Lowell came highly recommended. My mom has an older house with just as old electric. The exterior lights would get weird in heavy rains. This went on for about two years and then stopped working altogether. I had a couple of other companies come out for a quote - each had different approaches to repair/replace but they didn't seem confident they could fix the issue despite the cost and wanted to tear open walls and bypass existing outlets and switches. Enter Lowell. He was prompt to bid and was able to start relatively quickly. He didn't talk himself up and was realistic with expectations, but within a half hour, he found the issue and had the lights on and figured out a repair that wouldn't involve gutting plaster walls and tearing up concrete. He updated various outlets and even repaired a glitchy interior light switch. His years of experience, especially with older homes, is exactly what I was looking for and needed. And very pleasant to work with! We've had him repair some other things since and we've been super happy with the work and the costs are fair. After a flood + remediation, a subcontractor that was replacing the cutout drywall covered up an existing outlet that was used by our dishwasher. We only realized it after the entire restoration project completed and we were installing our appliances. I sent out a request on Yelp at around lunch and Cabrillo Electrical responded and was at our house that afternoon. Lowell (the owner) and his son came out, and within 20 minutes they found the covered up junction box behind double drywall without any visual indicators. Amazing work! In addition, Lowell was so careful with his cuts & decisions on how to tackle the project (since there's often more than one way to solve an issue like this), I knew after the first couple of minutes that this job was going to be perfect and I could trust them. In the end, the solution was brilliant. Rather than go across several stud boxes, cut out drywall and maneuver around plumbing, they decided on flush mount boxes with EC (electrical conduit) to jump from where the covered up box was to underneath the sink where it should have been, which also brought everything up to code. Amazing work, I would hire them again in a second. Just used this contractor to repair a couple of "blown" circuit breakers controlling all of our backyard electrical. This included a sound system, the electrics on a gas grill, a hot tub, fridge, heat lamps, fountain and lighting. They were the contractor that I wanted to use, but, in my haste initially chose the first one that contacted me. After realizing over the course of a weekend that the initial contractor was not going to satisfy my sense of urgency, I contacted Lowell on Monday morning. He and his son "LJ" were here that morning, analyzed the problem, had a plan to remedy it that also included making something safer and then did the work that very day. We had an issue where some GFCI outlets malfunctioned and all the outdoor ports were not working. Bad timing since that meant we had no working Christmas lights! I got quotes and availabilities from several electricians on Yelp and went ahead with Cabrillo due to their availability. Lowell and his son answered my yelp request for an electrician as soon as I posted it. After the AC technician diagnosed that the problem is not the AC but the circuit breaker- Lowell came and fixed it quickly. We had a heat advisory and we were all dying of heat.. so he was quick to fix my issue. They came back the next day to change the circuit breaker for a newer model since the one the condo came in with is really old. I told them that my house had been broken in and tampered. They waited after for a long time which usually means I am not going to get help for my tampered with probably stolen wiring work in my recently all permitted restored home. The owner dismissed all my concerns that the wiring was done during break ins, fire hazard for one, not to code, and obviously done for nefarious purposes tapping into my cameras and just looks bad with unmatching and cockeyed plates, switches, and outlets, weird texture, wiring poked through supporting structures in basement... They knew my discomfort with the blue van neighbor who had a record waiting to talk to all the vendors after they were done with my call.
