Dropped by Cafe Etoile in Berkeley recently and it was so good. You can see the huge portions in the pic I took. The food is amazing . the fried chicken and waffles were super crispy and savory, and we also got a sweet waffle loaded with fresh berries and chocolate that totally hit the spot. The ambiance is really chill and rustic with nice wooden tables, making it a super cozy place to just hang out and eat. The service was also really fast and friendly, and they made sure we had everything we needed. Definitely coming back!

This is one of my favorite cafes ever - will definitely be back!! The staff are SO lovely and accommodating. The matcha cloud was delicious and so was the food! Came a couple times with a friend to check it out and see if we could host a larger group event. It was fantastic every time and the event went super well. Great ambiance, easy street parking, and incredible food/drink/staff. Thanks so much!!!

This is overall a decent cafe with good food. I would recommend any of their signature meals: the croffle, salmon avocado toast, and Korean-inspired food is all delicious and interesting. The drinks aren't anything special, especially for the price. The interior is a bit dim but welcoming and often has space on weekdays. You could sit here for a few hours with a laptop, but the data and WiFi here are both bad. If I was ever working on an offline project or sitting with friends, this would be a good place to go. They also run big sport events (e.g. March Madness) on the TV.

Came here on a weekday around noon. The staff were super friendly and provided great service! Ordering was quick, took about 5 minutes, but the food did take a bit longer, around 20-30 minutes, which was understandable as it was a little busy inside. There's both indoor and outdoor seating. The interior has a warm, inviting atmosphere with plenty of windows, making it perfect for a coffee chat or study session. Based on rush, you may not get a buzzer, so watch out for your order at the pickup window! I got the Chicken Croffle, and wow, the chicken was incredibly juicy and flavorful! It was so tender, literally shredding so easily with just a stab of my fork. The savory chicken paired perfectly with the slightly sweeter croffle underneath. The croffle itself had that perfect crunch from all the layers of a croissant but with the softness of an actual waffle. One thing I did notice is that the croffle was a bit challenging to cut with the knife provided, but it was still totally worth the effort! Overall, the food was great! I love that they have other Korean-inspired dishes. I definitely want to come back and try those!

We came here on a Saturday as soon as they opened. The place is right on the corner so there's plenty of street parking. The place is nice and open. There's a ton of seating. The menu is on the wall on clip boards. I ordered a turkey sandwich and my husband ordered chicken and waffles. They bring the food to you so you sit anywhere you want . There's free water but they do sell a good amount of drinks. The food is made to order so be patient. They use good fresh ingredients and portions are generous. The food is delicious and service is great. We had a great experience and will definitely will return.

Warm, cozy brunch vibes! You order at the register, seat yourself, and come up to get your food once your pager buzzes. They have water and condiments at the front, just take what you need. I ordered the Salmon Eggs Benedict with roasted potatos ($19) and it was so yummy! I think the price is fair for the quality and portion. The potatoes were a little undercooked in my opinion and could've used more seasoning, but they do have salt and pepper at the front, so it wasn't a deal breaker. Eggs Benedict itself was delicious, the eggs were cooked perfectly. We came at 11am on a rainy Saturday and were able to find free 2-hr parking a block down. The ambiance was so lovely and cozy - soft holiday instrumental music, cute Halloween decor, surrounded by friends catching up or studying together. Would come again to try one of their drinks!

I visited for weekend brunch and, while it was busy, it was also cozy. I was lucky enough to grab a high top table by the window. The ordering process was easy; simply order from the menu and find a table. I went for the chicken croffle with two eggs on the side. The food arrived promptly with generous portions, honestly enough to share with another person. The best part was how everything looked just as delicious as it tasted. The coffee was great too, rich, bold and packed with flavor. I took off one star because the employee at the register wasn't very welcoming, but thankfully it didn't impact the quality of the food.

Everything I've ever purchased has been delicious and the staff is very nice. It's a cute place with plenty of sitting for for yourself, a pair or a large group. I highly recommend the Chicken Croffle Benedict.

Quint Cafe is in the heart of Berkeley, and I really appreciate its relaxed atmosphere. I tried their cheese corffle, which was crunchy, sweet, and savory--a great combo. The Crunchy Spicy Chicken Sandwich had a good-sized piece of chicken; it was filling. I did wish it had a bit more seasoning on the chicken and more flavorful coleslaw. The Croque Madame with a fried egg was quite enjoyable. The salad on the side added a nice touch and complemented the dish well. Good place for hangout!

Decided to try this place for breakfast. Had hard time finding parking, you order your food and find a seat. The cashier was not helpful at all, told her it's our first time here what to recommend, handed us a paper menu and asked us to step a side to look over the menu and took the next person in line. Had to get back in line to order. Not the cleanest place I've been to. The floors are not so clean and some of the tables are not cleaned. The place is overwhelming with signs of everything they serve on the menu... The egg Benedict was ok... tried their bacon and egg croffle it's a croissant smashed into a waffle didn't care for it at all because though it would be crispy, not at all it was just sticky and stretchy like a smashed croissant...

