My wife and I had dinner at Cabo's on on Spout Spring Road last night and we loved it. We're new to the area and have been eating at different Mexican restaurants trying to find a good one. We've been mostly disappointed with Mexican restaurants in this south Hall county area, but we finally hit the jackpot at Cabo's. This is hands down the best Mexican restaurant we've tried. Cabo's is a very colorful, clean, and well laid out restaurant, with plenty of room so you don't feel so jammed in. It's also nicely decorated with big bright pictures and paintings. The staff was very friendly and courteous. We've visited some in the area where the staff was downright surly. Our waiter, Hector, did a great job. He brought us drink refills, napkins, extra chips without us having to ask for them. Very attentive! Now for the really important part - the food. It wasn't the typical Tex-Mex we've come to expect. There were no Speedy's, #4's, etc. They actually had some Mexican dishes I've had while traveling on business in Mexico (not tourist food). Plus, the food was delicious. It was prepared well and presented very nicely. Another important part - the Margarita was delicious - and it actually had Tequila in it! Some places serve you a LOT of Margarita mix with as little Tequila as possible. This one was excellent. I understand there is another Cabo's in Buford, so we'll try that one too, but we've finally found a great Mexican restaurant! We'll definitely be back for more good food and uno mas Margarita por favor. read more

This place is sold 3.5...We ordered the fajitas. They were tasty on a hot platter and pleasant. The atmosphere clean and is loud and festive for a Wednesday. The Service was good!! .. BUT ...they didn't tell us.. if you want a side of salsa Verde it's an extra $1. 25 and if you want extra tortillas it's $3. Now there's nothing wrong to charge people, but you need to tell them before you charge them. No surprises!! So..Over All... I like the place and will come back Recommended for sure!! ! read more

I ate at this location Sept 7, 2026. My waiter brought me the wrong meal. I decided to eat it rather than sending it back. I don't like to send back food for multiple reasons. The beef burritos did not taste good. The meat tasted old. I couldn't stomach it. It went uneaten. Then, someone at a nearby booth had ordered fajitas. It came out of the kitchen burnt and smelled so bad that everyone at my table had to get up and leave the restaurant. The stench was nauseating. We asked the (very young) server if he could get our waiter to come by so we could pay our tab. He replied, "I don't know who your waiter is!" in a very annoyed tone, giving us a disgusted expression and walked away. I can understand that he was busy putting orders on everyone's tables but I don't think he handled that well. He seemed maybe 15 years of age and lacked experience in the customer service industry. I just wish it was better. Ordered a queso with jalapeños and a side of flour tortillas. Came out with no jalapeños and a side of corn tortillas that were rubber, couldn't even rip them in half. Asked for jalapeños to add to queso and pickled slices were brought out. Ordered a steak quesadilla and a chicken one was brought out. Took another 10 minutes for a steak quesadilla to come out. Was never spoken to by a manager or felt like anything was made "right" when everything came out wrong. Wouldn't necessarily recommend. read more

A few weeks ago we ordered the family pack of steak fajitas and the steak was so chewy, it was inedible. We thought we'd give them another try and the tacos were soggy, the chips were stale, the Mexican rice had a weird taste to it and the $13 hand-made guacamole was grayish, not fresh. $108 completely wasted. read more

I'm not one to leave bad reviews, but after coming back to Cabo's after a long hiatus (6-7 years) it doesn't seem like the same restaurant. The entrees are good but do NOT get queso or guacamole. A small kid sized queso is 7 dollars and their small kids guacamole (also $7) is just soupy mashed avocado. My wife, myself, and my 1 yr old (shared fajitas with my wife) had a $75 bill with no alcoholic drinks. Hope this turns around and prices come down read more

Little Mexican restaurant we decided to try while waiting on the kids to finish their HOCO dinner across the street. This one was kind of a cross of an El Sombrero and a La Parilla. Basically kind of middle tier Mexican restaurant, so a better quality meat and tortillas, but not sky high prices. We of course tried the queso. It was good. Not too thick, but too thin. Chips were good as well. Nice and crunchy and can hold some weight. I don't dip salsa, I scoop (as you should), so I appreciate chips that don't crack under pressure. For an entree we split the tacos with steak and chorizo (I forgot the name of the dish and I am too lazy to go look it up, so if you want to know, look it up yourself...sorry not sorry). They were delish. Tortillas held up, meat had a good char, but wasn't burnt and the salsa that came with it was lovely. The accompanying beans were ok, but nothing special. All in all I enjoyed this place. I wish there was a way to add a half star because I think it is deserved, but I don't think it was 4 star worthy, but definitely check them out! read more

