My husband and I went to Cafe Circa with another couple last Friday. We had an absolutely amazing meal! The decor is very nice, we had great service, and we all loved our food. Particularly good were the appetizer mussels -- great sauce that my friend wanted to jar up and sell! The shrimp/sausage skewer appetizer was also excellent. We all loved our entrees... we had the tuna with amazing sweet potato cakes, the oxtail, pork chop, and crawfish etoufee. We hear they have a new executive chef and he seems to have done a great job with the menu. read more

Parking was horrible. Good music but unable to carry a conversation with my husband due the music being extremely loud. We would speak at the end of each song. The service was good, one of the best lemon drop martini I have ever had. Food was okay but "VERY" overpriced. Went here for a birthday celebration. Food was really good. Calamari was a little salty for my taste, but my friend liked it and it was well seasoned which is a plus. The plaintains were awesome! The drinks were pricey though. I paid $9 for a rocks glass of malibu and ginger ale-this drink should have cost at most $6 (Malibu is not top shelf and for a rocks glass-come on!). They have live music starting at midnight and after 10 PM they added automatic gratuity onto your check. I don't really like places that add automatic tip after a certain time. It seems like from other reviews that their happy hour is pretty good so maybe I will check it out at a different time-other than that it was a pretty decent bar/restaurant place. read more

I am a transplant resident from Nashville and I've only been here since May. I was invited out by a fellow teacher for a my first cigar experience on a Saturday evening around about 10 pm. Upon walking in I was immediately taken with the ambiance of the place. Very attractive crowd of people and the general area of the establishment was amidst several other trendy spots like Department Store and Mother Lounge. My friend knew the owner and I am a bit of a review snob so I looked the place up and read some unsettling reviews that I personally shared with the owner who was immensely gracious and accommodating. He's only owned the place for 9 mos so I attribute any kinks experienced to that. I on the other hand have nothing but positive things to say. Strong drinks made by a very quick and nice bartender upstairs, the DJ was EVERYTHING. Played current and older cuts that would be appealing to the entire crowd. If you want seating you'll want to get there earlier than 10 pm or reserve a table in advance. I have had pretty crappy hookah experiences since relocating from Nashville and not only are they ridiculously priced here but they are garbage. As a Muslim woman I have a pretty high expectation of how it should be prepared. The hookah guy timed the coal almost perfectly! He is from Yeomen so he knows what he's doing ;)!!! Would I go back? Absolutely. I loved the rooftop!!! Very sexy. Didn't try the food so I can't speak on the negative reviews on that and my service was on point because I sat at and by the bar the entire night. If you are thinking of visiting Café Circa for their dinner and a movie on Wednesday nights, DO NOT! My husband and I went last night with printed tickets in hand only to be told they were not going to honor it. The leather seats were tattered, the tables wobbly and the waitress took forever to come to us although besides us there were about 6 other people and 4other waiters. The manager was rude and clearly knew nothing about customer service.The oxtail was disgusting but the only thing that was good was the drinks which were $10 each. Yeah! They will never ever be seeing us again and if they keep this up they will be closed soon. read more

I went there on a Friday and it was a horrible night. It took 15 minutes for someone to come over and take our order. The manager was RUDE and kept giving excuses on why his staff was horrible. He was not good on customer service and was informed that the food was NASTY. I will not go back there again and will let all my friends know not to go there as well. read more

Worst service I have ever encountered, and that includes Arby's. Party of 12, and only 7 entrees came out at once. They forgot to put in the other orders, and when they did, they still only brought out 3 of the remaining 5. Food was average at best, maybe just below. The rice is hard enough to chip your teeth though. Steer clear of that. Appetizers are good, but that's about it. Service will have to drastically improve, or this place doesn't stand a chance. read more

POOR MGMT, DON'T GO - I have been here multiple times and multiple times they have run out of basic entrees. Went there for brunch and not only were they out of a main selection again but when i got my entree that I ordered with bacon, they had sausage on it instead because they ran out of bacon. Running out of a brunch staple like bacon, especially when the restaurant wasn't even busy, is unacceptable. I'm done trying to give this restaurant a chance. read more

