Food is average. Portion could be a bit more. I found the menu selection is not very extensive. Service is friendly but slow. Ambiance is good except there are so many food flies.

Always a good time dining at Joey Sherway! We went for their happy hour menu, and it did not disappoint, even though it was busy our server paid so much attention to us and interacted with us and was also very informative about the menu Can't wait to go back again!

This is a half portion of fries that come with the burger.

Dropped in here for some afternoon drinks and snacks. We had a great experience on their serving floor bar/lounge. Let me tell you, the staff here knows the meaning of teamwork. Granted it wasn't too busy, but everyone (hostess, server, bartender, kitchen staff, other server, someone who appeared to be a manager of some kind) was pitching in with our order and making sure we were enjoying ourselves. We're just a couple of ordinary people, but they treated us like VIPs!

For a chain restaurant, JOEY does very well in all aspects: the food, the service, the ambience. JOEY at Sherway Gardens Mall is actually not inside the mall, but in the same complex. Entrance is right at the parking lot. The inside is pretty big, spanning 2 floors. The main floor has a lot of booth-style seatings and larger dining tables, with a darker interior (and also cooler temperature). The second floor has a bar-like seating area with more sunlight and warmer temperature. The washrooms are located on the second floor. Service is great - fast, friendly, and the server we had was very knowledgeable and knew the ingredients of all the dishes on the menu inside-out. 1) Herb Crush Salmon (truffle beurre blanc, preserved tomatoes, creamy mashed potatoes, snap peas, asparagus) - JOEY was the first and only place we've been to where we we were asked how "well done" we wanted the salmon to be cooked. The server said the salmon would be "medium" and asked if it was okay (i.e. we could've asked for it to made more rare or more well done). We were okay with medium. No other restaurant (that serves salmon) has ever given us this option to choose! The dish came out very colourful with beautiful plating. The salmon was a good size. The green seasonings on top of the salmon, as well as the mashed potatoes and vegetables, were very flavourful. I didn't taste much of the truffle, but it was still delicious nonetheless. The vegetables (snap peas and asparagus) felt overcooked... I would've preferred more crisp vegetables. But it worked well with the creamy mashed potatoes. 2) Oven Roasted Wild Cod (with steamed and crispy rice, snap peas, cauliflower, herbed greens, Thai peanut curry sauce) - We were told that this dish had a bit of a kick, so we asked for the spicy peppers and peanut curry sauce to be served on the side, which they happily accommodated. The cod was nicely cooked, fluffy, and nicely seasoned on top. The cauliflower and snap peas were more on the soft side... wish they were more crisp. The steamed and crispy rice had a nice soft texture, that was mixed with bits of almond pieces which added a nice crunch. The peanut curry sauce was not spicy at all. I tasted more of the curry than the peanuts. I really liked the herbed greens that this dish came with. 3) Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes (crab, shrimps, and corn with panko crust, apple fennel salad, house-made tartar, toasted almonds) - LOVED the crab cakes here. There was minimal panko crust covering (only a light layer of panko crust on top, just enough to give it a nice crunch effect), and you could see actual big pieces of crab and corn in the crab cakes. The apple fennel salad was crunchy and a bit tangy, and I really liked the toasted almonds in the salad.

First time coming back here in a while and I'd say the food is great! To be honest, I'm surprised with some of the negative reviews that I've read here since the service we had was really good. I came here with my friend for a small celebration. She decided to get the steak and sushi, while I got the steak and ravioli. The steak itself was really tasty and cooked just as we asked - medium rare. The ravioli was very creamy and the prawns added a nice touch. I had a chance to steal her sushi and try the teppanyaki sauce - both delicious! I really loved the salmon sushi they had and I can totally see myself coming here just for that. Albeit it is not a traditional sushi restaurant and more "westernized" I think even sushi enthusiasts will appreciate the dishes here. I would say the only real complaint is that the dishes were a little cold coming to the table.

The steak and sushi combo are so good, my fave thing to get here! Service is decent and the ambiance is nice for dinner and conversation.

