I finally tried this Chipotle alternate, and initially thought it was just a fast casual Mexican restaurant. In a lot of ways, I think it's better than Chipotle, but in some ways, it's not. For example, the servicing style and options are more along the lines of an uberrito, with fresh jalapeños. They offer grilled poblanos, not basic green peppers like Chipotle. Their steak is chopped in large chunks and has a nicer charcoal flavor due to the B&B charcoal they use during cooking. They advertise this fact at the front door when you walk in. Instead of the artisan juices at chipotle, they offer cane sugar sodas. Instead of having basic black tea, they offer a sweet mint tea. One item I felt they are behind the times is their sweetener for the tea. They offer just regular white sugar and artificial sugar, but no stevia packets or turbinado sugar packets. Overall, a pretty good alternative to the most popular build your own burrito places. read more

I really wanted to like this place!! I usually never write bad reviews but I was so let down with Cabo Bobs. I ordered a veggie burrito and SPECIFICALLY unselected any sautéed veggies but marked off getting sour cream, lettuce, pico de gallo, etc. They added in all those sautéed veggies anyway which ruined the taste of the burrito. Maybe bc the veggies took up the burrito they barely added any cheese or sour cream. My brother in law ordered a burrito too which we were confused when we looked in the bag bc it looked like a kids sized burrito even though that's not what we ordered. Won't be returning :( maybe the person making our burritos was new? but for the price and the items we received I'm very disappointed. read more

I stumbled upon this place at lunch time and I'm glad I did!!!! Chipotle and Freebirds have now been challenged and I must say Cabo Bobs has made me a fan. The general parking was decent. The inside was clean and did not have a rank or worn smell , even the bathroom was clean and approachable. The staff were nice and engaging (polite, approachable, and helpful). Now the EATS!!! I ordered the Cabo Bowl and it was on a higher level. So many options for toppings and the manager let me know that the ingredients were freshly prepared in-house. The taste was phenomenal!!!! On my bowl I had the zucchini/squash topping, brown rice, Cabo beans (homemade bean mixture), chicken, brisket, lettuce, shredded cheese, pico, cilantro, and a chipotle Baja sauce. The second you enter the door , it's a wonderful customer experience. The staff is friendly, the store's cleanliness is immaculate and everyone is there to serve. A real rarity in this day. Ms DeeDee looks over everything to make sure you're taken care of appropriately and sports her Texans apron with HUGE pride. Jeremiah , a managing partner, wearing his UT gear was super friendly and informative , even though I was decked out in Georgia Bulldog gear . This new burrito and taco restaurant recently opened in the Willowbrook Mall area in the old James Coney Island restaurant building and has its own parking lot. I ordered the #7 Best Steak Burrito for $11. Here it's like Chipotle where you go down the line and tell them how to build your burrito or taco meal. In this case my build was predetermined as my only optional decision was which tortilla to choose and I went with the smoky cheddar. Their burritos where you choose each ingredient are less expensive. My #7 was very good tasting and I enjoyed it. It was large and cheesy with the steak meat, rice, beans, onions, pico and queso inside. The tortilla fell apart before the end and the steak was a little chewy but I expected that. That smoky cheddar tortilla was nice tasting. Next time, I think I will try the #9 chicken burrito or a bowl. Cabo Bobs will give Chipotle a run for its money. I will come back. read more

First and foremost the manager Giovanni Hernandez is an absolute professional and is doing a great job here at Cabo bobs! Very professional young man! You all got the right guy running your place. That's for sure! He welcomed me in an explained the top sellers. I went with his suggestion the number 7. Hard to find good talent these days but you all have a winner here! He will be a great leader for this location. Food: the number 7 was excellent! I opted for half brisket and half steak. Which was absolutely amazing! The brisket is probably my favorite here for sure. Everything is very fresh and made to order. Even the Tortilla. Which I thought was prettty cool back to the food. The steak and brisket is a great mix and really good. They put a very tasty yellow queso on top which makes it that much more flavorful. They have several tortillas to pick from. All hand made to order. The chips and queso are really good too. The green salsa is very good to. I liked everything I got and plan on coming back. Service is great! They keep this place nice and clean too. Do yourself a favor and stop on in and give cabo bobs a try ! I'll definitely be back soon. read more

First time at Cabo Boba Burritos - concept is pretty cool with all the different combinations you can get. I'm fairly picky on what's inside my burrito so I typically stick to steak variety. I ordered the #7 best steak burrito. The assembly line ordering is pretty unique. I love how you are shown the burrito heat up process - cool tech back there. But here's where it could get confusing. There are plenty of workers working on 1 burrito down the assembly line. It could get quite confusing on who put what on the burrito so far, and also the level of portion. Some employees are generous on some items, others are very stingy. Would love a level of consistency. The food was ok, just like any burrito place, you'll leave full but nothing left me amazed to come back the same week. I would definitely try again in the future maybe after awhile the store has been open. read more

I absolutely love Cabo Bob! Since moving to the north side I now have to visit the closest location which is near Cypress. I love their burritos, quesadillas, nachos and their queso dip is some of the best that I have ever had. They have numerous variations of tortillas and you can also get a bowl. I also love Miss ma'am mint sweet tea. I love that this location has drive-thru so you can place your order online and go through the drive-through and pick it up or you can park in a space and they will bring it out. Everything is fresh and way more tastier than their competitor whose name starts with a C and ends with an E. read more

