I cannot believe I was able to get in to see a vet within a day of calling. My cat had been shaking her head due to a yeast infection in both ears. Liquid was coming from somewhere. I got in the next day. Well, I was given an appt. but I couldn't get my cat into her carrier. They were graceful and gave me an appt. the next day. When trying to put my cat in the carrier after the visit, it took 2 technicians over 15 minutes. I think they understood why I couldn't make my first appointment. The technicians were great and Dr. DeCiero was the most thorough veterinarian I have ever seen. Although I understand how expensive it is to take care of our animals, I was shocked at how steep the prices were for simple things like putting an otoscope in my cat's ears. However, they are EXTRAORDINARILY transparent about the cost of treatment as the visit begins and progresses. The treatment of the infection made sense for the price but the overhead costs were wild. However, the convenience and the health of my cat comes first. I will be back but I hope it's not any time soon! read more

Updated review: after initial consult, we set out a dental plan and minor surgery for her initial injury. I dropped her off that morning then picked her up that afternoon and they had to do a little more work than expected but came in UNDER their initial estimate. Not that it would have mattered in terms of what she needed or would have received, but it's great to know they take a careful approach to doing right by pets and owners. Hi, After I called and communicated that Dr. Lott referred me to an internal medicine doctor who's negligent care resulted in my pet's death, it was completely inappropriate for Dr. Lott and your staff to send me a "sorry your pet died" card. It's been less than two months since my cat was abruptly taken from me, and I am still very much in pain. I called to let Dr. Lott know the consequences of her actions, and to ask her not to refer anyone to this doctor again - she took no accountability and did not say that she'd stop sending pets to this doctor. Before the botched procedure, I told her that I didn't want to go to this place due to its horrific reviews, and she still pushed me to go. Now, when I'm trying to move on with my life, the people who are partially responsible and take no accountability send me a card about it. This is not okay. We took our fur baby to our normal vet where they had no idea what the issue was she was having. I did a little research online for the best vets in Austin and came across Austin Vet Hospital. I was worried maybe our dog had something going on that no one had seen before and on top of that, she's a nervous German Shepherd who has the temperament of a Golden Retriever, so I didn't want her to be treated as a vicious doggo from the streets of south Bronx. We made an appointment and we saw Dr. DeCiero and her wonderful assistant who took the time to warm up to our fur baby with the help of some cheese (literally my dogs favorite treat) and make her comfortable around the dreaded lab coat. Dr. DeCiero was able to quickly identify what was causing our fur baby's issues and was not only able to give us medication to take home right then and there but a referral to another specialist in the area for further treatment options. All in all, we were literally treated like family from the moment we stepped foot in the door. We will be coming back for all of our routine doggo health maintenance needs. Quick, Friendly, and not too expensive. First visit with my new pup i got in the beginning of the month. I wanted to associate myself with a vet and just go in for a quick checkup to make sure he was okay. This place is down the street from my home so i figured it was best and they had good reviews on google. I walked in and they immediately took me back which was great. Vet tech was super nice and my dog loved her. The vet scanned my dog from head to toe pointing out little things here and there. What i liked most, was they werent trying to make things up just to make you throw money at them. My dog chipped a tooth and usually, places try to get you to immediately extract it or do something unnecessary thats alot of money- the vet assured me the baby tooth was going to fall out anyway and to keep an eye on it so it doesnt become infected. Im from jersey and vets there are like $200 a visit. Here, my visit was only $75 and i got meds. So im impressed with the way they handled our visit. Im put at ease knowing theres a good vet down the street to take care of my puppy. Theyre busy though so call a few days/weeks in advance for your appointment! read more

I had the best experience at Austin Vet Hospital last week. My pup all of a sudden was having blood in his stool and I was freaked, I called in a panic and they kindly squeezed me in the same day ( I was a new patient and hadn't been here before). Both the vet tech and vet were kind and patient to both my pet & me, taking the time to let him get comfy. AVH has been amazing to my furbaby since we moved here five years ago. From annual check-ups & vaccines to teeth cleaning, their staff is warm, kind, and so helpful. I've taken him for three teeth cleanings there now and they are always reasonable with pricing, going over everything in detail. I should've written this review years ago, but I went in today and said, "I'm here to pick up the cutest cat in the world," the staff immediately knew I meant my sweet Shimoda. AVH truly loves my kitty as much as I do (even if the feeling isn't mutual on his end)! read more

