This place is everything you need to make the West End feel accessible. The staff, space and food are all great and provide a welcoming experience and encourage you to stay as long as you'd like, take advantage of their free WiFi and indulge in whatever you'd like with their food and coffee offerings. I enjoyed a breakfast panini with fresh egg, bacon, spinach, tomatoes and Swiss cheese along with a café americano. I stayed and worked remotely in the space for about three hours and the folks working didn't mind at all. I was able to do all of this for under $10 which is a HUGE testament to how accessible this cafe makes exploring the west end, stopping through in travel or if you are local that lives up the hill. read more

Stopped by today when a friend and I were in the west end and looked up nearby breakfast spots. We decided to give it a try based on the other reviews, and really enjoyed our time! They offer a small menu of some breakfast and lunch items, and then a full coffee bar. The staff was very friendly and offered help when we mentioned it was our first time in their shop. I ordered a breakfast panini with egg, bacon and cheddar cheese. This was $6... and was a big sandwich with two eggs! I also got an iced coffee which was $3 and a little on the smaller size - but tasted good! Their space is simple and clean. I was surprised at how busy they were for a Tuesday morning! Ohh my goshh!! Just finished our breakfast at the cafe and it was so GOOOOD. First off, the service is amazing. They greet you with such a nice smile. We wanted some modifications to our dishes and they were more than happy to accommodate our requests. They did not make any face, in fact they gave us options on how we could make our dishes delicious. I had the Ricotta toast but asked them to add avocado. The chef in fact added garlic olive oil and man that took the toast to another level of deliciousness. The touch of balsamic vinegar just brought all the flavors together. They need to add this to their menu ( I have asked them to and I hope they will consider my request. Please name the sandwich Anshita's Special haha). My husband had the bacon egg and sausage toast along with the potatoes. It was yum. The potatoes were just amazing. The coffee was tasty as well. Highly recommend dining at this cafe. We stopped here during our roadtrip out of convenience, the high ratings and that we didn't want to really enter the depths of Pitt. We were very pleasantly surprised. We went on a sunday, and to our pleasure we found that street parking was free. The cafe is a small spot on the corner of the town and has a great and CLEAN atmosphere. We loved it. The coffee options are a plenty and a glass jug of filtered water is right at your disposal. We ordered two breakfast sandwiches which came out in a few minutes right to our table by a member of the staff, who I need to mention are the most friendly people on the planet. They greeted us coming in and thanked us walking out. A business that truly appreciates their clientele. But back to the food - fresh and clean. The rolls are bakery fresh and the sandwiches made to order. If I'm ever exploring Pitt again I'll be sure to make my way out to Cafe 412. Side note: the area itself is pretty neat. Love. This. Place. I was the first to arrive for a girls brunch date. As soon as I entered the owners greeted me in a friendly manner. They were engaging as I browsed the menu but not in an overbearing type of way. I ordered a caramel cappuccino while I waited on my friends. I found a nice table right by the windows. The coffee was delicious. They arrived shortly after and we each ordered food including: avocado toast, ricotta (and jam) toast, and an egg and sausage for my poor friend that can't eat bread. All of our drinks were great and the food came out promptly. The only thing I found odd is that my friend was not able to get a scrambled egg, pre-made patty only. There is a pitcher of water set out for you to utilize and some items available for purchase such as tshirts, mugs, and reusable straws. The prices were also reasonable, 3 food items and 3 beverages for ~$28. The bathrooms were completely blank, however. This place is new so I am excited to see how they decorate them! We laughed and laughed with the owners several times during our stay. Which was quite long as we had a lot of catching up to do. They were so funny and friendly. At one point, we even received a plate of coffee cake of sorts on the house. Wow, that was sooooo good, too. It was moist (sorry), fluffy, and full of flavor. I want to love this, I really do. I see others giving it five stars, so I had to add a review for Yelpers who are serious about their coffee -- who think Starbucks is a sell-out. First, the good to great: Much needed in an area where there are no cafés. Staff is super friendly and will bend over backwards to help you. Very kind and down to earth. Also, coffee is roasted locally. What is frustrating: every time I go in (20+ times? I work nearby and believe in supporting neighborhood businesses) the price is different for the coffee, sandwiches, breakfast. At least five or seven times they have run out of the limited menu items. Often there is literally no food in the pastry case. NONE. sandwiches have been delivered on stale bread; the menu offers a side with the sandwich, and four times they HAD NO SIDES. In addition, staff knows nothing about coffee. I asked for a half decaf latte and the guy wasn't sure he could make it (using a regular espresso machine). I asked if they had any whole bean coffee for sale, and same guy was like "why would anyone want that?" I ordered an Americano and the woman was uncertain how to make it, even though it is on the menu. I ordered toast for $2.50, and another woman gave me one small slice ... I repeat ONE SMALL SLICE that was a next-to-the-end piece. My coworkers also commiserate about same issues -- lack of quality control, run out of food, stale bread, uneven pricing. I hope this changes, and I have spent a good bit of money and time giving it many chances. I keep hoping that it will work out its kinks in time, but I think I am going to avoid until I hear different reviews from coworkers. 10/8 update: Appears they have addressed issues; owner did reply on Yelp and said they are working on glitches. One of my favorites in Pittsburgh. I actually moved out to one of the suburbs but still happily do the long drive to come here. I get the avocado toast with the marinated tomatoes and balsamic. So. Friggen. Delicious. My husband loves the cold brew soda and gets one of their specials for food. There's outdoor seating in the back that's cute in the summer. My wife and I stopped in for breakfast with our 3 & 5 year old sons last Sunday morning. The boys had Belgian waffles with fresh fruit & whipped cream--they each LOVED the waffles, which had a lot of flavor and were perfectly prepared. We are in from Indiana, walked in by chance. Cute little area. We walked in and the atmosphere is very cute and quaint. Employees were so friendly, talked to us and took our suggestions of adding to the menu since they have just recently opened.
