed. The bathroom in the room was on the small side but very usable. Although the place is just off the main highway leading into Nellysford, it was over 30 mins from the big city in Charlottesville, so your choices for lunch and dinner were limited unless you went to the big city. If winery/meadery/distillery/brewery/cidery tours is your thing, they have plenty close by. I would recommend a stop at Hill Top winery/meadery just up the road. Overall, I would definitely recommend it. And if you decide to stay, give Baby a pet on the back of the neck and say "hey!" Just don't stick your finger in too quick or it may not come back to you! :-)

The fact is the general manager and manager of this hotel have zero honor and will literally steal your money to meet their hotels quota. Hope it was worth the $150. I gave the management multiple opportunities to do the right thing. Do not trust this hotel with anything. If any business is willing to steal from you and then lie to you, there is nothing they are not willing to do. I stay at hotels over 100 days a year and never has something like this happened. The service was great, a nice greeting when I checked in and the staff was friendly throughout the stay. Special shout out to Ginny at the front desk for her stellar service. The location is inviting, and my king bed & room with outside entry was spacious and clean. The room had all the Hampton amenities including a nice size TV, microwave, mini fridge, iron and full size ironing board, and a coffee maker. The bed was comfortable, and the room had a nice lounge chair. There was plenty of parking, and my room was in the back of the hotel (by the cabin) and the area was quiet and relaxing. The property has a lot of charm, especially the historic Cabin built in the mid-1700s, it catches the attention and is used as a special events space. The main house, Col Alto, is a beautiful Georgian-style brick home dating back to 1827. Both are rich in history and make the stay even more unique. I would absolutely stay here again and hear the historic rooms with bath tubs are the rooms to reserve. I was most pleased with the Kind bed & room.

It was super clean, with a nice, cozy bed and comfortable, bougie amenities, including the shower you'd see at the St. Regis (open shower with a rain showerhead and sprayer). The private hot tub on the deck overlooking the mountains is gorgeous. I watched the sunset from my deck. I also discovered there's a washer/dryer in there in addition to a microwave and a fridge. So it's like a bougie version of a Residence Inn. Also, since I'm in my own cabin, I didn't hear anything from the outside unless I was outside. The property is beautiful. It has some small on-site hiking trails that take about 20-30 minutes. The clubhouse has an AMAZING chef-cooked breakfast in the morning that's included in your stay rate, and the on-site manager is so nice. They also put sparkling water and Fiji water in your fridge for free. You're also near the cute town of Staunton, which has gift shops, glass art (and glassblowing if you want to try), a historic railway, a high point city view (Sears Bridge), book shops, and restaurants/cafes. It's good to spend a few hours. There's no dinner on-site at the inn, but I went to the nearby Blue Mountain Brewery, which gets very popular. I hope you have a wonderful time here, and I HIGHLY recommend it.
