Note: I did end up working with Cabrera Tree Care. I've reached out to Carlos with Cabrera Tree Care over a month ago. I'm writing this review due to their lack of responsiveness. I have tried calling, emailing and texting Carlos for 2 weeks to get the project started but have not heard from him. I did get a missed call from him 2 Sundays ago but no voicemail. I have made at least 4 calls, 2 emails and 2 texts since then but nothing back. I'm disappointed in the lack of response especially when I agreed to move forward with his estimate. Our large bougainvillea was pulling away from the side of our house, taking the electric wire with it. PG&E would only repair it if the bush was severely cut back. A few weeks ago when the wind in the city was crazy, our beloved 40' birch tree in our yard blew over -- into 2 of our neighbors' yards. This was on a Saturday. I started frantically calling tree services on Monday. One company couldn't even come to give us an estimate until the following Friday. Another didn't call us back until Wednesday. Carlos got back to us almost immediately and came over to give us an estimate same day. Even better, he was able to remove the tree the following day. He and his crew worked with minimal disruption, and they were even able to save all the plants/trees that were in the fallen tree's path. He left our yard -- and, more importantly, our neighbors' yards -- spotless. The tree hung over to the neighbor's side, and we anticipated that we would need to clean up branches, leaves and such afterwards. At first I wasn't going to write a review because I thought - Carlos already has so many good reviews mine won't matter. And I don't write that many Yelp reviews anyhow. However I really wanted to give Carlos a shout out because small independent businesses like Carlos are exactly the kind of ones you want to support on Yelp when they do a really good job. When you are busy working a ton of hours a week - the last thing I feel like doing is trying to get the trees cut in the backyard and finding someone to do it that is 1) actually going to show up and 2) isn't going to rip me off like so many contractors do in SF. Carlos - was quick to come give me a quote, gave me a really reasonable quote, showed up on time, was friendly, gave me good advice on how to do the tree better than I was thinking we would do it, and then even helped cut a few extra trees that we had not even talked about in the front of our house. Carlos did a great job of pruning the ficus tree in front of our house (ficus trees are crap, by the way - I do NOT recommend them). He and his assistant got the job done, cleaned the entire area well, and hauled away the debris. The price was decent. My only complaint was that there were some wires running through the tree and the day after the trimming, one of them was down - not cut but pulled out of the wall connection. I don't think it was Carlos's fault - the wires are pretty shady - but still, it's another hassle I have to deal with now. Carlos came to our Condo and trimmed a large pine tree in our backyard. The tree was at least 50 feet wide and 100 feet tall. A large lower branch had fell on our fence a year ago. Carlos meticulously trimmed the lower branch that were a threat to our fence. He also removed dead limbs. We were happy with his professionalism, tree expertise, and timeliness.