I went to Café Circa because my sister wanted to celebrate her birthday there. The waitress was very nice but the service for getting food was terrible it took over an hour to get food and there were others from our party there before me. One of the ladies there ordered a steak that was pink on the inside and the mash potatoes were cold, the other lady had a salmon that was not done all the way and the spinach was an overkill with minced garlic. I do understand the idea of Tapas but I ordered salmon cakes and was not expecting just one cake with two slices of apples on top for 9 bucks. Please revaluate your establishment. This was a Horrible dining experience. We waited over 2 hours for a meal, got deserts first, (which were taken back to the kitchen), and appetizers at the end. Who knows who ended up with these deserts that had already sat at our table for a while! One of our guests got a meal that he didn't order because they ran out of something so they just brought out ""what they had" since it had been 2 hours! After all of that, we were expected to pay for all of this, including appetizer and deserts not eaten. The manager, Martin Boyer, came by to demand that we pay full bill (Which he Slightly discounted.) He NEVER apologized for the long wait, order coming out piece by piece (every 30 minutes) or us never receiving our full meals. I Would NOT advise anyone to patronize Cafe Circa! I was embarrassed that we brought guests here. Manager Martin was Totally Unprofessional. The Owner of Cafe Circa needs to Take Note! NEVER AGAIN!! read more

ROACHES ROACHES ROACHES.......... I recently brought a Groupon for Cafe Circa and decided to go there with a few of my friends. The first thing I noticed was the massive amount of gnats that few off the holder of the lemons, limes, and cherries as the bartender lifted the lid. The next thing that disgusted me was bathroom smelled like pee and there was a dirty tampon on the sink. I notified the manager who's name was Tiffani and before I left I went to the bathroom again the tampon was still there. Also there was a pungent smell in the air we noticed it was coming from the table cloth, it smelled like mildew. We asked to be moved which was so inconvenient. We were moved to the stage area in the back near the kitchen and that's were we come to the ROACHES ROACHES ROACHES. We and my friends watched three ROACHES crawl from the kitchen and over a women sandal, thats when we left. Thank god we got our Groupon credit back. read more

Literally the WORST experience of my life! Out of towners BEWARE! THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU! I ordered food and had to wait 3 hours for it to come, (after asking another server to let mine know I would like to speak with her. ) She forgot to put my food in TWICE! Once finished I collected my bill, and inquired about the gratuity. Since I had only seen her about 3 times throughout the night, and, she actually seemed to be avoiding my table. When I found out the gratuity was automatic I requested to speak to a manager about my experience. She came over and apologized and only offered me a drink or shot as reconciliation, which I declined. About 5 minutes later my server returned and stated quite rudely she was waiting on us to pay our bill. I told her okay, give me a minute, and that when she came back around I'd have my card for her. She then rudely said she needed me to pay right then. Unbeknownst to her, my card and ID was at the bar because I had started a tab earlier in the night. The security then came over and said the same manager I just spoke to had sent her over to make she collected our payment. When I again tried to tell her my card would be ready when she came back around, she then told security to make sure we didn't leave without paying the $23 tab, because "she'd be damned if she didn't get her money." I was off course extremely upset and an argument ensued. I paid both my bar tab, food bill, and left. There again, was no offer of compensation other than a drink or shot. Went for an evening with a friend just to hang out. The first thing I noticed was that the resaurant was scarcely populated and no one was eating! Hmmmm, I thought, well maybe they are just ordering drinks. Then a table received their food, well except one person who sat and watched everyone else for a good ten minutes before her food came out. My friend and I ordered and 30 minutes later the waitress came back to let me know that they didn't have what I ordered, and that took 30 minutes! Maybe they were looking for it?!?! So after some arm twisting, they substituted my meat with another meat. When it came out, It was undercooked! And it had sides that I didn't order. So the waitress took the order and apologized that I a had received someone else's order and she whisked it away to the back! PS. I am tired of spending my money for horrible service. The manager wanted to discuss why we wanted to pay only for our drinks???? Oh, and the lamb chops were very bland. If they want to survive as a restaurant, they have to do much better than this. I'm super disappointed with my experience. I've been to cafe circa a number of times. The first two, the service was decent and the food was hot. This time... Wow. Such an embarassment. Not only does their patio look horrible now, but the service was terrible. You would have thought it was out server's first day on the job. Jasmine walked around like the last thing she was concerned about was her customers. I got wings and rice and peas. The peas weren't cooked and the wings were cold. My friends, who got shrimp and grits, a $20 plate, had three small shrimp and a slew of gravy and bland ass grits. One asked for her plate without sausage, and you guess it! It had sausage. Don't waste your time or money. The manager was a joke and just as rude and careless as his staff. He did nothing to resolve the situation. I don't even think he was listening when I was speaking. It's sad when black owned business just can't get their stuff together. Take your money and business elsewhere. Plus the parking situation is a drag. read more

