The food was delicious! Our waiter was very nice. Even though we had a language barrier, he tried his best accommodate and understand us. The food does take a while to arrive so be ready to wait a while. We went for dinner and the billiard side was bustling and filled with groups of people. The appetizer, we ordered was good, we ordered the baked goat cheese AU- gratin with honey it. Every component of the plate played a huge influence in the taste of the dish. For our entree, we ordered the chateaubriand for two. It came with three delicious sauces and roasted fresh vegetable and potatoes that were delicious! The potatoes could use seasoning but when eaten with the sauces and a touch of salt it really brings it together. For dessert, the apple strudel! which was so warm and hit the spot! There was a sign inviting customers to seat themselves but there was also a queue to be seated. They may offer you a seat in the smoking section so if you don't want to be seated right next to someone that may be smoking like a chimney, then you should decline and wait for the non-smoking section. Pro Tip: In a small plaza just 2 minutes walk from Café Louvre is a gigantic metallic, kinetic sculpture of Franz Kafka's head by Czech artist David Cerny. Not to be missed! I would say food is a 3.5 but rounding up for the environment, portion size, and crazy reasonable prices. We were resistant to going here because we were heading to Vienna the next day, and thought it seems silly to go to a Viennese style restaurant when you're going to Vienna. But we were hungry at an odd time between lunch and dinner, and we were nearby, and they were open, so we went for it. There are several levels and different rooms open at different times. When we went midafternoon, what I think is the main cafe/bistro was open, in a big open room with lovely details. We sat next to the open window, enjoying the sunshine and view over the street. Some people wrote down their orders (I observed), but the waiter seemed happy to take our order verbally. Spaetzle with meaty bits was recommended by my companion, and it was an enormous portion. I had a veggie quiche and some side salads, which was decent but not mind blowing. I think starches are probably their strong suit and would order something brown next time! This place is 100% a tourist destination. While it is cheaper, I think going outside the main tourist areas is well worth it. I ordered the chicken breast with a creamy pepper sauce and spatzle. It came out drenched in an orange sauce that tasted like Campbell's tomato soup. The chicken was very tender and tasted good enough, but the sauce was too much and nothing like I expected. The goulash was ordered by my partner, and he was also very disappointed by his meal. It tasted bland and unoriginal. Long story short, please do not eat here if you are wanting actual Czech food. Cool cafe with lots of old world charm. The menu is big and has a bit for everyone. The prices are very reasonable. We went for brunch and I was very hungry. I had the vegetarian quiche...which came with two huge slices of different veggie quiche (one spinach, one onion). They were both good, I especially loved the spinach one. This cafe is pretty famous, I think. If you go at a popular time be prepared to wait a bit. Oh, they also have an aquarium with live turtles in it. I enjoyed this place. It's big, there's an outdoor and indoor section. It has a real elegant European feel to it, and it's very comfy to dine in. The prices are pretty good and options are vast. We came here to lunch off a recommendation from a friend living in Prague. This cafe was founded in 1902 and has been visited by many historic people including Albert Einstein. The cafe is very large and offers many tables for smokers. We ordered the the Club Sandwich which came with Turkey, Bacon, Egg and Mayo. The Club Sandwich is under the Best Sellers section of the menu, the egg was a nice touch to the sandwhich. We also ordered the Roast Beef on Cream and Veal Schnitzel with potato salad. The Creme with the Roast beef was delicious and flavorful. The veal was somewhat bland but the potatoe salad was not really to my liking but my friend enjoyed it. For desert we ordered the large chocolate cake and latte macchiato. The cake was very rich and was large enough to share between 3 people. Overall this restaurant offered great service and delivered our food quickly after ordering which was surprising seeing how packed this Cafe gets. I believe that Louvre is overrated for its historical value (Kafka, Einstein and other famous people used to go there), and its great central location and beautiful interior, which is the reason for the 3 starts. The food on the other side was very basic and nothing outstanding in terms of taste or similar. Every time I visit, the waiters are always in a strange mood. They are not rude but they are never polite either. They are always in a rush. The prices are OK. I go here whenever I am close by and hungry, or when visitors ask me to take them there. We came here for breakfast, without reservations, and the only available tables were in the Smoking Section. C'est la vie. While I have always loved this place and make it one of my must take visitors here eateries, this last time really solidified Cafe Louvre's place in my heart. Normally, I have sat inside, where the service depending on who is working can be a bit Czech. However this time, seated out in the patio, the servers seemed to almost encourage our ridiculousness and giggle fest! The food, which is always amazing, was made 1000000000x better by the addition of the asparagus menu, which came promptly and was delightfully filling but not overly so. Breaking my rule of only ordering mojitos in tropical climates, I was thrilled with mine and when we had to remind the lovely server about my second one the amount of the rum was more than enough to make up for it. read more

