This place was surprisingly good. The atmosphere is pleasing though a little dark. They serve salsa, which had the perfect amount of cilantro, out of a beautiful glass pitcher. I had the vegetarian chimichanga but I had to pay $2 more for onions and bell peppers. That is why I gave it a 4 star instead of five. I got the lime rice with it. It was really good. I don't like spicy things and it had just the right amount of seasoning. The ladies I was with loved their California Sangria. They said it was on the sweet side. My sister tried the Mahi Mahi tacos because they were highly recommended. She did. not like them. They were VERY SPICY and fishy. This is a great place with reasonable prices and friendly service. We were hesitant at first to do Mexican food at the beach but I'm not a seafood person so we decided to give it a try. It was a more upscale atmosphere then we expected but all of the diners were casually dressed. Chips were not homemade and sub-par but everything else was delicious. I ordered the Chile Relleno and it was terrific. Great flavors and texture. The quesadillas were huge and a crowd pleaser. Our waiter Jack was very attentive and did a fantastic job. My sons food came out like 3 minutes behind everything else and they forgot to add sour cream to my meal but we didn't notice and were not bothered by it and made no mention to the staff, but Jack ended up bringing us a free Tres Leches desert which was also amazing. This place was somewhat busy when we walked in. It was very clean like several other people have mentioned. When we received our chips and salsa it wasnt very spicy but had a nice authentic taste. I asked our server if they had anything spicier and she said "no but I will go make you some fresh". I thought that was wonderful, and it was PERFECT! The burrito here was HUGE and very tasty.I would highly recommend it. The sangria was super easy to drink. It reminded me of grape kool aid. We came in for my sister's bachelorette party with 5 women and had an AMAZING time. Our service was awesome. All the staff was very sweet and attentive. The food portions were so big that none of us finished our meals. This is not my 1st great experience at this restaurant and definitely won't be my last. Best restaurant in Navarre, and I'd venture to say the best Mexican food I've ever had. Cactus Flower is the perfect mix between your typical Mexican joint and something more gourmet. Even though our host couldn't estimate how long the wait would be (odd), we waited about 45 minutes and it was totally worth it. Our server knew what she was doing, she was really knowledgable and was very attentive. We order the guac (great), I got the Burrito (even better), and the family ordered one of every dessert (oh my god I've had dreams about the banana butter cake ever since). Everyone in the family of seven, ages 10-45, LOVED their meal. The best part? The three course meal plus drinks was cheaper than any other dinner we had in vacation. Atmosphere a bit odd, but every restaurant in Navarre struggles with this I realized. Besides that, I cannot recommend this more highly! read more

Food was good, was very disappointed that they did not have the same specials as the Pensacola location. On the website it does not say it is location specific BUT the prices vary. Only after I went to the restaurant I discovered the Navarre menu was on Facebook and showed no specials. Again, I was very disappointed........I really wanted some tamales. read more

The black pinto beans are exceptionally good as a side for the Mahi Mahi fish tacos. Service was prompt and polite. One negativity found, was the very acidic flavored chips and salsa, though the hostess said it was consistently different, being freshly made each morning. Also, advertises as a Cal-Mex restaurant. Great mexican food. A little variation on it (They call it Californian Mexican). Whatever they call it -its delicious. I have been here a few times when visiting the area. The servers always friendly as well. Its kinda hard to find but people are finding it since there has always been a full restaurant each time I have been there. I am visiting the area to do some exploring before our PCS over the summer. I wanted to try a local place and Mexican food is my favorite. The Cactus Flower did not disappoint! I called to order for curbside pickup. It was about an hour until my pickup time, but I expected that because it was dinner time! I went to pickup and was immediately kindly greeted and given my food. I got the queso dip and chicken quesadilla! Both delicious! Chimichangas were delicious! My wife was sure between the Mahi Mahi Tacos or the Santa Fe Enchiladas. She went with the tacos but was a fan of them, sauce was too strong, so the waitress came back with the enchiladas. Excellent service! read more

