Finally got to come here on a Saturday dinner night. It was quite packed but lots of seats available. You should make a reservation if you can or you'll wait a long time for seating. There's a second floor available with outside seating as well. Staff is attentive and quick, really similar to all other Joeys. Ceviche is new on the menu it seems and I'm so glad we ordered it. It was so beautifully presented and a delicious taste! Tangy and spicy. It was perfect and I don't eat spicy. The baja tacos had too much veggies so it honestly doesn't look presentable in my opinion. But taste was really good, my friend enjoyed all the food. My favourite here is the ravioli bianco and the ravioli was too dry, needed a little more sauce. I would come back here for sure! read more

Because of that, it felt odd that swapping an alcoholic beverage for what would likely be a less expensive fountain drink wasn't possible. The food was good, as always, and we still enjoyed our meal. It was just the rigidity around such a simple request that took away from the overall experience. Especially as we were celebrating our last date night before our new baby arrived. I travel to Toronto often, and when I do, JOEY is one of the restaurants that at least someone I'm visiting suggests that we visit on most trips. It's a great restaurant with tasty food, good service, and close to where I stay when I visit Toronto. During a recent trip, my sister and I visited JOEY Don Mills twice in one day. For lunch, we sat with family upstairs on the roof and enjoyed the nice weather up there. While I enjoyed a sandwich with a side salad, when we came back later in the day for dinner, we sat downstairs in the dining room with other family. We were offered complimentary champagne when we arrived. I ordered chicken parmesan as an entree, and they brought a complimentary birthday dessert that I shared with the table. After dessert while we were having coffee, my uncle went to use a restroom, and he had an accident where he fell and hit his head in the restroom. Emergency services were called and while they took a long time to arrive, the staff at JOEY and the managers were very helpful and gave him plenty of assistance and attention to ensure he was taken care of. We are very grateful for the team in how they responded to an emergency situation. We were delighted to be greeted with a welcome drink of champagne as we entered but things gone downhill from here mainly due to the service. We ordered the steak and sushi, classic steak and the chicken Parmesan for the little one. The server knows we are ordering the pasta for a 4 year old but didn't warn us that the pasta is spicy. Fortunately, she was able to cancel it and offered a kids pasta instead. We had long finished our meals when the kids pasta arrived and they had taken away all the utensils by that time. I asked for a set of utensils for the child when the pasta arrived. Our server was too busy with other tables so someone else brought the pasta to our table. That person never came back with the fork that I asked for and seems to have disappeared. Other servers turn a blind eye to our table and the people there don't seem to want to help out each other. I had to walk to the front desk and explain my unpleasant experience and then finally the receptionist brought us a fork. Our server probably got the news and came to our table and apologized. She was quite attentive afterwards and checked on us frequently and even offered a dessert on the house. Perhaps the server to table ratio is too high. I read other reviews and they indicated the service is very slow at this restaurant as well. So I was not the first to feel such way. Management needs to do something about this. The food itself tasted great though except the spicy pasta. But if there is prior warning about the spice in the pasta, perhaps everything would be fine. The bright light from the sun near the window is a bit too much for my liking. Management should be more mindful of the comfort of the guests and use blinds to cover the bright light. read more

