We'd been talking about checking out the Cactus Club Cafe for ages, so when it came time to book a restaurant for a night out, the place seemed like a logical choice. We arrived right on time for our 6:00 reservation and the place was packed. We were soon shown to a nice booth in the middle of the restaurant. (I do love me a nice booth.) (I should add that the ambiance, though very nice, isn't exactly conducive to a romantic, date-night feel. The place feels like an after work type joint, which is fine but not quite what we were looking for.) For our appetizer, we decided to try the Tuna Stack ("ocean wise ahi, citrus tamari vinaigrette, nori, sesame, avocado, microgreens, wonton crisps"). This is one delicious concoction. The presentation is really impressive, and it tastes just as good as it looks. There are plenty of really interesting flavors going on, and it's the e type of thing where you discover something new with every bite. We were about halfway through that dish when our mains showed up, which I found rather amateurish and annoying. It really contributed to the vibe that the staff was trying to rush us out of there so they could turn over the table quicker. Anyway, for my main I went with the Steak Frites ("8oz CAB sirloin, kale salad, horseradish cream, sea salted fries"). This is pretty much a perfect version of the venerable dish, as the steak was cooked perfectly and was full of flavor. (It was also the most tender steak I can remember eating in recent history.) The fresh, tasty fries and surprisingly delicious salad complemented the steak really well, too. Finally, we decided to share the London Fog Crème Brûlée ("blueberries, brown sugar, vanilla"). It sure looked appetizing when it arrived to the table, but my first bite told me something had gone awry in the preparation stage. The flavor is nice but there's an underlying saltiness that I found really unpleasant and off-putting. I ate a couple of bites and threw in the towel. It was an unfortunate ending to an otherwise delicious meal. I'm not sure if we would ever head back to Cactus Club Cafe on a date night, but if I was in the mood for something a little more boisterous and rowdy, I think the place would be a good option. Hear me out, I hate tofu but this was soy- chilli tofu and it was SOOO yummy! The bowl was so incredibly refreshing and filling- I highly recommend for my vegetarians out there. Also got the avocado dip which was awesome! Not as thick as I usually like it but still really yummy! Cactus always tends to be pricey but honestly food is usually worth it! The ground floor is a little dark but the upstairs is a lot brighter and like a patio. They are usually very busy so the food takes a while. The food is alright. We called in for lunch to celebrate my wife's birthday. A short wait and we were shown to our table. The staff were excellent and Carmen B, our server was exemplary. The timing was perfect as was the food. This is a great place for dining with enough space between tables to ensure some privacy. Furnishings and decor are contemporary but not flashy. We had a light lunch with Prawn Crunch Roll and an order of mini burgers with a shared side of truffle fries. A glass of Malbec and a Caesar were our drinks of choice. Cactus Club is my favorite chain restaurant offering. Ive been a handful of times to the Sherway Gardens location and the menu does not disappoint. Flavors are bold and exciting, quality is superb, and the restaurant itself is beautiful. My friends and I really love their rooftop seating in the summer evenings (opposed to the indoor dining room) and the ambiance is great. Music is never too loud, so you can still manage to have a conversation, though the restaurant is always packed with people. I love how consistently amazing the food is here. I'm primarily here for food and Cactus Club is a cut above the rest. It's so good I ate my meal and completely forgot to take a picture. I've had poke bowls, salads, burgers, pasta, and more - the dishes offered contain a lot of variety and are not the standard rehash of spinach dips and nachos I keep seeing at other chains. Really a breath of fresh air. Most recently, from their summer 2024 menu, I had their spaghetti portofino, which was fantastic. Portion size was good, pasta to sauce ratio was perfect, the flavor was fragrant and bold, ingredients were fresh, and the tangy/sour edge to the pasta sauce made it an excellent option for summer. I haven't been able to come on time for their happy hour specials yet, but plan to do so. Prices lean high but the quality is well worth it. Happy hour helps take it down a notch and they run frequent gift card promos to help reduce cost a bit. Service is consistently great; even with how busy they get, glasses stay full and the wait staff kept checking in on us to see if we needed anything. I hope they open more branches and hopefully one closer to central Mississauga, but even if they don't, I'll still be back as it's well worth the drive! read more

Came here for the Happy hour which is everyday from 2pm-5pm. This is a weird time since most people work till 5pm. I only came here because I had the day off. They also have happy hour at night from Sun-Thur 9pm till close and Fri-Sat 10pm till close. My group of 3 came on a Friday just before 2pm. They have indoor seating and outdoor seating available with heat lamps. It was a particularly hot sunny day so we had to wait about 30 minutes for a table outside. They can text you when your table is ready. Meanwhile it's by Sherway Gardens so you can easily kill time by browsing or doing some shopping. There was no wait for indoor seating. Our server was very friendly. I imagine during game days this place would be even busier. There are several big screen TVs to watch the game on. For the HH food menu prices they ranged from $5-$25. A couple of items such as the fried chicken sliders and the ravioli only come in a pair. The food came out all at once in a reasonable amount of time and they tasted good. read more

Ordered the blackened creole chicken today and was very disappointed when it was served with the skin on (this was not mentioned on the menu). So gross. Had to remove it which defeated the point of what would've been an amazing seasoning. The service was somehow worse than the last time. I feel that when some servers now have included gratuity, they can provide less than the bare minimum service and it doesn't matter. My niece's meal came 20 mins earlier than everyone else's main course for some reason. She waited 5 mins for ours to arrive but they never did as a party of 8. We didn't want her food to get cold so she awkwardly ate alone. The rigatoni bolognese was so dry and the meat was iffy. Sadly, it gave my mom food poisoning and ruined our plans today... along with my sister in law and niece. Made a reservation during happy hour (Every day 2-5pm + Sun-Thurs 9pm-close), which we didn't even realize; it was a pleasant surprise to be able to order things for a bit cheaper. Started with the shrimp crunch roll, which came with 8 pieces and was amazing. Shrimp was warm and everything blended well with each other. I also ordered the cajun chicken sandwich which was good but also very messy to eat. The mayonnaise spilled out with each bite and even holding the sandwich; it was good but you definitely want a lot of napkins. The fries were pretty good as well. Ended the meal with the chocolate molten lava dessert which was very chocolatey and sweet. It was good it came with a scoop of ice cream, which balanced the warm sweetness of it. We only had about 2 hours to eat as there was a reservation after us and tie place was pretty packed. had dinner with my wife and friends there and it was the worst civil experience ever, first the staff seems to be trained to not allow coloured people in ( there was 8 people waiting for a table and we got seated before them 10 of us) while seated the staff seem to be gossiping about a member of the trans community which i find was very unprofessional. I enquired with one of them, who confirmed that the staff tried adding 18% gratuity through deceit and refused to explain to the party. They're very quick to decline your questions or give vague time frames for wait times. Thankfully the service is redeemed by the servers and bartenders, they are very pleasant and not too pushy for ordering. As for the food, it just goes downhill from here. The food is incredibly bland or in the case of the rigatoni, very salty. Drinks were good, but the food really ruined the experience. A bonus of this location is the upstairs atmosphere and how nice it is on a sunny day with the windows opened up. Feels like you're dining outside.