We just ordered a family pack to go last week for a lazy taco night at home. It was advertised to serve 4-5 people and was a value meal for under $50 dollars and was enough for 6 adults to be extremely full. Since we had two adults and two children we had ample leftovers for a couple days. The food was ready in time and hot and delicious when we got it home. Moved to area recently and am in dying need for a new Tex/Mexican go to spot. I came in and was very hopeful due to the atmosphere and vibes it presented. I daydreamed about getting wasted here with their margarita flight but was quickly awoken when I had a taste of their chile relleno special. A chile relleno is a stuffed bell pepper right? What I got was a small square piece of bell pepper covered in a bunch of cheese and some meat. Instant stomach ache. When the plate came out it looked worse than prisoner's lunch, a slap of refried beans and glop of a cheese concoction (chille relleno). I really wanted to like this place so I ordered the steak tacos to try to salvage my lunch. Right away I noticed the steak was not cut against the grain so it was probably going to be the toughest steak tacos I'll eat. It ended up not being too tough but could be more tender. The flavor was good but the dish came with no taco toppings, just the option of Mex rice or beans. Service was good, not too much interaction so take it with a grain of salt. I got very dirty utensils but ish happens all the time anywhere so not docking those points. I really wanted this to be my new Tex/mex spot but my search continues. Man that cheese concoction is killing my stomach I might not be able to grind through these steak tacos. Maybe a flight of margaritas can save the day. read more

I've been by here so many times and never stopped because I just dismiss it as a regular Mexican not real Mexican spot. A few of my friends however eat here often so I dropped by on a day off. Quiet clean atmosphere with friendly staff and a manager that was present. The menu options were pretty good (shoulda tried the Torta, you don't see that too often in this kind of Tex Mex place). I ordered shrimp in a "delicious cream sauce" because I'm a sucker for Shrimp. I knew I made a mistake but had to try it since it seemed different. The waitress assured me it was good and I made the right choice. SO disappointed. The shrimp were not de-vained. They were tasteless and horribly over cooked. My delicious sauce had no flavor at all leaving my poop shrimp the same. The rice was the same situation. No spice flavor nothing. I added salt and dumped my salsa on it. It was a let down but the amount of shrimp was nice. To make up for my ordering mistake I had to drink my weight in cheese sauce which did not disappoint! Again I probably wouldn't recommend eating here but it's very much the standard Mexican joint. Maybe try the Torta! read more

My husband and I visited this location for dinner tonight, along with my husband's service dog. Prior to being seated we were asked to provide a card as proof of him being a service dog. I educated the staff that there was no legitimate certification/card for a service dog and that it is against ADA policy to ask for one. The staff stated that they've seen emotional support animal cards presented in the past, and I advised them that an emotional support animal (ESA) is not the same as a service animal and does not have public rights protected by the ADA. The staff stated that they were only following what they have been told by management to say, I told them that was completely fine that we weren't upset I was just educating them. We were then walked to the very back corner of the restaurant, away from all other guests while passing multiple empty tables. At this point we decided to take our business elsewhere and left the restaurant, as we felt segregated and discriminated against. I called the manager on duty to educate him so that the staff could know what the legal ramifications were behind asking certain questions about service animals. I specifically said, "I just want to let you all know the ADA guidelines to prevent legal issues with another service animal." The manager would not allow me to speak and cut me off every time I attempted to inform him of the ADA regulations. He told me I did not know what I was talking about and that he knew everything he needed to know about emotional support animals. I attempted to educate him on the difference between service dogs and emotional support animals and he told me I was wrong, that his girlfriend has (or had) an emotional support animal so therefore he knew he was right. He told me I needed to educate myself. We have never had a bad experience at Cabo's, so the purpose of my review is to attempt to reach someone who is more levelheaded and open to being educated about the ADA regulations. Emotional support animals are not provided unlimited access to public places, as service animals are. Restaurants do NOT have to allow emotional support animals in, even with their ESA certifications. The emotional support animal certification falls under the fair housing act to allow ESA's reasonable accommodations in buildings that do not allow pets (for housing, not businesses). Restaurants are required to allow service animals in. Service animals do NOT have certifications, and if you've been shown one in the past it was fake. As a business you can ask the following questions: "Is that service dog required because of a disability" and "What work, or tasks is the dog trained to perform?" Businesses can NOT ask to see paperwork/certifications or a doctor's letter, they can NOT ask about the persons disability, they can NOT require special identification (including a vest). If the animal is not housebroken, becomes aggressive, or is not in control of the handler the business can ask that the animal be removed. Seems this is the place to go locally, but I'm just not into the slow service, inconsistent food, attentiveness. We have 3-4 Mexican on the corner and none are authentic Mexican. I guess for your Tex Mex fix, this will do. Biggest issue for me is service and time it takes to get in, get drinks get refills, eat and get out. Takes way too long. Have to rate it above others and there are a lot of locals at the bar that seem to be regulars. Prefer Tacos and Teqillas in Cumming or a great place in Buford that is authentic- Mexicana...? .. but think they may have closed. We could use an authentic Mexican in FB just waiting to find one. Poor service and rude waitstaff. Went there to eat lunch today at 11:15am. Sign at the door said they opened at 11am. Walked in and no one was in the front. Waited for five minutes till a lady walked out the back and said, "we are closed". I said the sign says you open at 11am. The lady replied, " we do not open till noon and to get out now". Do not recommend this restaurant unless you like being yelled at for being a paying customer. Take your business elsewhere. read more

