Open Cork has two dining areas and they have a nice private ambiance to it. They have lots of parking to accommodate the amount of space/seating. Overall, they have great portions and value for their food and the interior feels very private and intimate. We were here as a party of 4 and were truly stuffed and needed to take home quite a bit of food. The apps and starters can all be shared as the portions are quite large and heavy. Everything has extra cheese, cream, and/or oil added. Ordering was quick and the first course came out around 10 mins after ordering and the mains about 30 mins or so. - bread and butter as well as water is available at the start of the meal - the seafood chowder (fish) was super rich and creamy, it was the highlight of the meal, sharing one is enough for 4 (we had two and with the rest of the meal was too much) - the italian salad was refreshing, but also heavy with dressing, one was good to share - the poseiden calamari was super fresh and crispy, a great app and again sharing one is enough (we ordered two and it was too much) - the veal ossobuco was very well seasoned and the saffron risotto is rich and creamy (very shareable for two people) - the fettuccine sea and land was packed with protein and perfectly done (again shared between two people is best) - the linguine of the sea in cream sauce was topped with a load of seafood and perfect as well (sharing would be ideal) Overall, a great place to have a long night of enjoying food and company, but the food is heavy and oily. Share basically everything with another person or just take the leftovers home to enjoy. Will be back for the calamari and chowder again as well as trying their pizza. Not only did we have to contend with an ill-informed, badly trained waitress who may have had the best of intentions, we were left to our own devices. We placed an immediate order for Calamri and Bruscetta, To start with, service was unbareably slow. No offer of drinks until we asked for help. And then, the order came in wrong and mixed up. So then, after waiting, appetisers arrived, no plates, napkins or cutlery. Hmmmm. An hour later, no effort to take our dinner order for mains. Need I say the eye rolling was full tilt. This young lady, while lovely was an absolute "bimbo". Worst to come. The Calamari and Bruscetta was edible. Outstanding??No. The we waited for dinner. My cousin and I ordered the huge dinner (Beef, lamb and chicken) for two. Her husband order Veal Parmesan. When the food arrived, I can only say it was the most disappointing $110.00 I have ever spend for food in my life. Cold, definitely not medium rare as ordered. A huge platter filled with over cooked grey meat, over seasoned with raw garlic and stale spices on top of a mountain of french fries!!! Really??? That's gourmet cooking? Sorry. We left most of the food on the tray, asked for take home containers. The only redeemable grace was the bottle of red wine we ordered. That was drinkable. After 2 and half hours, I was heartbroken. Went for dinner with 3 other couple tonight. Service was slow even though the place was not busy. Disappointing to see that the restaurant was not following COVID-19 rules by having people sign in and most of the staff were not wearing masks including the owner! We started out with appetizers, mussels and fried calamari. Both were pretty good but took forever to come. Main dishes ordered were the chicken voltini with a mushroom sauce. Went for Father's Day and dined indoors. The ambiance of the place was very nice but the prices are so reasonable! We order a couple appetizers, the saffron cream mussels and the flavour of the sauce was so rich and delicious. The fried calamari was done perfectly! For entree we ordered the pork tenderloin, seafood risotto and butternut squash ravioli. The pork tenderloin we would give it a 7/10, seafood risotto 9/10 and the ravioli was 10/10! The atmosphere is very nice. The food quality varies. I could tell some or all of my pasta was microwaved(there's a distinct hot sting on the tongue when you bite into a microwaved meal) but the taste was good. The person accompanying me got the pork tenderloin, not tender at all. Sure, we could have sent it back but we'd get the same quality meat so we dealt with it. The server seemed like any request we had was a bother to him. With any question asked, the tone in his response was basically "ugh what an obvious question" Just a personal thing but this place definitely wants to appear fancy, but yet they bring you the little electronic card reader at the table? Good enough to circle back to yelp to see what else might be good from there since I have time to order from them again. So I was surprised to see so many negative reviews. Annnnyways... It came with potatoes and some mixed veg, both of which needed S&P, but they were cooked well! The veal parm itself was pretty good. Lotsa cheese, and the sauce was ok. It definitely had flavor, but every sauce in Canada has some weird flavor to it that I can't put my finger on. Good, but different than what I'm used to! I also tried the "fettuccine sea and land". I think this is the one that has chicken in it and shrimp in a rose souse. There's mushrooms in