Some of the fastest service I ever had. Friendly, too. I started with a Mai tai crush. Not my usual drink but the orchid was too cute to resist, and it tasted great. I wasn't as wowed by the shrimp and lobster ravioli. It wasn't bad by any stretch of the imagination. Just something I've always wanted to try at any given restaurant, and now that I have, I won't seek it out again. They probably have more generous portions than other places I've seen that serve similar dishes.

The food was alright. Service was good. Ambiance was the best of the three. Overpriced wine, dirty wine glasses, interesting choice of ambiance music to say the least and bad seating options. Depending on the night you go, it could be a fantastic night out for food and drinks.

I cannot give a high enough review to this restaurant! I have dined here several times, and each time brought a new group of friends to show them what a wonderful place this is. Each time I've dined here I have been absolutely knocked over with the food taste and quality, and don't get me started on their egg yolk margaritas. From the moment you step inside you feel the hip vibe of the space, while also getting a lovely upscale flavor as well. Over my past various visits the staff have always made me and my guests feel like we were the number one priority. There is a small army of people running around with food and drinks, and even though you may interact with 3-4 servers / staff throughout the visit, there is never any confusion or miscommunication which happens nearly everywhere else. This visit we ordered the burger slider trio and the homemade guacamole- out of this world tasty. I'm not even joking when I say these sliders were melt in your mouth tasty, and the guacamole was done to perfection and paired great with the fresh chips. If I didn't leave nearly two hours away in the US, I would be here weekly. I'm already looking forward to my next trip here, and it hasn't even been a week.

It was standard Joey food. The servers were stellar but the food did take some time getting to us. The atmosphere is reminiscent of most standardized restaurants, a lot of friends just hanging out and having a good time.

Joeys, Earls, Cactus Club seem to be in every neighbourhood and mall which is pretty convenient but I never had any cravings to go. This time we were at the mall and decided to get something nearby and Cactus club was incredibly busy so we opted for Joeys instead. My first time back was actually a pleasant experience. I'm pretty surprised at the taste of the food. Jumbo crab cakes: crab, shrimp, corn with panko crust served with tartar sauce, this was pretty good. The mixture of sweet, savoury, creamy flavors worked well together and the apple fennel salad was tangy and crunchy Yellowfin tuna salad: does everyone go here for this? I remember having this when I came in the past and I think the flavours/textures were all on point. No wonder its such a hit! Prawn lobster ravioli: This was decent but not amazing, I felt it was too salty and something about the cheese threw me off. Pricing was comparable to a King St. restaurant, so I'd rather try a new restaurant I haven't been to. But I would come back next time I'm by a mall or before seeing a movie etc. for the convenience and consistency of the food.

Our adventure started before we even sat down. A gentleman came in to pick up his takeout order, and the lady behind the counter appeared to be sitting on his food bag. He wasn't too happy about it, and she kept insisting she wasn't sitting on it, just very, very close to it. At that point I thought, "Well... this evening is going to be interesting." Then, as soon as you walk in, the first thing that greets you isn't the music or the beautiful decor... it's the smell from the bathrooms. We looked at each other, laughed, and decided not to test our luck by going in there. The lounge was almost empty when we arrived around 11:00 p.m. on a weekday. My sister has a fractured back, so we politely asked if we could sit at one of the many larger tables. The waitress kept saying those tables were for big groups. We looked around at all the empty tables and thought maybe the big groups were just running fashionably late. She eventually let us sit there, saying we'd have to move if a large group arrived. I told her that was completely fine. Spoiler alert... we never had to move. Now, the hookah. I ordered my usual double apple, and my niece ordered the same flavor she orders everywhere we go. Somehow, both arrived tasting like... perfume. The gentleman who said he was the manager was wonderful. He replaced both hookahs right away, but unfortunately the new ones tasted exactly the same. My niece finally gave up and returned hers. When he asked about mine, I told him it still tasted like I was smoking perfume instead of shisha. He actually tried it himself, agreed something wasn't right, and kindly removed both hookahs and one of the drinks from our bill. That level of customer service was genuinely appreciated. I only tried the drinks and cheesecake, and I have to give them credit where it's due the presentation of the drinks was beautiful. They arrived on a tray with dry ice creating a rolling smoke effect and a little bonsai-style tree. It looked elegant, unique, and definitely got everyone's attention. My traditional virgin mojito was actually delicious. My sister's virgin strawberry margarita, however, seemed to be having a little identity crisis. We kept looking for the strawberry, but it never introduced itself. As for the cheesecake... it was okay. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing that made me say, "Wow, I need to come back for another slice." This place honestly has so much potential. The lounge is beautiful, and you can tell someone put a lot of effort into creating the space. I think with better quality maasal and someone who really knows hookah, this place could become a favorite. As a Middle Eastern customer, I know how serious people are about shisha, and with a few improvements, I think they'd have people coming back for both the atmosphere and the experience. The funny part? After we got home, I started reading the reviews online and was genuinely surprised by how many people had experiences similar to ours. Apparently, we weren't the only ones! And finally... thank you, ChatGPT, for recommending this place. I guess even AI has an off day once in a while. Would I come back? Maybe. I'm a big believer in second chances... just not third chances for perfume-flavored hookah. The lounge itself is gorgeous, and the manager genuinely did everything he could to make things right, which I really appreciated. I truly hope they make a few improvements because this place has all the ingredients to become an amazing spot. I'd honestly love to update this review one day and give them five stars.