Doordashed. Everything was good! Better than expected. I wish they had breakfast sausage--that would be so great! The breakfast sandwich was good, but if they had a sausage option--oooweeee! The basil pesto croffle was really tasty. Tastes just like a pizza, kinda. Friend got the avocado toast--i didn't get to taste if, but she really enjoyed it.

This may be the perfect cafe: big windows, a jumble of bistro tables and two big communal tables for getting your work done. Add to that some sweet, cool jazz and luxurious drinks menu. But mainly: THE FOOD! The chef is a true artist who composes each plate as a painting, with perfectly balanced ingredients and satisfying takes on Benedict's, chicken waffles, and croque monsieurs.

    Gena M.

The food is good. Lots of flavor. The avocado toast, I added a poached egg, was very good. I loved the little extras on it. Cucumbers, tomatoes, and picked red onion. The fried chicken and waffles was the best, tender juicy chicken, and nice a crisp on the outside soft on the inside flavorful waffle, with eggs Benedict to top it off. The crossiant French toast was yummy. My friends got it with the waffle and that was better than the crossiant in my opinion. The coffee cake is the only thing I had that I would not recommend. It was dry and a weird consistency, it just crumbled up. The lattes were very good, the tiramisu latte taste just like tiramisu. The service was a little slow to get our order. The inside is small and they do have people who are just hanging out and visiting, they had finished their food and drink. So it took us a bit to wait for a seat. Perhaps having a sign of etiquette if you are done and others are waiting to be mindful.

Menus change daily for the downstairs restaurant and are posted in advance on the website, so that you can adjust your reservations once the menus are posted if you have any objections. Definitely make reservations a month out as soon as they're available for downstairs, but they can switch you to the upstairs café if you don't like what's being served in the downstairs restaurant that day. We took advantage of this option because one of our party does not eat fish or lamb. The café upstairs is more casual and items can be ordered à la carte from the seasonal menu. I enjoyed my Sonoma duck breast and carrot soup, but the winner was the cardamom mousse. I highly recommend any dish that features fresh produce, especially the bowl of fresh fruit for dessert.

When friends or classmates would tell me they dined here, I was like, " Wow, so boujee. Fast forward to today, and I had the opportunity to go for my Mom's birthday! My family made reservations, which are hard to come by. They need to be made well in advance. We arrived before our 8:30pm reservation and, unfortunately, weren't seated until after 9:00pm. Once inside the dining area, it was lively and loud, intimate, and somewhat more formal compared to their upstairs cafe. Service from all staff was kind; the host occasionally stopped by; our food was delivered, and we were checked on throughout. It was also lovely to peek inside the open-air kitchen. If you dine in their dining area, it's prix-fixe. On my Mom's birthday, they had a salad, pasta, steak, and ice cream. The salad was good--I don't eat mushrooms, but found it tasty and a bit over-dressed. My favorite was the pasta, a little spice. Warm from the noodles but cold from the cheese--the shrimp was nicely cooked. For our entrée, we had a rib-eye. I don't eat steak, but for this occasion I did--it was good, but because I rarely eat beef, I couldn't compare it to other rib-eyes I'd had. The vegetables were good and quite fresh. I gave the ice cream to my family since I don't have dairy, but the fruit was great! Overall I enjoyed more dishes than others. The bread and drinks were also good. I'd be curious to come back for a different prix-fixe. Chez Panisse is a must visit once restaurant in my opinion--whether you're local to the area or live in the Bay Area. Alice Waters is famous and has won a multitude of awards for a reason. I'm happy to have finally dined here and celebrated my Mom's birthday. The restaurant is off Shattuck Ave. with street parking around.

The shop is always very clean and has the whole French vibe going on with the decorations, etc. Café Parisian is run by a pair of twins from Paris: HOCINE and AHCE. "Les rois de la boulangerie" I believe they share duties at their other shoppe in Paris and rotate locations from time to time. Even if you're not hungry, it's worth a trip to stop in to say bonjour and of course grab a box of pastries to go! It is indeed a joy to speak with them and today Hocine was attending the front counter. He genuinely is a very friendly man with a quick wit and a humorous personality. The service is second to none and a rarity in many places these days. Like a Traiteur HOCINE is catering to your every need and explaining anything that you need to know. If you ask what ingredients are in something he will lay it all out in a succinct manner. I was just taking a peek to see what was new because I haven't been in there for a minute and I just had a lousy empanada (from a tree that bears fruit) down the street that was close to being inedible! I was thinking about having a burrito up the road a bit until we started chatting and I just couldn't leave without having lunch. I opted for this "round sandwich" or savory pastry stuffed with many vegetables including mushrooms, brussel sprouts, and more. A large portion and truly magnificent. It was cut into to four pieces, served with some nice hot sauce packets and could've been shared. My lunch partner had a similar sandwich, but his was with chicken. His assessment? "SUBLIME". Well, Mr. HOCINE lives up to the origin of his name, which can translate to pride and identity. Also, somewhere not really lost in translation is also "good" and "handsome", but I wouldn't say that because it might go to his head! ------------------------------ Merci pour ce délicieux repas, votre excellent service, vos connaissances, la présentation soignée et votre personnalité remarquable.

