Overall the food was good. The waitress was very attentive and nice. The ambiance was calm and not super busy. We went on a Saturday at around 2pm and it was surprisingly not crowded. Our group ordered margaritas and the gambas al ajilio for appetizers. The sauce was garlicky with a hint of lemon. The jalapeño margarita was nice and spicy. For the entree we got shrimp tacos, cheese enchiladas, ground beef enchiladas and Valencia paella. Everyone enjoyed their food, nothing crazy just good. For dessert we got flan, sopaphilas and fried ice cream. I liked the fried ice cream, the shell underneath tasted like Cinnamon Toast Crunch and I loved the shell on ice cream. We came here on a Saturday at approximately 1 pm. A gentleman told us to sit wherever we prefer so we choose a booth. It took over 10 mins to simply get a menu. Getting our check was another slow process. We asked a gentleman (not wearing a server uniform but who helped throughout the meal) for our check. He proceeded to sit down and chat with another staff member for a few minutes and we ended up asking someone else for our check. Now for the food, I ordered the shrimp brochette and it was piping hot when it came out. The food was ok, but nothing super fantastic. I feel like it lacked salt or some type of seasoning. Nor was it the worst Mexican food I have tasted. (That honor is given to Durango's, that is better off forgotten) The food came out in the way that is usual in Mexican restaurants.... It looks like it has been predigested. The taste was fine. Not as good as the sadly missed (by me) El Paso. It has of yet, give me food poisoning so that's good... I can honestly say that the food was absolutely delicious. The authenticity was maintained as I compared it to the food I have eaten in Mexico, Texas, Arizona and California. (We ordered a traditional Mexican dishes) As we examined the dessert menu, we optimized for a dessert that had a Spanish flair added to see how well they infused the ingredients. The flair definitely enhanced the flavors added depth. It was very well done. There was a Spanish infusion added to the complimentary salsa and the chips were paper thin demonstrating that they were handmade. To top it off, the service was very well done. The atmosphere is relaxing and higher end with white table linens, etc Service was attentive while not intrusive. Their chips are so light and crispy, the best I've had in a restaurant's in quite a while. Selections are somewhat limited and seasonings of foods do not quite equal the atmosphere. We had the Mediterranean Salmon meal which was covered in highly salty sauce, portions were only fair in size for sides of black beans and yellow rice. The spinach enchiladas were lacking authentic flavor and tasted of processed white cheese so was unable to finish. The bar drinks look to be the best deal here as is the atmosphere for a relaxing dinner with friends. Just don't expect authentic Spanish or Mexican flavors. read more

My wife and I went there yesterday, Wednesday around 4:30 and were very impressed with the food, the margaritas, the decor, and the service. We were in the general area and looked up Mexican restaurants on YELP for that area. After reading the excellent reviews, we decided to try it. We were nicely greeted at the door by the manager and asked if we wanted a table or booth. The first impression was the place was very nice. The decor was bright and cheerful and all of the table had white table cloths on them. The server came over promptly with the menus and took our drink orders. We both had margaritas, one frozen and one on the rocks. Both were excellent and well priced. We looked over the menu and saw that it specializes in both Spanish and Mexican cuisine. My wife got a bowl of asparagus soup and a crab stuffed avocado and I got the beef burrito. While waiting a very short while for the food to come out, we tried the chips and salsa. The chips were thinner than most Mexican restaurants serve and excellent. The salsa was a very tasty green salsa. I could have made my meal with just the chips and salsa. My wife raved about both the soup and here crab avocado. My burrito was full of shredded beef. I actually took half of my meal home with me and continued with the chips and salsa! We live about 30 minutes from Cacique but we will make the trip back again. It will be worth the drive. read more

I ordered a few appetizers, an entree and a dessert to be delivered to my son (who lives close to 3 hours away) for his birthday. They did not include the dessert in the order which was paid for. Dinner on Tuesday evening 1/4/22. Beautiful, clean restaurant. Atmosphere lacking w/o music but they turned it on later. Salsa and chips arrived. Chips were warm and good. Salsa was some sort of cold tomato soup. We couldn't eat it. Queso was next.... Very, very runny/watery. Taste was cheesy but under seasoned and uninspired. Fajitas were good and chicken was plentiful but bland. The tacos my date ordered were bland and soggy on her plate. The beef in the beef taco tasted like it was a Sunday roast. No Mexican seasoning. More like potatoes and carrots. Friendly staff, but not attentive. It was hard to find the Mexican food in this Mexican restaurant. Probably will not return. read more

