My husband and I really enjoyed the Fiesta Parrillada, it says it's for two people, but the servings were so generous! The food was absolutely delicious and very worth the price. The staff were friendly, the place was clean, and the atmosphere made our meal even more enjoyable. Highly recommended!

We came first came here about 6 weeks ago and have now been back three times. It is SO good! Everything I've had has been delicious. The chips are warm which is always a nice touch. Salsa has good flavor. We have also ordered the Mixed Dip which is queso with their ground beef taco meat and pico. Delicious! For my meal this time, I had the Pollo Chipotle which again, so good! The chicken is grilled first and then put in the chipotle cream sauce. It is so flavorful and juicy with just the right amount of spice to the sauce. The rice had good flavor and I got the grilled vegetables (broccoli and zucchini) which is something I've not seen before at a Mexican restaurant. They were cooked perfectly (not mush) and had good flavor. I love having that as a healthier option as a side dish and that it's yummy! I always accompany my Mexican restaurant meals with a crunchy hard beef taco minus lettuce. I like having that crunch but I don't want just tacos as my meal. However, I could probably do that here because their ground beef is so flavorful! Love it. My husband actually ordered beef soft tacos for his meal this time and love them too. This is my second time ordering the pollo chipotle as well as the hubs second time getting the beef tacos. On another visit, we had pollo relleno and a mixed burrito (I forget the name). Both were good. The burrito was epically huge. The husband's only complaint about the burrito was the lettuce was inside which he was expecting it to be outside which he would've preferred. No biggie though. The pollo relleno was good, but not as good as the pollo chipotle which is why I got that again this time! Ambiance is super nice. This is the old pizzeria UNO's and while some details of that restaurant remain (the industrial circular vents on the ceiling in part of the dining room), but the rest of it is new furniture and decor. Very warm and inviting. Plus, the chairs are super comfortable too. Service has been good as well. We've been seated immediately all times we've come. The waitresses we've had have all been very sweet, even with a slight language barrier. Only ding I'd give for service is we've had to ask for drink refills, but all in all, service is good. Seriously, try this place out, I don't think you'll be disappointed. And if you do, please leave a review because the one other review thus far has given them an unjustly low rating, imo. It's a new restaurant and we know Hagerstown is chock full of Mexican places, and I would've even said we didn't need another one. But I'm glad we got this one as there are unique touches to their menu that I really like that sets Altos de Jalisco apart from the run of the mill Mexican joint. 4.5 , but since Yelp doesn't give us that option, I'm rounding up.

Two burrito grande's; one was shredded chicken and the other with shredded chicken, beef and shrimp with a side of beans and rice.

This was our second time dining at this Mexican restaurant and we really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere and we recommend recommended to others

After passing this restaurant numerous times, my wife and I decided to give it a try. As we walked in, there is a waiting area with seating for when the restaurant is very busy. We waited less than five minutes before we were seated. The dining area is spacious, clean and very well lit. There are beautiful woven baskets on the light fixtures. Most of the tables seat an avaverage of four people. There is a bar in the rear of the restaurant. They serve beer, wines and mixed drinks. We decided not to have any appetizers. For our main dishes, I had the shrimp and pineapple over rice. My wife had the chicken chimichanga. Both dishes were excellent. The shrimp and chicken were cooked perfectly. Our server was friendly and attentive. Prices averaged about $30 per person. The parking lot offered plenty of parking. The only minor complaint I have, is that the acoustics were not the best therefore it was very loud wwhiling having dinner. However, I easily recommend this restaurant.

    Frozen house margarita pitcher

Great service with awesome frozen house margarita. We got a pitcher & it was plenty for the 2 of us with leftover. Chicken chimichanga lunch portion was just enough & the flavor was awesome. Terrific location so u can shop after drinking without having to get behind the wheel.

**Check your bank/card statement** I know when I see a long review I lose interest, but please stay with me. I am a TripAdvisor user and this restaurant is not on that platform. Explaining my lack of reviews. We stopped in around 1pm on Saturday Feb. 1. There were 6/8 other tables. Not busy and plenty of staff. We were seated immediately. And waited about 15 minutes for the waitress to take our drink order. We were ready and ordered food as well. Food was good. The service was horrible. We had to flag her down for to go boxes. Again for the check. Never had a drink refill. They were not busy. I gave her a 15% tip. $6.27 on a 41.25 bill. My credit card statement reflected a $10.00 tip. That's 24% Tuesday morning I went to the restaurant and spoke to the assistant manager. She confirmed that my signed receipt reflected my intended tip. She also confirmed that a $10 tip was entered into the computer. She was very apologetic. Called the manager, who told her to refund the difference. HA HA. Nope, sorry I'm not even tipping 15% now. She was very apologetic and gave me a $10 bill. I don't know what personnel decisions will be made. I was lucky to have the receipt balled up in my purse. Buyer beware. This is scary to have someone fraudulently take advantage of customers. Attached you'll find my receipt and credit card charge.