'Tis a shame. Have had some delicious food here. A perfect lamb shank with a rich sauce. More recently, some nice scallops. But here are some facts. On two occasions, within weeks of each other, this restaurant charged a dollar more for both food and beverages than the prices on the menu. We noticed it once, and my wife went back to inquire. The manager or owner or whoever it was gave the money back to her with what appeard to be disdain, as if to say, "It's my place, it's my prerogative to overcharge by a buck or two, and only a cheapskate would bother to complain..." Then we examined a prior check, and found another overcharge from a prior occasion. If it is accidental, then it is sloppy data entry into the computer---funny how they always err in favor of the house. If it isn't accidental, then its just shabby. Keep your dollar--it must mean a lot to you, if sell your honesty for it. read more

Cafe Circa has to be one of the WORST places to eat in Atlanta. The manager was very rude and disrespectful. The place is very small and not accommodating for larger groups. We had a party of 25 and was told that we were only allowed a certain number of tables and that we would just have to squeeze in and make do although we were not informed of this when we made the reservations. The waitresses were very unexperienced. A tray full of glasses that contained Coke was spilled by the waiter on one of our guest and landed on her freshly pressed hair, brand new dress, and into her purse and on her camera. The manager was unconcerned and stated that he would have to speak with the owner about what could be done about her property, although his waiter was the total cause. Also, the manager told us that we reserved for Saturday when we know for sure what was discussed when we called. The rude manager jumped into our conversation that we were having amongst ourselves and rudely asked well what do you suggest we do. We had to continuously ask for water and had to literally beg for our checks after our bland, no seasoned food arrived. One of our guest that ordered first had to wait an extra hour to receive her food and was forced to watch everyone else eat. This place is beyond ridiculous and I would not recommend it to my worst enemy. This people really need to step their game up for the prices that they are asking. Can someone recommend them buy seasoning for the food and hire PROFESSIONAL and trained staff. Yuck, such a disgust! read more

Where should I begin?! I was part of a birthday party of about 20 people. The wait staff was young and untrained on how to wait tables in the first place. I tried to order the pork chop, but was told they were out. I ordered the lamb burger that came with cheese, according to the menu. Burger came, no cheese and fries were burned. Returned food and waited about 20 mins for new plate, but was told by waitress that the fries keep coming out burned. I replaced with asparagus. Food finally came out after a total of 30 minutes from the first plate. To my surprise, the food was actually good. People in our party never received their food, but they were given tickets to pay. Some guest ordered fish, but the fish was not thawed out. They were not told until the waitress brought their ticket to pay. Manager asked us how much longer we would be because she has another party that she needs to seat. We could not believe the way we were being treated, especially by the manager on duty. No one apologized for the fact that some people did not receive their food or that the food took so long. Instead we were rushed out the door. Never, never will I return there again, even if they change the name to "A Much Better Cafe Circa". Hope you read this and pay attention. Spend your money where you will be appreciated and treated as such. read more

This place is terrible!! The management staff was better a few years ago. When we arrived, we went upstairs to the rooftop to order drinks from the bar. The female bartender approached us with an attitude while we were trying to decide what we wanted to drink. She threw her hands at us and walked off. We were only at the bar for 20 seconds. It was so rude and if I was a manager, I would have terminated her. She does not deserve to be working in a job that provide service to people. We reported it and decided to leave. While standing outside, the guy who we reported it to, came and apologized and invited us back in and offered us a free drink. It was only ONE server that was covering the entire bottom floor which is terrible. We ordered food and when he brought it out, my wife asked for a glass of water and some silverware. He passed the table 5 times and after reminding him 3 times about the silverware and water, he finally comes back 45 minutes later and said we DON'T have silverware. The food was cold by that time and we returned it and he walked off with an attitude. We reported it to the same guy who came and apologized and he looked as if we were bothering him. This was by far the worst experience I've ever encountered when going out. I will never go back to this place and will never recommend this place to anyone. This place is ghetto and I can see this place closing soon. Nasty bathrooms, bad management and terrible customer service. read more