there, too I think. This one also had some weird flavor I couldn't identify. It was my least favorite of the three I tried. Then, I also ordered some seafood mixed grill or something appetizer, but I think they sent me the wrong dish, because I got a rice dish with assorted seafood in it. But I'm not even MAD about it because whatever that shit was was DELICIOUS. I picked out the sundried tomatoes, and I'm not sure what all else was in there (there was green stuff, and the souse was DANK). There was some sea scallops and shrimp for sure, and a surprising amount of them. I smashed all the scallops for sure. The shrimp were also huge and cooked perfect. This is one of my favourite Italian eatery. There are two sides to Open Cork, there is the dine in and then the lounge in the other room. I've only been to the eatery side and it's beautiful. Food was amazing as usual. I had the jambalaya, mussels, and fried calamari. Jambalaya - Pasta is cooked Al Dante, sauce was flavourful and they don't skimp on their protein. Mussels - tasted great, sauce very yummy and can use it as dipping sauce for bread. Fried Calamari - I always make sure I get the fried calamari when I'm here. It has a nice light crunch from the batter and I like the thickness of them. Looking forward to dropping by the lounge area next time I come by. read more

My normal eating and drinking areas are Junction, Queen West and Bloor West so this was quite the culture shock ! A very large space in the 905 with patio and many rooms inside. Has a cruise ship vibe actually. The 80's Euro theme runs as deep as the ocean. Without irony. Men's shirts are unbuttoned further than normal, ladies sure love their make up and helmet hair abounds on both sides of the gender fence. But their customer base is non judgemental which is fine for Mississauga. Service was cheerful and the customers seemed to be enjoying themselves without a Hipster in sight. I had the escargots and my friend had the calamari, both smothered in a strange and gas inducing tomato stew. Huge portions. The house wine was fine, although pitched as red or white. Open Cork is a Mississauga icon. It has been open for many many years and continues to please foodies over and over again. It had been many years since I have visited Open Cork and was before I became a Yelper. My last visit to Open Cork happened to be my last restaurant visit before the Covid 19 social distancing rules. Let me tell you am I ever glad that Open Cork is where we chose. Not only was is the last dinner before Covid but it just happened to be an all out evening. We started the evening with the fried calamari as an app. They were fried to perfection and the portion was more than enough for 4 of us to share. Two of us wanted meat and two of us were craving seafood so it only made sense to order the meat platter for 2 and the seafood platter for 2. While we were waiting for this to be prepared we realized that we came to Open Cork and will not be trying their pasta dishes. So of course we ordered a plate of Penne a la Vodka for the 4 of use to share. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. The platters for 2 was more like a platter for 4. The plates were loaded with seafood and meat enough to feed us for a few days. Then came the Penne. We were stuffed. The meat and the seafood platters were perfect. Huge portions, cooked well and great variety of different meats and seafood. The Penne a la Vodka was a little different than the traditional way of making it yet very tasty and I would order it again. In the end all 4 of us rolled out of the Open Cork but the best part was we had plenty of left overs for a few days. Open Cork continues to please and I will be visiting very soon. read more

Very nice decor with friendly staff. My sister and I enjoyed a bottle of wine that was reasonably priced along with bruschetta and stuffed mushrooms for appetizer. Bruschetta was delicious but stuffed mushroom need to be reworked. The cream cheese was odd tasting. Entree was seafood risotto and chicken Gorgonzola pasta. Both were really good. The Open Cork is located at the north east intersection of Southcreek Rd and Dundas St E in Mississauga, just west of the 427 and Etobicoke Creek. This restaurant has been here on Dundas for quite some time. While I've seen businesses come and go along this street of Dundas between 427 and Dixie, The Open Cork is one of the few places that has been here for what seems to be decades if that. While it's been years since we've been, we recently went for a small private room banquet get together. The space we had was appropriate and closed off but well lit with enough space that we didn't feel squeezed in. The place itself has a modern upscale feel to it as the décor and furnishings make it feel quite modern. The bar, interior dining areas are intimately lit while the outdoor patio would be also be a good choice for dining if the weather would be agreeable. Basically as far as ambiance this place is a nice, formal type setting. The food was also quite good and the service was professional. I had the chicken while my wife had asked for the salmon. Being that this place is an Italian restaurant we only had a few options as our selections for the reception (pre-selected menu choices) but it was still good. read more