Visited this restaurant randomly as I was visiting. I did not make reservations so there was about a 30min wait. However, we were able to dine at the bar which is what I was anticipating. The decor is nice and staff seem pretty friendly. i ordered a Moscow Mule and was not what I was expecting due to the slushy mixture on top--I've heard its a JOEY thing. Anyways, food came out a lot faster than I was expecting. The butter chicken was yummy and nice and hot. it was nicely seasoned and had that butter chicken taste I'm accustomed to. I love how their main floor dining space is surrounded by so much natural light from their kitchen windows, and the view of the Shops at Don Mills is fantastic. I came for Friday happy hour and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't overly loud or crowded. Service was lovely - and for the first time, I was actually offered a welcome glass of bubbly by the host! Such a nice touch (and wish this was more consistent across their locations). Our food took a bit longer than expected to come out, but our server checked in to give us updates, which was much appreciated. The bellini was refreshing, the steak was cooked perfectly (and trust me, medium well steaks are almost never done right), and the sliders were juicy & consistent (and not thrown haphazardly together like other places). I have t been to Joey for a long time. The service was good. Once in one the menu I plan to have a steak. It was not much of a choice but I couldn't believe the price for a 16oz ribeye for $75. I ordered it and it didn't come for 30 min. The server was nice enough to delete the steak off the bill and she told me my steak was burned and they had to make me another one. Finally the steak came it really didn't look like a 16oz to me and it was salty and thin to my taste and I'm a person that love salty food. I didn't want to complain anymore because it's no point. The beer I ordered for almost $9 it was only maybe a 10oz glass. The quality and quantity for the price did not match the standard. Had a great time a few weeks ago at Joey's in Don Mills. I often don't do chain places but this place was exceptional. From walking in and receiving a free mimosa to be exceeded immediately, first impressions were great. It's spacious and area and there's lots of room at the tables but with enough space between so you can't hear what other people are talking about. Menu is extensive and has something for everyone, including vegan and gluten-free choices. I had the chicken lettuce wraps and they were delicious. Our waiter Pablo was fantastic and I really appreciated his attentive service throughout. My friend and I didn't feel rushed and we had a good visit because we hadn't seen each other for a while. I love going to Joeys' at Markville, but Don Mills is a little closer to home now a days so we opted to stop by a few times here instead. Service is always quite slow. The entryway is not well organized, so a few times we came in, waited in a line, only to be shoved aside by new people. The hostesses don't take notice of who is coming in, so they just take whoever comes to the desk first. I've been kinda annoyed about it so many times we just left one time. We made eye contact many times with the hostess who was talking to someone else, so we didn't want to interrupt. These other people burst in and just shove their way up, and the hostess take their names first!? It's such horrible hospitality right through the door and I really think Joey's is better than this. If you can get past it all and get a seat, the food is great. Exactly as you expect from a Joeys' and relatively quick kitchen. We usually get the ahi tuna club if it's available on the menu. Korean fried cauliflowers are usually no-fail, as are the asian chicken wraps. Their steak and frites are usually quite good too. The cocktails are always a fun thing to try and the desserts are quite large. We never end up getting desserts anymore because we're too full, but I do like the ala mode apple dessert they had. I'm not sure if it's still on the menu. Service kinda depends where you've been seated. Sometimes if we're on the dining side (right of the entry) it takes a long time for us to get the attention of a server. We usually are ready to order within a few minutes of sitting down, and sometimes it'll take 10-15 minutes to even get the starting waters. Closer to the bar, we tend to have more luck. I'm not sure how the FOH is organized and maybe more servers are available there, or maybe it's just the flow of traffic (kitchen's there?). So usually, we'll try to ask for seating near the bar now. If you know you're going to Joey's ahead of time, aim to get a reservation. They fill up quickly. It's not ideal to try walking in. Even the Markville location is the same experience. If we want Joey's as a spur of the moment craving, usually we'll just order take out. That limits the options of course because things don't taste great after sweating it out in the car. Parking can be a nightmare but at no fault of Joey's. It's just the way the mall is organized. Street parking is usually full so you gotta park at the parking structure across the mall. I just enjoy it as a few extra steps to work up the appetite, and a few steps to walk off the meal. read more

Joey has mostly been the same since I first reviewed them a decade ago. They're the Cold Play of upscale chain restaurants. Nothing overly offensive, mostly consistent, and when you're done they're kinda forgettable but you remember it's not bad. Unfortunately during my last experience we did a walk up on a weeknight with no reservations and was told it'll be half hour, which was fine since I was early and my friend I was meeting with usually runs a bit late. 40 minutes go by, still nothing, we go in to check and were told that we'd be next. We were well taken care of though as those waiting were given a dumpling, and bite of a slider and some prosecco. Another half an hour goes by, device to check in again to see what's up and was told it's going to be at least another half hour. Doh! read more

Haven't been to Joey for a very very long time and forgot how good their food is. Got the steak and sushi and it was delicious!! The steak was cooked to perfection.. nice and juicy. Are the employees at JOEY Don Mills racist? Maybe. I am a person of colour. I came in on a Saturday evening with a party of two. I was told the wait would be between 45 minutes to an hour, so we took a seat in the waiting area. A few minutes later, another racialized couple walked in, they are told the wait is 30 minutes, so they sit down next to me (why their wait time was less, I don't know). Just after that, a group of 3 white women walk in. They are told about the wait time, and then they are immediately offered glasses of champagne while they waited. My group and the second group were not offered this. A lady from the group of two who came after me went up to the hostess to ask why our groups weren't offered any champagne. The hostesses were apologetic, and then offered us our champagne. But why did we have to ask for it? The second group is then seated before us, even though we were the first to arrive out of all three groups. There were several tables open at this time. I understand that tables may have been reserved, but people were leaving and new guests were not being seated. We eventually stopped a hostess to ask about the table situation who spoke to the hostesses in charge at the front, and we were seated almost immediately. So it seems like there were tables available, but we were just made to wait. The table we got was sticky and it had not been cleaned properly. In the section we sat in, there were a few tables that had stayed empty from the start to end of our meal. I don't know what was going on today, but it looks like the hostesses need more training. read more

