Doesn't look like much when you walk past, but I was practically dying of hunger, so I popped in. The definition of a hole-in the wall in the dictionary has a picture of this place. I got the regular hamburger, and WOW! There are no words. A classic burger done right. Crisp bun, juicy patty, stuffed with all the essentials (Ketchup, shredded lettuce, tomato, and pickles). There are a million options available between the menu board and a wall full of specials. So, it can get a little overwhelming, but you really can't go wrong. Terrible, terrible, terrible. The staff are reasonably accommodating for French waitstaff, which is to say that when I sent back a burger that was over cooked into a dry, inedible hockey puck, the waiter was only mildly condescending and rude about the request. The burger came back on the rare side of the medium rare I asked for, but it took a long, long time. In fact the service in general is pretty pokey, though again, this is not unusual for a French brasserie. The thing that can't be excused though is the generally poor quality of the food. The spaghetti bolognese was over cooked and limp--embarrassing even for Chef Boyardee. It's hard to believe that just a few hundred miles south of here the Italians can make pasta that's about a billion times better. The salade Nicoise was mildly better, but you'll pay a premium for the soaring heights of mediocrity that the chef serves here--this cafe is not cheap. The telltale sign is that this is all optimized for tourists. On the night we were there, not a single local could be spotted. That's as much an indictment of how Americans think French food should be prepared as it is of this establishment. But if it's Americanism you want, you'd actually be better off (and less poor) if you go to McDonald's which, conveniently, is located literally next door. read more

Wandered in on the evening of our arrival in Paris. It was dreary, drizzly and a little cooler. We were able to sit outside though with all the space heaters they had. It was even so warm that we shed a few layers. We stuck with the specials they had - sea bass with veggie and cheese side dish and the wok noodles with veal. Both dishes were good but nothing to wow us in to returning. Also had the crême brûlée which was good. The daily special menu had strawberry tiramisu which we wanted to try but it wasn't available even as early as it was-and they weren't really busy. read more

So came her for lunch with a friend after doing some touristy activities. We got 2 entrees and 2 piña colada's. The pasta was great and the sauce on the dishes were great. The veal was cooked nicely and the chicken was just a pinch dry.. could've been more juicy. STILL a great dish. I preferred the chicken over the veal. The chicken dish was the dish everyone recommends in the comments. And surprisingly the plat du jour, veal entre was actually the same dish just with a veal spin. Same sauce, same noodle and same garnish. Overall the food was good. Honestly I would give 3.5 stars but that's not an option. Only because I feel the meal could've been more juicy. Very pleased!! After a delayed flight, we got into Paris later than expected and were looking for late night eats. We found a spot a couple blocks from the hotel still open at 11. As soon as we got closer, heard the music, and smelled the food, we knew we stumbled into another gem. We were afraid that it would be "tourist" prices and tourist quality food (aka not so good), but it turned out be quite different. The service was great and the food was really good. Customer service was horrible. If I could I would put zero stars. We were here for an hour just waiting for our food only to get our steak cold. When we told the waiter it took another 30 minutes to receive it. To add on, the lettuce and avocado in the cesar salad was already going bad. The waiter barely attended us and forgot we were there half the time. However the only silver lining from this horrible experience was the pizza. The bread was delicious but other than that I would never recommend this place to anyone to who have better things to do then wait ages for mediocre food. On a recent layover in Paris, we ventured into the city to see the sights and find some French food. After walking a bit of the Seine and visiting Notre Dame cathedral, I checked yelp for crepery and found Cafe de Paris was nearby and had good reviews. It was still relatively early, so not many restaurants were open, we checked with the waiter and he stated they only had sweet crepes at that time (we were looking for 1 savory, 1 sweet to share), he was nice enough to recommend some other good locations if we insisted on savory crepes, but that they had some other excellent options. We opted to stay and ordered some coffee drinks, a croque madam and choclate banana crepes. Both were quite excellent, the corque madam was a random order, but was very very good. The sandwhich was crispy and delicious, the side of fries was also tasty. We did not know about this specialty, but it was essentially a fancy ham and grilled chees, in a good way! The crepes were also very good, to be excepted from most creperies in Paris. The waiter was friendly and got the food and check out quickly as we were on a tight timeframe, even though the norm is not a rushed meal, he understood. read more

Ok, 4.5 stars is a *little* high for this mostly tourist place, people. But ok, it does have super friendly waiters (one took time to show us a pic of his arm in a cast, when he saw my mother had one). And the heat lamps work well. And the drinks, while pricey, aren't out of line for the area. And the pizza was good quality with a really nice crust. And they have Picon beer, which you should *go drink now*. We ordered somewhat blindly from the daily menu board: pork filet lignin in a mustard cream sauce with fettuccini - excellent; salmon tartare with veggie noodles - very good; and roast chicken with French fries- July dad says the best chicken he ever had. Came here for lunch after spending hours in the louvre museum. Thanks to yelp I was able to find a good Parisian restaurant near by. I ordered Prosecco to drink which was chilled to a good temperature. My boyfriend ordered a nice cold beer which he enjoyed. To eat I ordered the onion soup, it was delish. I was looking forward to trying the onion soup since I was in France. It was very hot lots of cheese and inside where pieces of French bread. My boyfriend and his cousin ordered pizza which they enjoyed very much. The waitress was very kind. She spoke English which made a difference for us when ordering since we don't speak French so thank you for that :) also the menus were in English which I cannot tell you how grateful we are for that. It's very difficult for someone to go to another country and not be able to speak or read their language (next time we will do our homework) so thank you to the business owner for taking us tourists into consideration :) read more

We made the mistake of eating here because we were at the Louvre, hungry, and it was nearby. Please learn from our lesson. The Carbonara was bland and the pizza was cold - both options we ordered because we figured they were foolproof. We were wrong. However, ABOVE ALL ELSE, please do not order the beef or any steaks here. The one we ordered was tough, unchewably tough, overcooked, and tasted gamey. With those factors combined we are relatively certain that we were served horse instead of beef. Three hungry 22 year old boys were unable to finish it. Hopefully that speaks volumes. While at the Louvre, we asked one of the employees for any good places to eat nearby and he recommended this place. I am so happy we went. We sat outside to enjoy the great weather and the nice sights. We felt so welcomed the moment we got here. Our server was Damian. He was so friendly and funny. He made our evening so much better. My dad and I both ordered the sirloin steak with a mushroom sauce and mashed potatoes. The steak was really juicy and tender, and the mushroom sauce was delicious! We liked the food and the service so much that we ended up eating here 3 days in a row for dinner. The second night we tried the French onion soup, the supreme which was chicken with mushroom sauce and fresh pasta, and for dessert we got a chocolate and banana crepe. The third day we got the same chicken dish again. We left and it started pouring rain while we were walking so we actually walked back to sit at the café while the rain subsided. We ordered some hot chocolates. It was so nice sitting outside, drinking hot chocolates while watching the rain and lighting, and listening to the thunder. This was almost a 5 star but I'm scaling back due to my situation. When first arriving in Paris I was staying at a hotel that seem to only have Arabic Cuisine restaurants nearby so after visiting the Louvre I found several busy restaurants from which to choose. Frustrated at having to eat some delicious Lebanese cuisine on my first night in Paris I was really anxious to get some authentic French cuisine. I was not very hopeful about this restaurant as the name Cafe Paris seemed cliche, it was in a commercial area near the Louvre, and it was very busy however I was served some of the best quiche, bouillabaisse, salade niçoise, pita bread, and wine. I'm no French connoisseur but I was certainly well satisfied that I had exceptionally good food at Cafe de Paris. read more