I called and explained how my dog has had diarrhea for the past 36 hours and it's only getting worse. The girl on the phone asked if I had taken my pet there before and then said they only took appointments. Didn't try to help me get one for today didn't even try to send me elsewhere that could help. If that's how you treat a desperate dog parent over the phone I don't wanna find out what you're like in person at your animal center. Will never go here and will never recommend your selfish services. Real veterinarians don't just care about money and appointments!!! read more

My cat was likely run over on a Thursday night, vet didn't think so, said he probably got caught trying to go somewhere where he couldn't fit, concluded that he has some arthritis in his knee. That may be the case, but she said nothing of his foot, which still looks swollen. I paid extra for an emergency visit, and now, Monday morning, with the cat still in pain (the pain meds can only be taken for 3 days max), that vet isn't in today, but after multiple calls, I'm still waiting for one of the other vets to respond to my calls. the clerk said she would be happy to book me for an emergency visit -- for another $100! -- but I'm still waiting to get the emergency care I paid for on Friday. After this ordeal is over, I will be finding a new vet! read more

We had a great experience at the Austin Vet Hospital today (3/20/24). We took our kitty Snowball for a full check up this morning under special circumstances. We appreciated the help from all the staff and the vet who saw Snowball. Everyone was amazingly helpful and nice, and we were grateful that their immediate response to our problem was to find a way to help us. We also appreciate that Doug, who manages AVH, reached out to us about a previous negative review i gave them. We explained the reasons and he was very understanding and agreed about our concerns. This is an email i wrote to Austin Vet Hospital the day after my Mearle passed. My review isn't representative of the skill level of the vets that work here. But I cannot recommend a place where the front lines can be so callous. (Also I did not receive a reply) I write to you heartbroken. Mearle, Sadie and I have been coming to you for years. Last night, 10 minutes after 5, I called you hysterical, alone. I know my dog, my best friend Mearle was dying and I didn't have a lot of time. I didn't have time to punch in a number of another vet or to find directions to 183 in rush hour traffic. I didn't have time to do anything but get him to you as fast as I could. After tripping up with the phone number and address of the emergency vet you recommenced (30 minutes away) desperation set it and I decided I had to try to come to y'all. I called again to say I had to come, and once again was turned away. My best friend died in the car with me while I was stuck in traffic on 45th trying to get to Lamar. I could have been at your office by then. Why didn't you let me talk to a Vet? Why didn't you ask me what symptoms I saw? Why did you so casually turn me away just because it was 15 minutes after closing time??? I don't expect a reply back. I'm not sure what you could even say. I will say once I find a new vet, I'll ask you send my paperwork to them. i cannot come to Austin Vet Hospital anymore. read more

Can't recommend this place enough. The front office staff are always incredibly professional and helpful in addition to the doctors being great. I brought my cat to AVH for four years throughout her life and they always provided amazing care while also being sensitive to the fact that I was a graduate student with limited income (i.e. always talked about cost up front and provided different options). They were especially helpful toward the end of her life when her chronic kidney disease started accelerating and were so caring throughout the euthanasia and cremations processes when the time came. My cat lived to be just over 20 and a half years old. I am so grateful for the high quality care my pet and I received from everyone at AVH. read more

Austin pet Village Hospital is the best hands down veterinarian group I have ever met . I have been all over the Charlotte region and nobody compares to Austin pet Village Hospital . I have a miniature dachshund who is now 18 and a half years old, he goes on 3:30 minute walks a day , he has an appetite that never quits and thoroughly enjoys his life . Other vets were wanting to put him down because of his age , but yet they still seen his spark and he is here today I can't thank them enough and I will always be grateful . This places seems pretty popular. The staff is friendly. Some people just come off a trail and bring their dogs in to weigh them on the scale in the front lobby. Staff doesn't seem to mind. I do wish there were separate cat and dog entrances. Cats seem to get pretty nervous and dogs can be more rambunctious and are definitely more used to riding in cars, etc. Front desk service is pretty good. I've only experienced one doctor as of late. She's slow to get back with lab reports, emailing teports, and general call backs. I understand the front office gives a 24-48 call back time for the doctors. 48 hours is too long. Doesn't society pretty much think of their pets as people? Is 48 hours quick enough of your own medical doctor? We will continue to go here as it serves our need. read more