While I'm not at all impressed with their chips (too thick, tough, and salty), the rest of the meal makes up for it, and then some! The chicken was seasoned with an amazing seasoning that added not overpowered the tender juicy chicken chunks (and I mean chunks! LOTS of meat!) they have the best sautéed veggies hands down of any fast food burrito place I've ever been (that says something since I'm a top 1% customer for Chipotle). The Cabo beans mixed was flavorful and full of incredible taste - I could easily eat them as a bowl on their own. The nacho cheese was more liquidy than creamy, but acceptable. I wish I tasted more cheese than salt though (it's like gargling with salt water salty). The guac is really smashed avocado - not bad, but fresh squeezed lime and pico made it really good. Overall, really tasty first time experience. I'll be back, but now I know what to expect in terms of taste (and to be ready to have salt overload). One really nice thing is the abundance of friendliness from the workers! Talk about nailing customer service! Kudos to the manager and team! read more

This place really surprised me. I ended up getting some coupons in the mail from them and I pass by them going to work. I didn't expect much because it had this hippie vibe and I don't know how good hippie tacos could be. But then I got a brisket burrito bowl! I know I'm going to shock some people but the food here is way better than anything at chipotle. That brisket alone was so tender and delicious I also saved some to make burritos at home! I really would like to give this a 3.5 stars , but that is not possible. The concept behind Cabo Bobs is much like any of the other burrito shops around, with a unique catch that I honestly love when on point. You walk up to the counter and provide your order # or the make your own option. Here is where it is different and I believe can make the experience positive or negative. You choose your tortilla flavor, they press it and cook it in front of you!! No pre-packaged tortillas here. I observed many tortillas coming out with a perfect cook on them, getting slightly puffy, then immediately wrapped with your choice of toppings. I ordered an ancho chili tortilla with steak (#7 I believe). The first person added my basic meat and rice/beans, they also added caso, not sure why, it was not listed or asked for and quite frankly it took away from the burrito....and passed it off. They started to get a line and they started making things faster. It is only about a 10 foot long service area, but when I moved down to tell the next person what other stuff I wanted inside, they had it wrapped and moved down, they never asked me what I wanted in it. When I pointed it out, I got a death stare and an offer to unwrap by burrito and add the toppings I wanted. I was not happy at that point because when you start messing with the tortilla after it being wrapped , they tear and are never the same as a well wrapped burrito. I was surprised at the nastiness of the look and there was no questioning it, even the manager spoke to her after. I asked for some of the things I wanted on the side. When I sat down to eat, the tortilla was gummy, the caso that was randomly thrown on it really ruined the burrito, but since they wrapped it too soon, that was the only cheese I had on it. As I ate, they really use the rice as a bulker as it was dominant in the burrito. I would also like to see chips added, but that is an easy side item $ maker. The place itself was nice, clean and well kept. The line was pretty steady and moved along with most people being courteous. I am not sure what happened with my burrito and why I had my experience on this visit, but I do want to give them another opportunity to make sure it was not an isolated "bad day" incident. I honestly want to love this place as the concept of getting your tortilla made to order for your meal is something that would separate this place from the other places when executed well instead of a pre packed steamed tortilla. They also have a smoker-ceramic-grill (the red one, not the green one) visible that I would imagine has a lot of the proteins cooked on it. I will give it another try and update as appropriate. I do recommend trying it as there are many positive reviews, it just was not my experience on this visit. read more

It's good, but this is Texas, if you're making tacos and burritos they have to be great. Don't read this wrong, the fresh tortillas are fantastic. All the ingredients are pretty damn good. But I got the fried fish tacos, and it was sort of like they were pre-prepared and then fried. I like mine with less breading and more of a lite Baja feel. Their fresh made salsa is fantastic. All of the meats were really good. I just think I didn't like the way they did the fish for the fish taco. Maybe I should try grilled next time. read more

God bless Cabo Bobs. I used to go to the one in Austin when I was in college and was so happy to hear one had opened near me in Houston. You cannot go wrong with a #9 chicken burrito. Every single bite is delicious. I've also tried a bowl and quesadilla -- both of which are yummy but do not compare to the #9 *chef's kiss* The drive thru doesn't have a place to order until you reach the window so be prepared to wait. First visit . Food was good but the front of the place needs some TLC. Need someone working the dining area to keep it picked up. Trash cans overflowing, out of unsweet tea with 2 dispensers available . general cleanliness in the dining area. With that in mind, I worry what the back of the house looks like. What I liked about the food is the combination of ingredients for certain dishes. These are flavors I'd not think to put together in a taco and was very good. Came here with my husband for dinner on a week night and while my husband enjoyed his burrito, I was left a little unimpressed by my tacos. When you go inside and look at the menu it is very similar to other places where you can build your own burrito, tacos, bowls or salad with their own little twist. I was excited to see fish tacos on the menu and decided to try the number 3. I think some of the staff is new as they guy getting my tortillas ready made the wrong tortillas but the other staff members jumped in to help fix his mistake. And overall all the staff was very friendly. My husband got a brisket burrito and really enjoyed it but said his tortilla did not taste like ancho chile. My fish tacos were very wet, not sure if it was from the salsa they put on or if the cabbage had something on it but the tortillas didn't hold together well. I use to come here at least 5 times a week, for the fresh veggies and delicious Baja fish. I love the variety flavors of tortillas and everything that I've tried taste really good. The staff are teenagers trying to make a living and they're friendly, I wish I could say the same for the older male staff (Uriel - no name tag on his shirt), he need to LEARN how to smile AND be friendly to the guest. After all if we were not coming in there wouldn't be a need for them to be at work. The only now downfall now is the manager had discounted the military discount if you're not in uniform. At night or the weekends, I have to go home to get in uniform just to get a discount. REALLY!?! I think not, this just goes to show, he doesn't appreciate the military service, so I'll go else where to patronize the other times during week/end. read more

This is our second visit and first time to dine in. The food is delicious and the service is great. They are very well staffed with friendly highly trained staff ready to serve.
