Really loved this clinic and truly value the staff they have their that helped me in more ways than one. They are in my neighborhood in Clarksville. I was unfortunately faced with the incredibly tough decision to put my best friend to sleep after 17 1/2 wonderful years. It was so hard and I've never had to do something like that before but they made the experience as peaceful and stress free as possible. I initially anticipated harsh florescent lights, a quick euthanasia and the room feeling very cold. Couldn't be further from the actual experience. Peaceful music playing with a grief care package, I got to hold my sweet baby until his very last moment, feed him chicken nuggets and stay with him for as long as I wanted after. Beyond grateful to the staff at West Lynn clinic. They were able to provide me and Smokey with such empathetic support every step of the way and really took perfect care of my baby. ~love ya forever Smokey bear and I'll see you so soon ~

My usual vet, who we have been seeing since adopting the cat almost 2 years ago, rudely dismissed my concerns over the phone and insisted that I needed to pay an $80 office visit fee just to get an answer to my question over the phone (the question was "What does the PCR panel test for?"). I started calling every other vet in Austin to find a clinic that has experience with Tritrichomonas and that I felt comfortable with. Several clinics admitted that they did not know what the parasite was or had never treated it before. Another lied and said "oh, that is super easy to treat and really common and straightforward!" which I knew was not accurate from the empirical literature online. I finally found Austin Urban Vet and the experience we have had so far has genuinely been night and day different from pervious clinics. From the very first call, the AUV team was empathetic to our situation, VERY transparent about pricing (they provided it in writing), and explicitly clear about which PCR diagnostic panel they use at AUV and exactly what it tests for. They were open and honest about their experience with Tritrichomonas and I immediately felt at ease and confident in the care that they could provide my cat. After chatting with my partner about my findings from calling almost every vet in Austin, we both agreed Austin Urban Vet was the best one to move forward with, so we made an appointment. Right off the bat, I was happy to find that AUV has a private parking lot (for free!). I headed inside with my cat and the team at the front desk was so kind and helpful. They quickly checked me in and invited me to grab a bottle of water or make myself a cup of coffee as I waited for the tech to take us into the room. We waited for maybe ~5 minutes before the tech took us to the exam room, where she scanned my cat for her microchip, weighed her, and asked questions about the presenting problem, history, etc. Dr. Helen was who attended us for the exam itself, and she was so kind and thorough. I really felt that she was providing genuine feedback, and she was honest about her experience with this parasite. She was transparent about the treatment plan and let me know her general thoughts (Ie., "If she is still positive, we will do X. If she is negative, we can try Y.") We are now waiting for the PCR results, but so far, I am so happy with our experience and feel confident that Dr. Helen will provide us with the best care possible.

As well as ~most~ techs/assistants being very helpful.....I am not sure what is going on but one of the front desk lady's at check in was rude (just saw she has many complaints on here lol) when I visited yesterday, she gave multiple people attitude for no reason, I understand what its like to work in a busy and stressful environment and the way she handled it was not it that definitely doesn't feel good for anyone that already has things going on with their dog/cat .. aside from that I was helped by a young man that at first seemed good until when he seemed like he knew what my pup had right off the bat and did Not steer away from his opinion. I didn't even really want him in the room anymore because it was very odd that he didn't want to ask any more basic questions or even take a look at the pup until the vet came in, it gave unprofessional. the veterinarian on the other hand was amazing , definitely a full 180. then it came to a nail trim.. I also requested this for the pup bc his nails were definitely out grown and it was time. instead of taking a look at the pups nails he immediately states "his nails are fine. do you see that pink? yeah I cant cut that." ( the nail is far from it, but he seemed new and my pups nails are black so I let it go) I asked if he could clip the ones he could and he brought in another tech and they went as fast as they could... only went ahead to clip the declaws and left. this may have been a rare occurrence but if my pup wasn't seen with basic care from techs and the the vibe wasn't welcoming... well I will not be returning to this location anymore.

SOUTH PARK ANIMAL HOSPITAL is now owned by a VENTURE CAPITAL FIRM called National Veterinary Associates, which in turn is owned by JAB Holding company, JAB has tripled in size since it started buying up vets and charging confiscatory prices, taking advantage of our love of our pets. I gave them two stars because at least they did my cat right and he's fine now. BUT they started burying me in pitch emails too, trying to feed fear about my cat's health, constantly trawling me for more money, more money, more money, all while pretending to care about my cat when they don't. If the people at South Park Animal Hospital really loved animals as much as they love MONEY, they wouldn't have sold out. But they did. I will never go back and suggest you don't start.
