Everything is good here. All of the dishes are fresh and authentic. My favorites are the chicken tortilla soup, Mango Shrimp!!!!!, crab quesadillas, enchiladas, and fish tacos. But you cant go wrong with anything on the menu. read more

Conveniently disappointing. Cactus Flower is conveniently located just off 98 in a little strip mall. It boasts a stellar 4.5 star Yelp rating as of this writing, and I simply do not see why, as our entire dining experience could generously be summed up as average. The wait staff was fairly attentive, but not overly personable. The tortilla chips we were given to munch on while we waited for our food were the worst I've ever had at a Mexican Restaurant; they reminded me of a bag of below average store-bought tortilla chips. The our main dishes were fair eating, I did enjoy my mahi tacos, while the others in my party reported their respective burrito and quesadilla as mostly bland, "Americanized" Mexican cuisine. Overall, Cactus Flower Cafe was an ok lunch destination, but I would not go out of my way to recommend it to anyone, and although the tortilla chip complaint may seem frivolous and nit-picky to some, it's kind of a big deal to me when dining at a Mexican restaurant, and really started this experience out on the wrong foot. Fast service as soon as we walked in. Like all Mexican spots, you are served chips and salsa when you sit down. Chips seemed a bit generic, too similar to some famous bag chips, salsa was good. Everything from that point on was awesome! Johnny was our server, he did a fantastic job. I ordered guacamole, WHICH IS A MUST, It was very fresh, chunks of avocado, better or as good of guac as I've had anywhere! Very tasty pork wrap with black beans with rice. The black beans are on point, the rice was tasty and the guacamole could use a bit more salt and lime in it but that's is a personal choice for me. We tried Cactus Flower Cafe while in Navarre due to the high rating on Yelp. It is a small restaurant so either call ahead to check on the wait times or go during an off hour. I thought the meal was decent, not great. Probably my biggest complaint was the chips they use. A big component for me when I eat Mexican or Tex-Mex food are the chips! I could have sworn that the chips served are the same Tostitos tortilla chips that I can buy in any supermarket. If they switched their chips up to that freshly made right out of the kitchen and served warm variety, then my rating would have been higher. My main dish was pretty solid which was the verde enchilidas with the tenderloin. My wife had a quesadilla that was massive so if you're hungry then that is not a bad choice either. Another miscellaneous item that annoyed me about coming here was that it was extra for items like sour cream or guacamole with your main entree. For the style of food, I felt too nickle and dimed. Again, good option in the area for Mexican, just not as great as all the reviews would indicate. read more

I had originally given the place four stars, but they get the extra star from their flan alone. Our server was really sweet, and she put up with our requests really well. The food was incredible. We each ordered a different thing at the table, and not a single person was disappointed. I had the Mahi Tacos, but I got them grilled instead of fried. We also ordered a chicken burrito, a chicken quesadilla, and shrimp tacos. All of it was really fantastic. The chips and salsa were also homemade and incredible. And the fresh guacamole was superb. We were in the mood for good Mexican food and the Cactus Flower did not disappoint! We were pleasantly surprised by the welcoming atmosphere as we entered.. very warm and lightly upscale. The chips and delightfully fresh salsa kept us happy until our entrees arrived. Hubby got the trio of tacos and I chose the pork tostada. The freshness and flavors were fantastic! Jack, our attentive server kept the delicious wine margaritas filled. The desserts looked very tempting.. but we were just too full! Not the best location. The inside though was pretty nice and clean. The food was AWESOME. Some of the best tacos and chips & salsa I've ever had. The service however was not good. They were not busy when we came, but our waitress somehow managed to forget she was serving us. We asked her if we could get our ticket and she goes, "Sure, who's your waitress?" Mexican food for those who don't know Mexican food. Amazingly lovely staff. Our server was very attentive and extremely nice. The food however was a little disappointing. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great. They don't have a liquor license so margaritas are made with wine. Decent but not what I want when i want a margarita. The chips tasted like Tostitos. I'm actually curious to know if they really are Tostitos. I got shrimp tacos and my husband got a green Chile burrito I think. Everything tasted sort of store bought. Like verde from a jar and salsa from a jar. Overall, I may eat here again but not under the notion that I was eating Mexican. It's very Americanized. Not even Tex Mex. But the food is good and their chicken finger kids meal was devoured by both boys and probably some of the best chicken strips I've ever had. The cheese dip was very very bland I had them take it off my ticket because it just was not good. Margarita had like no alcohol in it I couldn't taste any..
