This so called contractor is a fraud !!!!! Another name he uses is "cabinets by Stan " Do not use him he is unreliable and most importantly he does not pay and has been scamming customers and subcontractors for years !! I read his reviews and this man has so many complaints and claims on his bond from other contractors for no payment. He is going out of business soon and he is trying to scam everyone he can before his business finally falls. You would think that an 87 year old man would know how to run his business and be serious but he is just a thief !! He owes my company $4,500 and I am going to sue this man. Do not use this company. They refaced my cabinets white and within a year the paint is chipping off everywhere. Stan over promises and under delivers. We have texted him a dozen times and he never shows up. Now we are going to court to get our money back. He is a scam artist. Since a picture is worth 1000 words I have attached pictures of the cabinets and the paint that is chipping off. Stan finally came back after multiple attempts to get him to come back and he brush painted over the chips and the color doesn't match. Run, don't walk away from this company. They did a decent job but my expectations were not met with how they sold it. After refacing my cabinets many of the blemishes on the original boxes were not repaired to new before painting those. What i realized after is what i was looking for were new cabinets in reality but I made my decision to save money. It turns out after further inquiring about the differences for a different customer on a different project is that new cabinets would have only been about 1000 more than the 14k to refinish what was there. We have used DCbS twice now when were selling our old house to freshen up the kitchen and bathroom cabinets. They did an excellent job on the work and the house sold in less than 3 days. DCbS definitely helped in that process. When we found new new house the previous own had painted the kitchen cabinets twice themselves and it was not done correctly. DCbS did a fantastic job on refinishing the cabinets. We have and will continue to recommend them to anyone that needs to have their kitchen cabinets refinished. read more

Just a follow-up... We have tried countless times to resolve this issue with Stan per his request but he keeps giving us the runaround. He wants us to first remove our negative Yelp review and then assures us he will pay us back the money he basically stole from us! If he truly wanted to work with us and make things right he would have given us our money back right away but instead he prefers to make excuses. So we filed a complaint with the CSLB and a claim with his bond company. Believe me, this is stress and nonsense we do not need! And, by the way, Stan likes to reply to negative reviews by saying he never did any work for the person posting the negative review. He also goes by numerous company names (e.g. Dream Cabinets by Stan, etc.). So be very careful who you hire. It might just end up being this person under the guise of a different name. We recently remodeled our kitchen and after quite a bit of research found Dream Cabinets by Stan. We appreciated the no nonsense approach from Stan and his estimate was incredibly reasonable. The absolute worst experience with any contractor I've ever had. BAD attitude POOR workmanship TERRIBLE SERVICE. I started in February and wasn't finished when I fired him in July for two small baths and a kitchen. I paid the second installment for the doors and drawers in April and they didn't arrive until June. Everything he did that was wrong he claimed was a change that I made. The workmanship was horrible. I lost 30% of my storage space in the kitchen because he mismeasured. I finally fired him and brought in MENDOZA cabinets 760-670-5643 (Recommended by Fergusons) He was appalled at the poor workmanship. They had to completely redo the kitchen and now that I see the difference I understand what quality workmanship looks like. Stay away from this horrible contractor at any cost. His response is exactly as predicted there were no changes he is just the worst person to deal with and completely unprofessional. Look at the majority of other reviews all warnings and 1 star telling everyone to stay away. WE ALL CANT BE WRONG!! STAN IS A PEICE OF SHIT AND IM GOING TO DO EVERYTHING I CAN AT THE STATE LEVEL TO PREVENT HIM FROM CONTINUING TO DO TERRIBLE WORK AND RIP PEOPLE OFF. Just finished a renovation at our townhome in San Marcos which included refinishing our kitchen, bath and linen cabinets. I met with 4 different contractors and decided on Stan not because of price but rather because of his approach to refinish with poly urethane rather than lacquer. He takes a true professional cabinet maker approach and I very much respected his and his teams talents! Stan also had some great ideas for utilizing all the space in our cabinets by adding pullouts and lazy susan's and upgrades such as soft close hinges and adding handles/knobs. We went from dark cabinets to white in the kitchen and a grey on the baths and linen cabinets. Stan and his team were a pleasure to work with, worked through a sometimes chaotic schedule with multiple contractors on the various other projects going on during the reno and delivered an outstanding new look to our kitchen! We were looking to get our cabinets either refaced or refinished and got several quotes including from some big box stores. I ended up seeing an advertisement in a local home magazine for Creative Cabinet Finishes, and the pictures looked like the style we wanted. So, we decided to give Stan