    Lunch!
    Rachel H.

Ambiance - clean, bright and smells smoky on entrance - I love a good smoky cooking scent! Food - top notch! Intro chips and salsa were good! Chips 5/5, but salsa may be more like 3/5 - I just found it a bit "typical" like a store bought salsa or something. But it was plenty tasty for us to enjoy it! All their lunch options cost. Bit less and come in smaller portions - ALLLLL of which tasted amazing. It came out pretty quickly too! Server was totally awesome, although her name escapes me. And although we did not indulge in the margaritas today, I've heard they're INCREDIBLE and not made from a mix. Just pure goodness!!

The food was massive and seasoned to the gods. I got the fajita trio and it was so much for just two people. The serives was amazing we were asked if we needed refills and anything else , not to the point of being annoying, but receiving great service. The only complaint that I have is that when sitting next to the bar, there were plenty of fruit flies. I didn't see any in drinks or food , just annoying.

We love this place for a quick and easy stop for Mexican food. We always prefer the outside seating so we can take our pup. We always order the Espinaca cheese dip and I always get a chicken enchilada and any of the taco options. My husband loves the chimichanga. The he margaritas are always good and LARGE. My favorite is the jalapeño margarita. We will definitely be back!

I live a mile away from this Cactus Grill and have been many times. It can get super busy during prime hours, but I've never had to wait longer than 20 minutes. Highlights for me would be the chips and salsa along with the espinaca dip. Espinaca dip is a must every time and is one of the main reasons I frequent Cactus Grill. The chips are light and crispy and perfect for cheese dip. I've tried many menu items. My most frequent order is the house chimichanga. I'm not a huge fan of the rice options I've had here. I know Cactus Grill is tex-mex, but I prefer a more traditional Mexican rice rather than the desert or cilantro rice here. I also prefer the refried beans over the black beans. It can get pretty loud as it's typically busy. There are a few tvs generally playing sports. There's also a nice outdoor seating area for when the weather is nice. I generally enjoy Cactus Grill and will continue to dine here. I will say the service can be a bit inconsistent. I would probably go with 3.5 stars if I could but not there to go up to 4 stars.

Stumbled on this restaurant driving through Kansas. Food was really good. Fresh. Homemade tortillas and taco shells. The mahi tacos some of the best I've had. TVs all over restaurant to watch the game. Staff all friendly. Prompt service and prices were reasonable

Cactus grill never disappoints! We started off with espinaca dip, loaded with chicken guac and fresco peppers, it was pretty good, no complaints. For Bev I got a frozen strawberry marg, very yummy and not too sweet! I know it's odd to order salmon at a Mexican restaurant but their blackened salmon always hits! Paired with cilantro rice, veggies and corn it was the perfect meal. Our server was very good! Definitely recommend!

I come here often and would recommend in general. It can get busy during dinner time so there is sometimes a wait for a table. Their cheese dip is really good and one of the top reasons that I keep going back! I have loved the fish tacos. I would not recommend the wings or the poke bowl. There are many items on the menu that I still want to try out so I will continue to return!

The food is very good and the quesadilla was cooked perfectly and tastes amazing the next food is Chips the chips tasted flavorful and well salted. The service is amazing and the food came within 20 minutes and the waiter checked in around every 10 minutes. Why I gave this a 3/5 was because there was a very long hair in my queso and i have short hair so it couldn't have been mine. The experience or rather ambiance was pretty good although it was a little loud. I hope you find this helpful.

The grilled chicken quesadilla at Cactus Grill in Overland Park hit the spot during my lunch break! The guacamole, pico, & lettuce side to top your quesadilla with was super fresh. The chips were light and perfectly salted. Service was quick and very nice!

Had a great night a cactus grill thanks to Holly. Her service was a 10 out of 10, so attentive in her suggestions were spot on.

The service was okay! Nothing super special but they answered questions and were helpful at the counter. This was our first time here so we ordered a few things to sample and share amongst ourselves. The first thing we had was the chips and queso, which I thought was a bit expensive at $7.99 but not too bad. The queso was fairly spicy but otherwise nothing special. I usually love queso so it surprised me how neutral I felt toward it! The chips were good, thin and light with a crispy bite to them. We unfortunately didn't get to try the salsa, noticing only at the end of our meal that there was a sauce bar near the counter! The birria tacos were also...okay. They were very juicy but not very uniquely flavored compared to everything else we tried. The meat was tender and I loved the texture of the tortilla, but didn't care for the massive handful of cilantro dropped on top of everything on the plate. The dipping liquid (birria sauce?) was alright! It was the same flavor as the tacos themselves so it didn't add much, but it definitely wasn't bad. The "main course" of what we ordered was a combo of soft chicken tacos, rice, and beans. The chicken tacos were unfortunately very cold by the time we got them which was a bit strange, as almost everything else was hot! They tasted good but I'm really not a fan of eating cold chicken, so I passed them off to my friends. The beans were just okay. There's really not much to say about them. The rice also left me disappointed! I typically devour Spanish rice. Not only was it cold, there were also odd, hard grains of rice mixed in. Not enough to get one every bite but enough that the experience of eating it was off-putting. It was also quite bland. Another note: While we were eating, there was this constant loud droning coming from the air conditioner. I'm a MASSIVE fan of air conditioning so I'm grateful it was on in the first place, but that is something they really need to get fixed. Two women seated near us actually got up and walked outside after commenting multiple times about how disturbing the noise was. My experience here was definitely a mixed bag but it leaned toward the positive, so we'll likely try them again! They had several other menu items I'd like to try, including some American fare that I found intriguing.

My build-your-own weekday lunch ($8) included choice of entrée, choice of beans and rice. It was served just ten minutes after I ordered at the table, which gave me time to dig into the complimentary chips and mild (with a little kick), somewhat chunky salsa. The chicken tinga burrito was packed full of moist, white chicken and topped with a very flavorful sauce and cheese. I found the black beans to be pretty good, but the rice was somewhat dry and clumpy. The dining area had a central bar area, unique light fixtures, a mix of booths and tables, Mexican decor, Mexican background music (not too loud), a table-side cart for fresh guacamole and several backdrop spots for photos. I also noticed two rollup garage doors leading to the covered patio area. The food and drink menus included Mexican favorites, taco flights, taquito flights, margarita flights, 88 tequilas, meals for the kiddos and brunch (Sat & Sun 11AM - 2PM). Overall, very nice, especially for the lunch price.

We tried the Texas dip. Omg you have to have it. The shrimp and cheesy sauce it was in, will be one of my favs anywhere. Chips and salsa were warm, fresh and very good. We shared a combo platter with a beef taco, chicken tamale and a beef burrito. All were solid. Beans and rice were different but very good. Lastly we did a fun margarita flight. You get to pick four and they were pretty good but a lil $$ when you think about paying that much when the four together likely barely makes a regular size margarita. I'll be returning for the dip alone.

My #33 fajita burrito lunch ($11.99) included a nicely sized burrito packed with plenty of tasty, moist meat and fajita veggies. It was served just nine minutes after I ordered at the table, which gave me time to dig into the complimentary thin & crispy chips, salsa verde and mild, tasty salsa. I found the service to be stellar - attentive, cheerful, friendly and polite - nice! The beverage, chips and salsa refills kept coming. The spacious interior was clean and colorful with a main dining area, a secondary dining area and a bar area with more seating. I noticed Mexican background music and several TVs in the bar area. Parking in downtown OP is a free for all, so the lot in front of the restaurant was full before the restaurant opened. It's good that there were plenty of free parking lots and street parking nearby. Overall, very good!