The absolute most horrible dining experience EVER. When we complained about table salt on the rim of the margarita the manager, Eden, said the truck would be in tomorrow. When we jokingly said there was a Publix across the street, he told us to go get ourselves. He then stood across from the table and stared at us with his arms crossed with a mean look on his face. He continued this for quite a while. This was a table of seniors, most 70 years old. I felt very intimidated. My boyfriends order came put completely wrong, and my food was cold. The food is terrible and the service sucks. Only reason they get 1 star on here is because the beer is good. read more

AMAZING!!!!! We had Cabos cater our parents 50th anniversary party. Napoleon, the manager, is so fantastic. Excellent customer service and the BEST food ever!! we continue to get compliments from all the guests on the food - the best mexican we have ever had!! We had 80 people and there was more than enough food and it was all delicious! they even said if we run out, they would bring more, free of charge!! we did not run out, we had left overs! i can not say enough awesome things about Cabos and Napoleon and his staff! we eat here for dinner/lunch on a regular basis and will now be using them for catering for any and all future parties. Just moved to flowery branch last year and slowly making the rounds to the local restaurants. My family and I have tried a few Mexican places and have been disappointed with them all. Yes, this is what you would expect from a normal Mexican restaurant, good food (could use more seasoning), great chips and cheese dip and hit or miss on the salsa (I liked it). Wow! I had the Handmade Guacamole and the Chicken Rockefeller. They were both extremely tasty! The server recommended I get the chicken with cheese dip poured over it instead of the shredded cheese that regularly comes with it. What a great suggestion! Doesn't even deserve 1 star. Terrible food, horrible service. My friend and I went for lunch. I had a Speedy and she ordered a salad. My taco was dripping grease and the beans were cold. Her salad had iceberg lettuce, onion, cucumber and 1 slice of tomato. They didn't even bring her any dressing and I had to hunt down the server to get some. The employees were all huddled together in the bar area watching a soccer game. We were one of 3 tables in the whole place at lunchtime. Now I know why. Never going there again. read more

There are a few times in life when you just have to choke it down because you know that no one either understands English and/or they just don't care. My husband and I eat out quite often for lunch since we both work at home and it's our time to get out and have our "happy" hour. We used to go to Cabo's nearly every day for lunch but the food and service have progressively declined to the point that any other restaurant must be better. Dining out is an experience and should not be a chore. I like happy places. I like happy food. Cabo's is a sad place with sad food. I'll start with the food: Several times in the past, and now it has become the norm, the food is served horribly old. The grilled chicken is consistently dry and leathery. The rice is dry and tough. The grilled vegetables are greasy, overly cooked, colorless and limp. Their food is consistently served this way now, so expect the same if you choose to try this place out. Now, let's talk about the service. The turnover is quite high and it seems that all the new servers are obviously new to the U.S. and have never served in a restaurant. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, it's just that Not only is there no one qualified to train the newbies how to be servers, but there is also no one to teach them English which makes it very difficult to order or ask for anything else. It becomes quite a show when several people gather 'round your table when all you are asking for is hot sauce. Besides the food and service, ambience is also a major part of the dining experience. At Cabos, the ambience is very somber. The staff do not enjoy working there, that is quite obvious. No one ever smiles. If your table does not belong to the server, then don't expect anyone else to notice that your glasses are empty and that your salsa has been long gone because they only serve it in a teeny tiny dish to go with the basket of chips. Music is no longer played. I have always thought that Mexican restaurants were the bomb, because, like Pavlov's dog, as soon as I hear Banda music I begin to salivate. But that does not happen here. It appears that Cabo's and Monterey grill are owned by the same people. Monterey is closest to me but I would always pass it by and go to Cabo's for the same reasons I am reviewing Cabo's. Cabo's was once far better than Monterey but now we no longer go to either restaurant. Yesterday, we drove a little further and visited La hacienda. To note, La Hacienda's staff was happy, very efficient, and the food was very fresh and very good! We had an experience that shined like the daylight compared to the drab and gloomy experiences at Cabo's. read more

Food is great! Staff is great! We are long time patrons. The past few visits we have had, our problem is not with the food or staff it's actually with the manager Eden. The manager has berated and reprimanded the staff in our presence. The unprofessionalism and the inconsideration of his staff is absolutely unbelievable. Please consider proper training on managerial skills. It's embarrassing for the waitresses and the customers when he interrupts conversations with rude comments and direction. read more

It's... Okay. My toddler and I go here once a week or so because he goes to therapy in the same plaza. We go out of convenience, not so much because they are amazing. Since it's just the two of us, we often don't get very good service. I guess they think I won't tip well since our bill will be so small (we share one lunch). The food isn't that great but not bad. The beef for tacos/burritos is pretty bad though. Tastes like plain beef. I've watched our server give better service to tables full of people on their lunch break :-/. The service is pretty slow in general. We go at 11:00 sometimes and will be one of only a few customers in the place, yet still get slow service. read more