This place really surprised me. I have passed it many times taking the tram and did not even realize it was this cafe. When I entered it honestly feels like a large french brasserie with large arcs inside, a pink and white decor and other decorations from the early 1900's, perfectly fitting though. Our server was friendly,spoke czech and a bit of english. She brought our drinks right away, service was great here the entire time. I had a cafe late which was okay, but no brown sugar. For a place like this??? Come on brown sugar for coffee should be a staple here. The highlight of our trip here was the Waffle with cream and strawberries that I ordered. It was a huge waffle on my plate, baked to perfection, with a huge pile of cream and fruit on the opposite side of my plate. This ended up being very smart because the waffle never got soggy and I had just enough berries and cream for the whole thing. The waffle was crispy and it really was a perfect portion. Overall my experience here was great. Service was nice, food was excellent and atmosphere was also excellent. Tasty and quick! I had this place in mind when I was planning my trip to Prague and was hesitant about the hype. However, after eating here... the hype is real. We did not have a reservation so we went to the quick service side of the cafe. Luckily there was someone leaving so we got a table to for two right by the window. My husband had the quiche - which he loved. I enjoyed the beef steak with fries. The waitress did not ask me how I wanted it cooked and I forgot to say something in the all the excitement in getting a table quickly. Nonetheless my steak was cooked medium-well - exactly how I like it. The mushroom cream sauce accompanying the steak was delicious as well and did not over power the steak. We needed our meals with dessert; I had the trio and my husband had a slice of tiramisu. The restaurant has some history with famous people having eaten there, Albert Einstein and Frank Kafka. This is such a cute little cafe in Prague and is a perfect breakfast and coffee stop. The cafe is over a 100 years old. Coming in, you can easily see why it's such a gem and so frequented by some of the greatest minds in history - Franz Kafka, Albert Einstein, to name just a few . We came in for a quick cup of coffee before heading to the train station and boy everything was delicious. It's such a friendly, vibrant place that I would have loved to spend the entire afternoon here reading a book or even just people watching. The decor is gorgeous and the prices are fairly reasonable! I'd say about $5-7 per person for coffee and pastry. I ended up ordering a Viennese Coffee which is basically two shots of espresso with whipped cream. It wasn't too sweet, and deliciously brewed. I also ended up adding "lemon pancakes" with it, which was more of crepes with powdered sugar and lemon juice on the side. The dish was light and refreshing - perfect for a morning brunch. I highly recommend stopping by here if you get a chance. It's definitely worth a special trip :) read more

Great Czech - French fusion food. The veal entercote was exquisite, a perfect blend of flavors that strengthened and tamed each other. The garlic soup was creamy with garlic greens and a poached eggs, the cooking removed the pungent aspects of garlic. My dining partner had the roasted rabbit with a sauerkraut sauce and potato gnocchi. The sauerkraut sauce was far more sophisticated than the name may suggest; there was the hint of sour with sweetness savory grilled onion. His soup was the sting beef broth simmered down for two days over two large beef and liver meatballs. We shared the beef tartar - very smooth. Quite different from the more Slavic tartar which has small chunks of garnish through the meat. This place is a real treat and the prices are very reasonable. read more

To be honest, this restaurant/cafe was one of my least favorite places to eat in Prague. I think it was because I went to so many other restaurants in Prague that had better food. I came here for the novelty and for its longstanding history of having famous people dine here. When I came, the non-smoking section was completely taken up, so I had to sit in the smoking section, which wasn't too bad. The fruit salad I ordered was good but it wasn't the freshest fruit I had. I had the pancakes with a raspberry sauce, which was...good. I don't remember it being amazing. It wasn't amazingly fluffy, and I kind of remember the pancakes being a little bitter, which I thought was weird. The service was also alright. It took a while for me to get someone's attention though. What I liked about this place was that they have slips of paper and a pencil at every table so you could sketch or write down your thoughts while you're there! It's pretty awesome :) Other than that, if you're looking for a breakfast place with solid food, this probably isn't the place to come. But if you're interested in the historical aspect of this place, I suppose it's worth a visit. It's also a little pricier than the other restaurants I've been to too. When I visited Prague, the hostel I was staying at recommended this place for breakfast or brunch. On our second day we decided to check it out to see why it was so highly reviewed. While I had some excellent food throughout my time in Prague and elsewhere, this place was my absolute favorite restaurant in Prague. I ordered the pork with spinach and dumplings off of their daily menu which is cheaper than most of their normal dishes. Everything was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. Their American Lemonade was also hands down the absolute best lemonade I've ever had in my life. Service was good if a bit slow, and it was really crowded for lunch time so take that into consideration. Other than that, fantastic place to eat! A must! read more