Is this one of those other places that only looks good but has crappy food? We're about to find out. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed with the quality and taste of the food. I ordered 2 items for takeout and while it might have been a better/different experience if it was dine-in, I think the taste would've still been the same. The interiors was decorated nicely, giving a luxury chill vibe. Parking is in the lot and you need to go down a set of stairs to get to the restaurant entrance, which in my opinion is not very accessible friendly. Anyway, now for the food. Portion? Generous. Taste? Horrible. I ordered 2 items: their chow mein and momos medley. The overall pricing on the menu is ridiculous, with appetizers starting at $18 and mains going up to $80. Their platter for 4 is $160. Right off the bat I thought this place was ridiculously overpriced but alas I wanted to try it to see if it's worth it or if the qualify of the food is there, and that it's not just a place for show. I was extremely disappointed, but more so, a little disgusted. I could not finish my meal without forcing myself to do so. The chow mein tasted as if they had dumped a jar of sauce to cover up the tasteless dish. The flavour came from the overly saucy flavour that could be tasted in every single bite. I like sauce with my food, just not when it's drowning in it. The other thing I noticed is that it had a kick to it after eating so in the moment as you would eat, it wasn't spicy but the moment I finished, I felt the spice kick in. It left a noticeable spicy aftertaste. Now for the momos, the complete opposite of the noodles. The momos were filled generously but it seemed that there was no spices or flavors added to it at all. It didn't taste good. It did come with some chili oil and hot sauce on the side, but again that didn't help to up the flavor and make it tasty. Would I come back even if the interiors were nice? Probably not. The most important is the food and in this case, it was just a disappointment and a waste of money.

Overall, they have great portions and value for their food and the interior feels very private and intimate. We were here as a party of 4 and were truly stuffed and needed to take home quite a bit of food. The apps and starters can all be shared as the portions are quite large and heavy. Everything has extra cheese, cream, and/or oil added. Ordering was quick and the first course came out around 10 mins after ordering and the mains about 30 mins or so. - bread and butter as well as water is available at the start of the meal - the seafood chowder (fish) was super rich and creamy, it was the highlight of the meal, sharing one is enough for 4 (we had two and with the rest of the meal was too much) - the italian salad was refreshing, but also heavy with dressing, one was good to share - the poseiden calamari was super fresh and crispy, a great app and again sharing one is enough (we ordered two and it was too much) - the veal ossobuco was very well seasoned and the saffron risotto is rich and creamy (very shareable for two people) - the fettuccine sea and land was packed with protein and perfectly done (again shared between two people is best) - the linguine of the sea in cream sauce was topped with a load of seafood and perfect as well (sharing would be ideal) Overall, a great place to have a long night of enjoying food and company, but the food is heavy and oily. Share basically everything with another person or just take the leftovers home to enjoy. Will be back for the calamari and chowder again as well as trying their pizza. Great go-to option for all occasions.