a call. He was great to work from the very beginning. He came out and looked at our kitchen, which had builder grade cabinets that were sprayed with a honey maple lacquer. The lacquer was in pretty terrible condition and was chipping in many places. The cabinet finish had also worn in the corners of the cabinets where the previous owners had touched them over the years. Stan explained the shortcomings of using lacquer and told us about the process he uses. He made us feel very comfortable and sent a quote later that day for us to review. We decided to have our cabinets refinished in a rustic Tuscan style. He was much less expensive than the quote we got from the big box stores, and his process was better than what they were going to do. We also got a similarly price quote from another business, but the other quote was only going to include spraying our cabinets with a darker lacquer, which would not have provided the look we wanted. The work that Stan does is all hand done and provides a look with texture, depth, and warmth unlike simply spraying the cabinets. We have received endless compliments on our kitchen cabinets when we have friends and family over. After the work was done Stan has called several times to ensure that we were satisfied and offered to touch up an areas if necessary. He also installed soft close cabinet devices and switched out some of our hinges so our cabinets would close better. Stan also left a touch up kit for us in case anything happens to the cabinets. I would do my homework before I hire Stan Ziolkowski, Dream Cabinets by Stan. The address of his shop on his web site is 3025 Oleander Ave San Marcos. We entered into a contract to refinish our cabinets. It too numerous try's to get it right over seven months. It was real difficult to get him to come back. His shop is not an actual shop. He operates out of his house in his neighborhood. It's not a controlled environment and all work is done outside under tents. He sprays these toxic paints in his garage and the fumes travel as the wind blows with an Elementary School close by. read more

We had Stan, from Cabinets Reborn, refinish our kitchen cabinets four years ago. We had just moved into our home, and the twenty-year-old cabinets were just awful. They were made of good hardwood, though, so we didn't want to have them re-faced. We just wanted them refinished. Stan was the only person we could find who did quality, old-world refinishing, and his prices were excellent. We were so happy with his work that we had him refinish the cabinets in all four of our bathrooms. Now, four years later, we just finished a kitchen remodel that included the installation of new (unfinished) cabinets, the removal of cabinets, leaving exposed, never-finished wood, and a lot of contractor damage to the finish on the existing cabinets. I didn't think it possible, but Stan has made my cabinets look better than ever! He touched up all the damaged areas and matched the finish perfectly on the new cabinets. My kitchen is gorgeous and, once again, his price was extremely fair. We've had a lot of contractors in our home over the past four years. Stan is the one contractor that we will give our key to, and let come into our home when we're not there. We know when we come home our house will be spotless, because he's so good about cleaning up at the end of his day. He's very honest and conscientious. His helper, Jose, is very good, too. Stan repainted our cabinets in May and June 2014. Our advice for anyone about to choose this person to work on your house is don't - bad news. He says he offers a warranty.....but when sometime is wrong his answer is it is our fault because of the color we selected. And the paint he used is soft, scratches easily, he was constantly behind schedule - he is long on promises and excuses and short on doing the right job. We had our kitchen cabinets and stair banister refinished back in June. Yes, they look great, BUT they were never finished. The majority of the job was done in June and Stan agreed to come back to touch up the stain and install the handles after our wood floor was completed. I have been calling Stan for two months and he rarely answers the phone and never returns my messages. The two times Stan answered the phone, he said he would be there to finish the job and both times he never showed up and did not call. Very unprofessional and rude. Also, we were told it was safe to leave our dishes and kitchen items in the cabinets and drawers while the work was being done. We now have speckles of stain on our dishes, silverware, and anything that was placed in the front of the cabinets or drawers. We are very disappointed with Stan. Can not say enough about Stan and his work. 2 years ago had to choose between redoing granite in kitchen and master bath or replacing cabinets to get darker, distressed Tuscan looking cabinets we wanted.. After talking to several cabinet contractors we found Stan who said he could work with existing cabinets without replacing them. With Stan's quote we were able to replace the granite we wanted and he transformed our existing hardwood cabinets into beautiful, dark, distressed cabinets as well as add embellishments to our island and end cabinets. I LOVE my kitchen and master bath. Stan and his helper Jose pay such attention to detail and do a high quality of work. They are also the best contractors we have had in or out of the house when it comes to cleanup. We just recently had Stan back to match a bookshelf and the rest of the cabinetry in the house we didn't do the first time. I am so happy with his work! And love my "new" cabinets.