Joey is a very swanky looking place. All the waitstaff & front of the house were young & attractive people. The decor is also very modern, slick & new. The food prices seem high in my opinion. Similar to The Keg prices but I think the Keg has better food quality. Then again I'm pretty demanding when it comes to food! If I'm going to pay at least $15+ for a dish it better be pretty darned good. I ordered the steak frites to see how it would compare to The Good Son which is also at Shops at Don Mills. The steak & fries were okay. But they give a smaller portion than The Good Son. I also think the quality is better at The Good Son. Service was fine. The food came out relatively quickly. The washrooms are located upstairs near the terrace. I will say this, the terrace looked really nice. I actually wished we had been seated up there instead. I might try a different dish here just to see if they have better options. It is pretty pricey though so be prepared for that if you come here. read more

As being a regular customer of all of the JOEY restaurants i.e. Eaton Centre, Sherway, Markville, Yorkdale & also Don Mills Although been to JOEY Don Mills for dine in but unfortunately this time JOEY Don Mills takeout had a pathetic experience! We called and placed order @ 11:00 PM and were to pickup in 20 minutes. I was at restaurant @ 11:25 PM! After waiting for couple of minutes of the hostess came and enquired & told I'm here for pickup! She went back to kitchen to get food & came back saying that we are very busy & your food isn't ready it would take another 20 minutes! So went outside and waited in car, came back after 20 minutes. Again had to wait for hostess this time it was another lady, told order details and she went & brought the order & it was almost time for closure of restaurant as it was almost midnight ! As we reached home & open the food! It was cold ! What I feel is that the food was already prepared, either the kitchen staff didn't hear or the hostess didn't say properly! Joey is always my fav place to go when I can't decide where to eat. The happy hour provides great deals. I got the steak frites- cooked to a perfect medium rare and the truffle fries. I always have to order the truffle fries when I come here because it's just delicious with the Parmesan cheese. Very addicting. My friends got the pasta and cali burger. All delicious. The salad we got was definitely way smaller than the plate. Not sure if they're trying to save rations or something, but i'm not a chipmunk. Also I wanted to add that I wanted to book for a large group a week ago, they said no, and also didn't try to even accommodate. My business partner that has an AMEX Plat. card was able to do it through their services, at the same location, at the same time, with the same amount of people.... Not to mention it was DEAD in there so i'm not quite sure why Joey declined me before we had to use our AMEX. I came here on a Wednesday at lunch. It was busy but not too busy to get a seat on the rooftop patio, which was really nice. It's set up with lots of plants and varied seating options. I ordered the impossible burger and frozen lemonade. I made modifications to make the burger vegan. I ordered it in a lettuce wrap and got no special sauce or mayo. There are a couple vegan options and other dishes that can be modified to be vegan. The presentation of the sushi dishes look really great. There is a lot of variety on the menu. However, the chicken is nicely breaded, crispy and not dry. The slaw on top provides a nice crunch. We did call them and they did apologize for missing the ingredients and offered to give us a replacement but we were too far out to bother to go back. - 4/5 for what I could eat. We were in the area to do a little shopping and I was feeling a little hungry, so it seemed like a good idea to pop into Joey Don Mills. I'd been to a couple other locations in the past and found that the brand was a cut above most franchise joints. I wasn't disappointed. We were seated in the lounge area right away and I began perusing the menu. I eventually settled on the Hand-Pressed Burger ("all the groceries, secret sauce") and got that with fries. It arrived a short time later and was certainly picture-perfect in appearance. And although it was far from hot - the whole plate had clearly been ready to go for a while before I received it - I enjoyed everything in front of me. The burger's various components all worked really well together, including the smash-griddled patty and delicious secret sauce, and the shoestring fries were equally tasty.