I had such a great experience here! Everyone was so nice and they didn't try to upsell me anything like my last vet! My dog has been a little under the weather and the vet here told me it was acute and would heal itself. My last vet would have run every test under the sun and would have charged me hundreds. Embarrassingly rude. I asked for only annual shots for both my dogs so they could be boarded. As had happened previously, the tech tried to convince me to do additional procedures I was not interested in, and I told her "only annual shots, thanks." Dogs went in the back, came back, I paid, and when I looked at my detailed bill after I got home, I saw that one dog hadn't been given all his shots AND I had been charged for a treatment I said I did not want. I went back to the hospital and met with Doug the manager about my concerns, and Doug literally told me that I should have someone else in my family bring the dogs in next time because clearly I didn't understand what the hospital was trying to tell me and could not communicate what I wanted properly. WOW. I was genuinely shocked - still am. Then, after my son wrote a negative review about the way Doug treated me, Doug e-mailed me my dogs' vet records and told me we were no longer welcome at Austin Vet Hospital, where we'd taken our dogs for over a decade. Unbelievable. I have never received such embarrassingly rude customer service in my life. I am happily taking my business elsewhere and informing everyone I can to do the same. read more

Dr. Cao answered my many questions patiently and provided a lot of insight and suggested supplements that could benefit my aging dog. They are "by appointment only" even if your dog is having an EMERGENCY and you arrive at the BEGINNING of opening hours and there are NO OTHER PEOPLE OR PETS THERE. They were willing to see my dog three days from now when she might not be hemorrhaging blood, GREAT! THANKS GUYS!!! How this place has such a high rating is beyond me, they should be called an "upscale pet "reservation only" place", certainly not a "hospital" (a hospital will see patients if they are willing to wait during business hours). Always there to help no matter how big or small the problem may be!!

We brought our new puppy into Austin Vet Hospital on a Tuesday for a routine vet examination. She had been acting strange just that morning--not eating and very lethargic. I won't go into the details of the vet appointment, but I will say it was off-putting. The doctor seemed hurried and distracted and initially presented me with a worrying possible prognosis without much more than handing me a sheet explaining what it was. After an x-ray, the doctor told me that my puppy had "growing pains." She said the x-ray showed swelling and she gave me some pain-killers and sent me on my way. My puppy didn't get better. She got much, much worse. By Wednesday night, she was puking. She didn't eat all day Thursday and was vomiting the whole day. They told us to bring her in on Friday if she wasn't better. At our appointment on Friday, a different (and lovely) vet examined my puppy. When she came in to talk to me she seemed very concerned and confused. She told me that my puppy's x-rays looked normal and didn't seem to know why she was diagnosed with growing pains. She said that when a puppy is sick, her first two actions are 1) test for parvo and 2) check for intestinal blockage (none of these things were mentioned with the previous vet). She checked for both of these things and they were negative. She ran a blood test and told me that my puppy most likely had a life-threatening infection and needed to go to the hospital immediately. After this, my husband wrote an angry email to the director of Austin Vet Hospital. Our puppy was in critical condition and we were paying thousands of dollars in vet bills. Her condition went untreated for 3 days because of a misdiagnoses that a different vet insinuated made no sense. Keep in mind that this letter was stern, but not threatening and did not use any profanity. My husband just got off the phone with the director. According to him, they did everything right. He said that the first vet said our puppy's joints seemed to be bothering her (she did not tell us this & our puppy was not limping and had no limited mobility. She was jumping around the previous day). He also managed to make my husband feel guilty for sending the email and told us that we should not come back to Austin Vet hospital. Don't worry.
