A great addition to an already fantastic assortment of restaurants in Deming. We've been there a few times for dinner although I hear the lunch buffet is popular. There are so many highlights on the Cactus menu. The red chile asado is outstanding. I think this is the plate that won first prize at the recent Salsa Festival for red chile plates. Try the smoked brisket tacos, honestly my new favorite. We have also had the burgers and smoked meat platters, which are some of the best we've had. No offense to Rudy's, but it doesn't even compare to the smoked meats from the Cactus. If you are going to splurge, the rib-eye is the way to go. I think you can even order a larger cut, which is something I might try next time. The Cactus is fairly new but it seems as though they have worked out most of the kinks for a new restaurant. The servers are super nice and accommodating. Deming has a lot of great places to eat given its small size. It's hard to go wrong with any of them. However, Cactus has risen to the top of my list. read more

Stay away from the buffet. The only hot item was the soup. Everything else was lukewarm and DRY..the enchiladas were tortilla chips soaked in red or green sauce with cheese and baked..yuk Husband had the 1/2 rack of ribs.(3)..thought there should have been more, but they were good. We stopped in to have dinner as we were traveling through. The reviews did not let us down. It was very quiet, and not particularly busy. We were immediately greeted and sat, we asked our server about reccomendations and she gave us an honest opinion not just jumping to the most pricy menu item. I took her reccomendation and had the brisket taco plate... YUM! Some of the best tacos I've ever had, and the house salsa just kicked them up a notch. My husband had the brisket burrito and the sauce it is covered in was perfection!! Our daughter had a salad, she said it was pretty good, thought the chicken was slightly dry, but the flavor was very good. The littlest member of our crew had the kids nachos and thought they were the best ever, I think they were pretty simple and for the price just right. This place was amazing! We stayed the night in Deming on a car trip, and decided to check this place out. The food was INCREDIBLE. Totally authentic, full of flavor, and super cheap. It seems to be family run and they are all working so hard. If you need a bite to eat off I-10, you should definitely go here! read more

This is one of the few restaurants that is open for on a Monday. We just got to town and the reviews are very good so we gave it a try. It is located sort of back behind other businesses but our GPS led us right to their door. We were welcomed warmly by the hostess and seated immediately. Our waitress was wonderful. My husband ordered the BBQ Brisquet Tacos and loved them! I tasted the brisquet and must agree with my husband!! I ordered the Cheese Enchiladas and also thought they were wonderful. The beans and the Mexican rice had so much flavor I could have been happy just eating a plate of that!!! At one point during dinner, the manager or owner stopped by to ask how we liked the food. And the prices are very reasonable. They offer a very large menu with Mexican items and American items as well as a child's menu. Who would think that you could get really good tacos in Deming. We found out that you can if you eat at the Cactus Cafe. We had carne asada, smoked brisket and smoked pork tacos and they were all excellent. And on top of that, the service was good. read more

I apparently came here as a kid so many years ago. I returned, and boy howdy was I glad to do so! They have most of their breakfast menu all day long, so I got some pancakes, eggs and bacon. It was soo good. The pancakes had that perfect - made on flat top that has made a lot of good food before - taste to it and the eggs where done right as I had ordered them. The bacon could have been better, but oh well... I was amazed to see that the check with a generous tip, was 5 dollars! I LOVE LOCAL RESTAURANTS! read more

It was good the food was good it's traditional Mexican food but the only complaint is that there was 5 of us and the gave us 4 straws and 6 silverware things and when they came with our food they brought ketchup in a shallow boil and no ketchup in the container I would recommend this place because of the food and the nice service read more