We went to Open cork for a birthday gathering. And usually our go to is Scaddabush, mainly due to the location and its convenience for all of us. So I was a little reluctant to go this far. But I'm so glad we went here! The restaurant itself is nice, with loads of seating and those comfy private booths which we, unfortunately, didnt get since it was very packed at the time (around dinner time). I got the Tortelleni Fanatasia, and the sauce was everything!!! It was nice and rich and very creamy, which I personally love. The portions were very large, and despite this I ate it all! I usually stay around the Square One area for italian food but my friends and I decided to venture out and try this place for a birthday celebration dinner. I've always passed by this restaurant during my commute downtown and it's left me curious as it seems like a very nice place on the outside. The patio looks great, unfortunately it was a chilly fall evening and patio season is over. Our party thoroughly enjoyed our food there. They had a selection of vegetarian options for my friends, which is rare to see at the other places we usually go to. The restaurant had a very nice interior with lots of space (would be great for a party, whether business or casual). The wait staff were prompt and kind. We ordered pasta and an item from the grill and we were all very impressed by the pasta and the grilled chicken pollo. The portions were of good size. It was a very nice ambiance and we were not rushed with the bill after the wait staff took away our finished plates. We left with disappointment and headaches, we just wanted to leave. We politely told our waitress about our meal and the unpleasant crying she didn't even try to speak to a manager or the owner. My daughter has a shellfish allergy so we were very clear when she ordered the squash ravioli with no lobster. ...It came with lobster. I had to stop her just as she was about to have a bite. I ordered eggplant Parmesan that tasted like sliced zucchini end eggplant with a jar of ragu on it. Nothing special. My husband ordered chicken parmigiana which was tough and had the same jarred ragu sauce on it. All our meals seemed to have sugar in them as well. The sauces were too sweet for us. Went here before 4 or 5 years ago, and I remember it being "ok". My mom seemed to like it, so we attempted to go here again for Mother's Day. While waiting in line to be seated, no one was at the desk. There were 2 other groups ahead of me, and I was standing alone, waiting for my brother to park the car, and my mom to finish her smoke. Both groups were eventually approached by a lady, who sat them down. I heard her asking the group ahead of me the standard "How many?" to the ones directly ahead. While she was helping them, a man, whom I assume is the owner/manager comes into the lobby. He completely ignores me, and goes to talk to the people behind me (who were also rudely trying to pass me by the entire time). I interrupt, saying "I got here first". He looks at me annoyed and goes, "What's the name for the reservation?" I said I didn't have one. He then deadpan tells me "I can't sit you", then the lady behind me butts in and says that she has one, and I am once again being ignored. So I interrupt, asking for clarification, and ask "Is it reservations only?", he replies "Yeah", and continues with the woman. What kind of stone-walled, private dining, friends only, bullshit is this? This is no way you treat people. I understand it's Mother's Day and busy, but 90% of places will at least tell you that there is going to be a wait without a reservation. Sorry dude, but your place is too mediocre and sleezy to be acting like it's some high-end reservations only place. Plus, I didn't hear the hostess ask the other group for a name. And no where on the website, or on the way in, did they say anything about it being reservations only. I have a feeling he just didn't know how a seating chart works, and couldn't be bothered. Finally came here with some friends to try out the food and was not disappointed! I was a little apprehensive because some reviewers mentioned the service aspect but I found it was fine. The servers were pretty attentive and the food came reasonably fast. For starters we had the Bruschetta, grilled calamari, steamed mussels in white wine and an arugula salad. (see my pics!) My wife totally enjoyed the salad. Although we did find the mussels pretty small....the wine sauce was nice. For mains, we had the seafood platter for 2, steak and a lobster pasta. The seafood platter was huge!! We ended taking about half of it home! The steak was nicely done and so was the lobster pasta. Finished up with a couple of shared cakes. My friends have been raving about The Open Cork for years so I finally decided to join them for dinner just prior to Christmas. Let me tell you, this place did not disappoint. The restaurant itself is just beautiful inside. Nice tables with comfortable seating and super clean bathrooms. The service was outstanding and the owner came around and greeted everyone. They had a huge wine and mixed drink selection and even had Keiths on tap. It was hopping inside with a couple of big groups but mostly tables of four. Great value too. The Poseidon Calamari was exceptional - good size serving, fresh, crisp, tasty and a delectable dipping sauce. I had the Orange Roughy and it was so fresh and prepared to perfection. The rice was al dente and it came with a nice variety of perfectly grilled vegetables like squash, baby bok choy and zucchini. My only complaint was that the king crab on top was the fake crab but they made up for it with lots of big, fresh shrimp on top. Two of my friends ordered the Linguine of the Sea and the other ordered Penne Gorgonzola and they all enjoyed their meals. I plan to return next month with my husband and another couple! read more