I was super excited to try this place out for my birthday dinner last night. After reading all of the raving reviews, and seeing the solid 4 stars, I figured it was going to be amazing. We get there just before 7. I kinda figured there would be a bit of a wait, so when my husband checked in and was told 20 minutes, I thought nothing of it. 25 minutes go by, and my husband checks with the hostess. She tells us we're the next ones to be seated. After that, we see at least two other parties be seated before us. 40 minutes later, our name finally gets called. One of the main things I was excited about was their claim to freshness and everything being made in house. We get the chips and salsa...chips are the EXACT same chips I buy at the store every week. The salsa solely tasted like cilantro. Now, I LOVE cilantro. But that was the ONLY flavor coming from it. I ordered the wine margarita cause...what could be better than those two mixed together, right?! Yeahhhh...it was limeade poured over ice with a salt rim. Nothing resembling either wine, or a margarita other than the salt. But that doesn't make it a margarita. I'm not usually one to send things back (or write long reviews). I've worked in restaurants for years and I feel bad being THAT person, but I could not drink that juice. I apologized to the server and told him I just did not care for it. He was very nice and took it off the bill. Then he tells me, "Don't worry this happens all the time. Because it's a different kind of margarita, it gets sent back ALL the time." Okay, if your "specialty" drink is getting sent back ALL THE TIME, shouldn't you change up the formula?? I've had different types of drinks at other restaurants before, and never felt the need to send them back. Then our entrees come. I ordered the chimmichanga with shrimp and my husband ordered the burrito. The chimmi was literally just fried cheese with 4 pieces of shrimp. Not really appetizing. I ordered black beans for my side, and got pinto. The server was very nice and brought out a bowl of black beans for me. My husband did enjoy his burrito, so I was happy about that. All of that being said, the service was AMAZING. We had 2 servers (I think one of them was training). They both were very nice and attentive. They engaged my 18 month old, so that's always a plus with me. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be going back. I don't feel like it was worth the hassle or wait time. The group of us had burritos, chimichanga and a quesadilla, was ok, nothing amazing, we have eaten Mexican food in many states and places, so not our first rodeo. Guacamole was good and salsa too. This place wasn't all that good. The chips tasted like they came from a regular bag of chips from Walmart. They were not fresh. The quesadilla was impossible to eat with how much cheese it's got in it. My husband and I both got stomachaches after our meal. Service was decent, other than that I don't think I'd recommend this place to friends and family. I have been in Navarre for a while now and finally tried Cactus Flower for the first and last time. Not their fault but I always like a margarita w a Mexican meal and all I could get was a wine a Rita's which tasted like a non alcoholic margarita. Then for the appetizer, queso dip. It tasted like it was made from a powder mix, inedible. Sent it back. For the entree I ordered enchiladas mole. Mole is a savory mexican chocolate sauce. There was no Mexican chocolate to be found in this version of mole. Also to ask for one of the three enchiladas to be of a different meat selection I was up charged a dollar yet if they were all the same not matter of the meat choice no up charge. I find this such a rip off because all the meat is sitting there ready to be used, there is no special preparation necessary. On top of that I was up charged $3.75 additional for a little cup of quacamole and sour cream. Really.. highway robbery. The near filling was fine, sides typical. read more

My wife and I were here for dinner during Christmas 2012. We went back last night with four other people. The service, food, and especially the presentation of the food was incredible!!!!!! It was my wife's birthday - they sang to her and brought her cake. Everyone loved the food and the ambience. We really wanted to love this place, but it didn't do the job in the end. The chips seemed cheap and the queso was chalky. Sangria tasted more like fruit punch, very light on alcohol. Guacamole was good, but lacked spice or flavor and the burrito was great. The general experience was ok. They forgot to seat us and sat multiple people before us which left us waiting 45 min when there were only a few people before us. So it didn't start off great abd never really recovered.