Husband and I went there on a Tuesday evening. There were 5-6 tables occupied when we arrived. Service was good and the staff was friendly. Restaurant looked clean & linens were crisp & fresh. The food was excellent! Husband had the Seafood Saltado and is looking forward to ordering it again! I wasn't very hungry (or adventurous), so I ordered a chicken burrito; it was very good. I ordered delivery today and the food was pretty good. However, it did not arrive as described in the menu. "A large flour tortilla wrapped around rice and cheese and your choice of filling." I chose chicken. The burrito was filled with chicken only. No cheese or rice inside. Rice was on the side. I expected a handheld burrito. I took my wife and child as it was suggested by a co-worker of mine that this place was pretty good. We drove for about 45 minutes (from Gettysburg) in hopes that the trip would be worth it, and we were not disappointed. El Cacique offers a large menu of mostly Mexican dishes as you would expect but also a few other Latin american dishes. It has a lot to choose from and I must say it was hard to make a selection as I felt like ordering almost everything in the menu. The staff was superb and made us feel welcomed, very friendly, informative, and made sure everything was to our liking and expectations. They were fast in refilling your drink and also chips and salsa. The food was excellent, service superb, and we also got to try some desserts that were delicious to say the least. We had dinner at Cacique in Hagerstown this evening. It was our second visit, and I don't know why. I don't know why we don't eat there more regularly! I knew before we arrived at the restaurant that I wanted the roast duck - which I had eaten on my first visit. Along the route, there were multiple election signs for a candidate named, oddly enough, "Duck." It was clearly kismet. We arrived at 7 PM on a Saturday evening and the restaurant was busy but not "slammed." We were greeted by a very pleasant hostess who gave us a choice of a table or a booth. We initially selected a booth, but asked to be moved because the booth was just not to our liking. We were immediately reseated at a table and met our server, Alejandra. We looked over the selection of specialty margaritas, and decided to try a half pitcher of the "Cadillac Margaritas," on the rocks. We were served the house chips and salsa, and promptly received our beverages. This was, bar none, the BEST margarita I have ever enjoyed. The half pitcher was only a few dollars more than the "house" beverage, and more than worth it. Made with top-shelf tequila and, rather than triple sec, Gran Marnier, the drinks were smooth, tasty, properly proportioned, and well iced but not watered down. But for my concern for everyone's safety, I would have enjoyed another! My dinner date enjoyed mixed fajitas -- chicken and beef. Both were well seasoned, very tender, well cooked, and just plain delicious. The accompanying sides were excellent, as were the fresh tortillas served with the fajitas. Then there was my duck. Falling-off-the-bone tender, succulent, and delicious. The accompanying black beans and rice were excellent. There was also a serving of steamed veggies, which I would have forgone in favor of a portion of pico di gallo, which I requested -- and promptly received -- from Alejandra! I love duck. This was as good as any I have ever enjoyed. I want it again. Soon! Overall, this was an excellent meal. The service was attentive but not intrusive, the beverages top-shelf, and the meals met and exceeded our expectations in every way. We will go back...soon! Every time I come here the food is amazing in plate presentation. The taste is constant every time. The staff is attentive, friendly and welcoming they make you want to come often to the restaurant! Had lunch here with my wife yesterday. We got fajitas and they were fantastic! Also had a margarita, salted rum, which was also perfect. Were gonna have to hit up the Monday margarita specials for $3...all day Mondays...great service, prices are good. Combo steak and chicken fajitas were $11.99. Chips were fresh...salsa okay ( but I'm not a big salsa fan)...queso was excellent @$6 I believe...but a generous portion of queso so worth it if you have more than one cheese lover. No croquettes! The zarzuela stew / soup dish had zero tomato and almond base so it was not authentic at all and lacking in authentic spainaird flavors. It's mainly a seafood slop soup. A mess! The lobster they advertise on the menu is a cray fish instead. No wonder it doesn't specify what type of lobster it is because it's not even lobster. It's over cooked crayfish. Lol! The paella wasn't spectacular either. Lacking in true Spanish food for sure. Mexican food is not Spanish food sorry. Their flan lacks a proper sugar caramelization on top. My wife and I drive by this Cacique's daily and decided to stop for Happy Hour. The restaurant's interior is very nice and I was impressed. However, it was empty at 5:00 during happy hour. They had $3.99 margaritas and sangria's. The margarita was good, but I didn't taste any alcohol, and my wife said her sangria had too much alcohol. (these drinks were pre-made) Their happy hour menu is good, but no discounted appetizers like most other places that have happy hour. I had a shrimp quesadilla and my wife had clams.