Good Parking, Easy access off 427, Interior Bar was a better option as the restaurant side had a lot of kids on a Saturday night. Wine list was generous, food was hot and tasty. Only complaint from my partner was the state of the women's bathrooms on 09/22/18. 4 out of the 5 stalls were out of commission, cracked toilet bowl, clogged toilets and water leaking everywhere. Save your money there are many other places in Mississauga better than the Open Cork. I was there on Sunday (Oct 22nd, 2017) and had one of the worst experiences ever. If not for my friend who was celebrating her birthday there, I would have left without even trying the food. The service was TERRIBLE, maybe it was because we had a big group, but many of our orders were wrong, they had no clue who ordered what, and my wife waited 20 minutes to get a plate, cutlery and a glass of water. We were hoping the food would make up for the initial experience, but oh boy how wrong we were... our table had 10 people and only 4 of them actually finished their meal. Undercooked pasta, raw veal and cold vegetables was just the beggining. After talking to everyone on our table, they all agreed that this is not a place worth ever coming back to. MAGGOT IN MEAL!!! - Was just there for a holiday team lunch today, December 23, 2016. Was initially seated in the back but moved to the bar because of a foul smell. Came here because my colleague had been there many times over the years and enjoyed it. We ordered grilled calamari, seafood antipasto, and caprese for appetizers. For mains we ordered 2 veal piccata, linguine of the sea, and a penne in rose sauce. My colleague who ordered the veal piccata found a maggot in a tomato. We all lost our appetites, only being half way into our meals and majority of the food we ordered contained tomatoes. The owner was hardly apologetic, did not even attempt to compensate us for our meals until we brought it up and then offered to remove one appetizer. We then discussed how a maggot could be there, perhaps the tomato was not properly inspected and that can be understood from all parties considering the volume of food handled but more than likely it has to do with kitchen cleanliness. Had the situation been handled properly with a bit of class we may have been more forgiving but I will recommend all those in my network to avoid this place. read more

I will NEVER come here again. I've been to this place a few times, their food is mediocre, but was not a place to dismiss overall, until now. My friends and I came here to enjoy our annual holiday dinner. There is a law under the Alcohol and Gaming Commission that allows you to "Take Home the Rest", this only applies to wine. This is to ensure that establishments do not over serve wine to patrons. When you order a bottle of wine at any restaurant you can ask the employees to recork the wine so you can take it home. This establishment did not know about this and I had an argument with them for over what felt like over an hour. I was first arguing with our server, then I was arguing with someone who I think was the dining room manager, then I was arguing with who I think was the bar manager. This place doesn't know the difference between "Take Home the Rest" and BYOB laws. Nor do they know the difference between having open alcohol in public areas (open beers in the parking lot) and corked wine. They kept telling me that they will recork it and leave it at the bar so I can come back at a later date to finish, but at the same time they were telling me that they don't have a recork machine? So, then I asked them how they were going to recork my wine so I can come back at a later time? Then they told me it was a separate licence when I clearly showed them on the Alcohol and Gaming Commission, it is not! It once was, if they had bothered to read the licence. I was getting so frustrated because they were going around in circles. I kept asking for the bill because I wanted to get out and they kept saying, "we don't have a license to allow people to take home the wine", "you are not allowed to take home open bottles of wine", "I have been in the business for 25 years". They showed me their liquor license which only shows where alcohol can be served. After I paid my bill the bar manager came over and said that he had read the law and that I was right, that there is a "Take Home the Rest". I was so mad that these people have been in the business for 25 years and don't know their liquors laws.