The food is delicious! The salsa is the best I've ever tried! They are still getting their act together (as they've only been open 2 months) as far as meal consistency and presentation go but the potential for greatness is there! Prices are good, too! Check them out!

Carne asada it's supposed to come with salad but I asked for extra rice instead.

Food was good came out quick and was hot. I got a piña colada it was really good. Server was very attentive!

My order is always correct, which says a lot, and they genuinely try to accommodate special requests--even on takeout and delivery orders. The food is always flavorful and delicious no matter how you get it. The 3-item combo is such a great value -- generous portions, tons of variety, and everything on the plate is always spot on. And the fiesta nachos are one of our favs! Loaded with chicken, beef, and shrimp plus basically every topping you can think of. I also really appreciate that they include complimentary chips and salsa, even with takeout and delivery. It's such a nice touch and shows they care about their customers. On top of that, their prices are very reasonable for the quality and portions you get. This has definitely become one of my go-to spots. Highly recommend! Ordered the lunch portion chimichanga with ground beef filling with sides is rice, refried beans some Pico and sour cream. Pros... it was a decent sized chimichanga with a generous amount of seasoned ground beef in a taco seasoned sauce. The server (Gizelle?) was friendly and very attentive. She did a great job! Not so great... the chimichanga was rather tough. Took more effort that mermaid to cut into it with a fork. The filling as noted was generously filled, though the added sauce mace the filling rather "saucy"... more like a Mexican sloppy joe. Including tip and a soft drink my bill came to $20 for lunch. I'm happy to say the food's as good or better, with good service in an interesting setting. On crowded Massey boulevard with its strip malls and chain restaurants, it takes a keen eye to pick out this spot (hint - look for the Hobby Lobby parking lot). Then get ready for some unusual decor - the last occupant, a seafood place, did a LOT of intense decorating, including ocean-blue floors and dock pilings. We've visited this location 3 or 4 times now, and the food's been fine, partly out of our sentiment for the gone Frederick location. It's not hard to find Latino cuisine around here, but Mexicali had some of our favorites, including the delicious chiles rellenos (here, fried battered chilis, stuffed with cheese). When we went last week, it seemed clear they'd recently stepped up the game a little - new dinnerware and maybe even larger portions, and just as tasty if not more so. As usual, the chips were crispy and good (though our basket was mostly fragments) and the house salsa is a treat, fresh and zippy but not too hot. I had my go-to Azteca combo, with that chile relleno, a pork tamal, and a chicken enchilada, along with Mexican rice (though no beans this time, for some reason). My wife chose her favorite shrimp fajitas, also with beans and rice, though maybe a little skimpy on the bell peppers this time. My classic margarita on the rocks was big and zesty. Our server was attentive and polite. The crowd was thin on this Saturday night, so there were plenty of staff on hand. In an area with tons of Latin food choices, we depend on the consistent flavor and service here. Bueno!

We got a birria taco, a rockfish taco, a vegetarian burrito, and a guacamole. The fresh-made guac was quite good! Creamy, fresh, and generous. The Birria taco was good. Flavorful and tender and generous. But inexplicably they did not include a side of consommé sauce for dipping. Lots-of-sauce is a key part of a messy juicy birria taco. That would have just been a disappointment. But the fried rockfish taco, meh. It tasted fresh, but it tasted like something had burned in the oil. The fish seemed too chewy, overdone. The coating was overly-hard. The bean and rice burrito was also meh. The dull rice seemed too chewy, either overdone or cooked until it was too dry. And there were only a small amount of black beans, and no added veggies, so there was little flavor. Overall, we were disappointed in the Big Papi's location in Hagerstown. For over $35, we only liked $8 of the food. What was good, was very good. Maybe they were just having a bad evening. We might try Big Papi's again, but probably not this location.

Then the check comes out with a $3.99 charge for the salsa When I asked why it was charged after being told multiple times it was free, the server still kept saying "free" while staring at the receipt. At that point I had to ask for the manager because we were clearly not communicating. The manager said there was a "language barrier issue," BUT because we already ate it, we still had to pay for it. That part honestly blew my mind. If I asked about the price four times before ordering, clearly the whole point was that I didn't want it if it cost extra What made it worse was the attitude. The server never apologized once and the manager acted super confident like this was somehow normal. And honestly... the food wasn't even worth the drama. We were slightly frustrated because if they gave the second table to someone else we never would have accommodated our group. Luckily the rest of the group arrived shortly after we did so we were able to sit together. I'm a bit of a Mexican food snob and I thought the food was mediocre. The salsa was pretty runny and the queso was melted cheese with NO seasoning/flavor to it. I ended up adding hot sauce to both just to flavor them. I ordered the ceviche - one of my favorites. I was really disappointed with that. The shrimp was overcooked so my guess is that they added cooked shrimp into the mix rather than making it the traditional way. Bottom line - the margaritas was good but I walked out hungry with a box of leftovers that I ended up throwing away. I would give it a try again when we're not with a large group, but I certainly won't be rushing back there anytime soon. Overall, 2.5/3 star experience.