As a huge fan of French cuisine, I'd been following RÊVE for years and decided to book a table for the graduation dinner. I made a reservation about three months in advance just to be safe, since the restaurant only has about eight indoor tables. The restaurant was tucked away in a nondescript strip mall, but upon entering through the side gate, I felt like I was stepping into a Parisian neighborhood bistro. Our friendly waitress walked us through the menu and seasonal specials and even pointed out the can't-miss dishes. Thank goodness we followed her advice - the frites were among the best I've ever tasted! We debated ordering another cone of frites but decided to pace ourselves because we also ordered the gougères, RÊVE salad, and escargot to share. Additionally, we received complimentary fresh baguette and butter. For my main dish, I decided to try the quenelle, which can be described as a soft dumpling made from seafood purée that resembles a velvety soufflé. Every bite had a rich seafood flavor that, even now, I can't stop thinking about. Even though we were quite full after dinner, we were tempted by the dessert menu and decided to split the chocolate mousse and French opera cake. Both desserts were exquisite - they were small portions but packed a lot of richness without being overly sweet. Our dinner was made extra special by the restaurant staff, who remembered that we were celebrating a graduation and signed a card for us. From the team going above and beyond to the excellent meal, this was one of the best meals I've had this year. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

Chastain did so by assembling an amazing team that guaranteed authentic cuisine that could be found not in just one but throughout many regions in Italy, much in part thanks to Chef de cuisine Massimo Orlando, who brings his heritage from northern Italy into all of their dishes. What brought me and two other diners here on a busy Saturday evening was the buzz that has been constant ever since they opened Via Del Corso in the summer of 2021 and we wanted to see what it was all about. Reservations on the OpenTable even a mere two days out were actually easy to make, as we arrived a few minutes late and they were still gracious enough to take our party and seat us with a view of their open kitchen, where no fewer than five chefs were cooking up a storm all evening long. The dinner menu at Via Del Corso is separated into categories including Spuntini, which are little bites; Antipasti e Insalate, which are their Appetizers and Salads; Primi Piatti or first course dishes; Piatto del Giorno or Dish of the Day; Secondi Piatti or second course dishes; Contorni or sides; and Dolchi or desserts. To start our meal we decided to order their Insalata di Polpo, which was their poached octopus served with Yukon gold potatoes, Gaeta olives, celery, sweet onions, and topped with lemon and extra virgin olive oil. Served with the perfect amount of umami and flair this starting dish was the perfect starting dish and made us eager for more of what Via Del Corso had to offer. As for the second course in our meal, we knew we wanted to share in their deliciously handcrafted pasta entrées, and it was recommended by our server Mike to order their signature pasta entrée, their Ravioli con Spungnole e Fave, which were their fresh pasta raviolis filled with sheep's milk ricotta, served with fresh morel mushrooms, fava beans and topped with Parmigiano cheese; and then we ordered a half portion of their Tagliatelle al Ragu which is their fresh egg pasta topped with Emilian meat sauce and Parmigiano Reggiano. For our main courses, we decided to split two entrées, their Petto d'Anatra con Ciliegie e Balsamico, which was their seared duck breast topped with their balsamico condimento, blistered cherries, and sautéed spinach; and their Bistecca di Manzo alla Griglia which is their Grilled Prime New York Steak served with rucola, lemon, and shaved Parmigiano. We also opted to have it served with Lardo which was a film of buttery garlic and cost an additional four dollars. The pastas would be presented to our table first and they were two of the most lovingly crafted pasta dishes we have enjoyed in some time. The real star recommended their ravioli as the were a meal unto itself with beautiful triangle shaped pouches filled with fresh cheese topped with unique mushrooms combined with an unbelievably tasty sauce. At 60 dollars our Bistecca was a wonderfully composed dish that was served with an elegantly composed arugula side dish and would have been a wonderful solo entrée to enjoy. The seared duck was a nice heavy dish that I most likely would not order a second time, as we saw the halibut being a nicely composed dish from a table far away, and nothing but good things about their signature pork chop. With a total bill of $194 for five dishes, a return visit would be a must to Via Del Corso, as we found this restaurant lively, in a good way, the service attentive, and most importantly the food prepared in a way that would make us come back for many more return visits. A neighborhood gem that everyone can enjoy!

Delicious food. I started with an olive oil infused martini. Perfection. I had the tuna carpaccio…read moreand then the pork chop. Both were great but the pork chop was the best I've ever had, ever. Perfectly cooked, moist and seasoned so well. Their service is knowledgeable yet not over bearing. I've been twice. There's one husky guy who's been quite bristly both times. Maybe he needs a fernet. I don't know. Hope to go back in the future.
