Christopher and his crew did two jobs in the last 6 months for us. They completely it down one tree with a huge branch leaning threateningly over the neighbors fence. The kind of tree and branch that makes you hold your breath during the winter storms. The second was a giant eucalyptus which had never been trimmed in 50 years. Trees Company listened to our concerns and wishes, proposed a plan and submitted a bid. The team showed up on time, quickly but safely moving up and out among the branches, removing large branches and trimming throughout to open the tree both to light and breezes. Equally important, they were careful of the neighbors' yards and concerns and did a brilliant job of cleaning and removing the considerable debris. We could not be more satisfied. First, they responded to me immediately and gave us a very reasonable quote via email - our tree was in the Google maps photos and they were able to know exactly what to do. How cool is that? These guys (& a gal!) did a great job! It wasn't my property, I was letting them on/off the job site, but was very impressed with their work ethic. Someone phoned ahead of time to give me the window of when they would be there. They phoned that morning to ask a question about parking & they had actually gotten to the job early. I wasn't there yet because of cross-town traffic & apologized when I got there & the foreman was gracious & said: "no problem, it gave us a chance to go over safety regulations." I like that they take safety seriously. The crew was very friendly & fast. You could tell that they were knowledgeable, got along with each other, communicated well & liked working together. They creatively found a way to bring the scrap wood out to their chipper without having to drag it through the house. They asked a question half way through about a decision to leave a certain branch intact due to aesthetics & the health of the tree. I took a photo & sent it to the owner via cell phone. Chris's company was wonderful with my neighbors Douglas fir. My new neighbors have never ever kept the tree trimmed. It was overgrown in my yard and large branches had fallen occasionally when the wind picks up. Chris's company respects the trees they work on and took great care in trimming the tree on my side. My neighbors who wrote the previous review are just nasty. Chris's company was wonderful on time polite and cleaned up after themselves these Neighbors are just mean-spirited and don't understand the necessity to maintain the trees. All they thought is that I wanted to take it down that was not my intention and it didn't happen. These are the people who complain when people park in front of their house as well. We have a 'huge' avocado tree toward the back the lot that is not only thick and overgrown, it's also prone to dropping huge avocado bombs on a tenant's car. Owner Chris came out and spent time reviewing this 3+ story monster tree and then submitted a very detailed and explicit bid, which was impressive. There were actually 4 bids, but one was so low, I really couldn't consider it. Considering the three remaining bids, Trees Co. was higher than one and in line with another. The guys from Trees Company arrived right on time. The guys took some precautions by 'ladder covering' a neighbors 'immovable' potted plant, covering 1st floor windows, and they moved another very heavy potted plant to the back yard. The trimming job was absolutely impressive and actually quite artistic. I couldn't imagine this tree looking 'pretty', but it does! The guys thinned and shaped this avocado tree to perfection... the upper apartment will now probably have views, too. As expected, the clean-up was excellent. Highly recommend! The best Arborist. We've have the fortune/misfortune of owning one of the largest Monterey Cypress trees in SF. Over the past 20 years we've hired many Arborists with mixed results. This tree is over 3 stories high and we dread having to get it trimmed. Chris Altman was a pleasure to deal with. His estimate was fair and they did an outstanding job. They removed a considerable amount (which is what it desperately needed) and pruned all around PGE and telephone wires. Awesome Arborist! Chris and his team pruned our Victorian Box Tree (Pittosporum undulatum). Trees Company was on-time and on-budget in providing a quote. Was really happy with Chris and his team. We just had one Japanese maple we wanted pruned a little to let more light through. I got quotes from 4 companies all with great reviews and theirs was the most reasonable. I was looking for the work to be done several weeks out and it was no problem getting my preferred date. 2 guys worked for a little less than 2 hours to get the work done. They also trimmed back several branches that were hanging over from my neighbor's yard. Overall, a great experience. Cleanup could've been a bit more thorough. I wouldn't expect it to be spotless and they did get the blower out, but there were some thin/small branches under one of the other trees that they didn't pick up and we still swept up a bunch the next day. I have a fig tree that I have been pruning myself for the last 5 years or so. It has continued to grow and I finally realized that, for the long term health of the tree, I needed to find a professional. A few searches and some time on Yelp and I found Trees Company. As their website promises, they were quick to respond. In a few weeks Chris came by to take a look at the tree and we decided on a date about 3 weeks out to do the work. I chose them based on their philosophy of doing what is best for the tree and the customer. I find so many that don't treat trees as living entities. I recommend them, as the work was excellent, on time, and maticulous. As noted elsewhere, they are a little expensive. But, sometime you really do get what you pay for. read more

I chose Christopher after getting other estimates. So happy about that decision. It makes a difference having someone who really knows what's possible with a tree: an actual arborist. My advise: Hire Trees Company and let them do whatever they think is right. That's what I did and the outcome is better than I imagined. We tentatively scheduled the work out about two weeks. Meanwhile, another outfit weighed in with a bid and the ability to do the work in one week. I have used Trees Company several times over the last 3 years and they always do a great job. I have a heavily wooded acre so always have work to do. Their prices are affordable so I can have work done as needed. They always clean up and haul off the wood. Also grind stumps if necessary. Michael and his crew are friendly and fair. Trees Company removed two small trees for us. They did a good job removing the trees and grinding down the stumps but there was more collateral damage than I expected. My plants which were 7 to 8 feet away from the tree were stepped on and either partially destroyed or completely killed. They also did not cover the surrounding area, so the plants and soil were completely covered in tiny wood shavings. This was avoidable and disappointing so I wonder whether we should have used a different arborist. read more

We had a very positive experience with Trees Company. Last month they trimmed a large eucalyptus tree on our very steep back hill. They were responsive, friendly, and flexible with coming out to the house for a free estimate, providing the estimate via email, scheduling the tree trimming, and then the actual trimming of the tree. Their crew were great! They asked for my input multiple times to ensure they were meeting expectations. They were concerned about safety too. Plus they were flexible enough to take care of a couple more trees which required some minor trimming from staff located on the ground. Also, they arrived early after calling me to ask if it was convenient and then they cleared away the debris quickly after they were done trimming. The trees on our rental property were in need of significant pruning and I found Trees Company through Home Advisor. I filled in the on-lline questionnaire and received a response the next day. I live 2 1/2 hours from San Francisco and was unable to get there on a weekday. Christopher took time out of his Sunday to come to my home to assess the job. I received a detailed quote via email that evening. The next Friday Trees Company personnel showed up at 8:30 AM and worked quickly and as neatly as possible. They pruned a large buckeye and plum in the back yard and several juniper trees in the front of the house. To remove the trimmed buckeye branches, they had to go through a small door and through the garage to the street. Part of their equipment included a chipper which allowed them to chip branches immediately. They worked very efficiently, the yard, the garage and the front of the house looked great when they left. Our house is on a steep hill and there is little room to maneuver, but they managed it. We highly recommend them. read more
