Great spot, convenient location with welcoming atmosphere and staff. Had delicious pancakes with banana. Pleasantly surprised to find banana slices between the pancakes. Found this place based on Yelp recommendations within four blocks of my Airbnb. Like pretty much everyone else said, it's delicious and extremely affordable. I got the Mexican breakfast and a fresh juice for around $6 plus tip. The starter dish was toasted bread with homemade jam. The humble little fruit plate blew my mind. Ate here a couple of times, once for lunch and then returned another day for breakfast. Very trendy spot. They had menus in both English and Spanish and the staff spoke both languages. We first found this little spot for lunch because it was close to the apartment we were staying at, it's a short distance from the tourist area but worth the walk. The restaurant is small and trendy, also very clean. Their food was very fresh and healthy. For lunch I had their special for the day, which was fish and grilled vegetables and thoroughly enjoyed it. When I returned for breakfast a few days later I had the complete combo. Their orange juice is fresh squeezed and they have the best chorizo I've had in recent memory. read more

Burnt empanadas. (See pics) Inattentive staff. And I ordered the salad with salmon... They brought it to me... No salmon. It took several minutes to get a staff's attention... Finally when it returned to me... *wish I had taken a photo, there were two bites of salmon ...that's all. TWO bite-sized pieces... For 135 pesos?? A small, mediocre ensalada with olive oil and vinegar brought to the table for me to dress??? No salt. No pepper--Ugh no!!! Wasn't worth $7. Nor half that price. I should have sent it back. Worst presentation I have ever experienced in my 12 years of coming to Playa Del Carmen and the massive number of restaurants I have frequented. In addition, no one ever circled back, offered chimichurri or aimed to care! Que lastíma. What a disgrace. ...And I am Argentine and speak Spanish, so no language barrier to use as an excuse. Nor were they very busy. Go to Papa Charly across the street or Mercado 30 for better tasting selections and service. Or anywhere, but here. So disappointed. First impressions matter. read more

Such a wonderful place. The food is amazing and fresh. I've order most of the menu and have enjoy each dish as much as the one before. They have a green salsa that goes good on anything and it has some kick. I would compare this to one of my favorites back in the states. I've eaten breakfast at Cafe Orange every day for almost 3 weeks. Not only is the food fantastic, but the price for the breakfast combo is a steal. For around $5 USD you can get: Fresh Squeezed Juice, Toast and Jam, Fruit Plate, Latte, and then the main dish: Grilled Ham and Cheese Sandwich with Fried Potatoes. This main dish varies based on what you pick from the menu. I get the Argentine. I usually save half of this meal for lunch as it's so much food. Essentially you get Breakfast and Lunch for $5 USD (FIVE BUCKS!). Best of all the service is great. I give this place my highest recommendation! Note: This is an open air cafe with a lot of fans and comfy seating. read more

After checking into our rented condo, we decided to explore the Little Italy neighborhood. Just a block away, we noticed Cafe Orange kind of tucked away between some residences. We were immediately greeted by a friendly young man and were given menus. It was around 2p and we noticed the breakfast menu. Unfortunately, breakfast was over but our waiter was able to make us lattes and cappuccinos. The coffee here is phenomenal. Full bodied and flavorful. We stopped in for coffee almost everyday during our vacation. Our waiter told us what was on the lunch menu and we decided to try the carrot soup and the cucumber mango salad. Oh my goodness! The carrot soup was creamy and very tasty. The salad was very different than what i am used to but so good. The romaine lettuce combined with a spicy creamy dressing coupled with cucumber, fresh mango, fresh jicama and spicy tortilla chips had an interesting flavor and kept my interest!! The service was also top notch. The waitstaff was helpful when we needed assistance trying to locate lost luggage. We will definitely stop here again when we are in Playa del Carmen. read more

Great place for breakfast (and the serve lunch too but I have only eaten breakfast here twice). I got the eggs Benedict both times. I love it! It is served over a sweet waffle which gives it a unique taste. All seating is outside so no a/c, but they do have individual fans for each table. Most of the ladies serving speak English too. The food does take a bit longer than usual so do not go if you are in a hurry. But while you're waiting they will give you some toast with homemade blueberry jam. Delicious! read more

Thanks to Yelp we had the opportunity to try this lovely place for breakfast while on vacation in Playa! My kids and I loved it all! They both had the American and I had the Mexican combo, all of which included fresh squeezed orange juice and your choice of coffee, fresh made latte, or chocolate (any of which could be iced or hot)! We had one of each. The food was fresh, hot, and presented well. We even got fried breakfast potatoes which wasn't on the menu as being included. I had the chilaquiles which were delicious and way too big for me to eat them all! It was super affordable too! The service was attentive and sweet too. What a great experience! read more

This is a great cafe! I only had breakfast here, sadly, but they also have lunch options! I was in playa for 6 days and I went here for breakfast for 5/6. I tried to have something different every morning. The best dishes in my opinion and a must try are the chilaquiles and the enchiladas suizas! The salsa is a bit spicy, but I like spice so it was perfect for me. I'm not sure if their orange juice is fresh squeezed or not but it tastes like it is. I don't even drink coffee, but I had a latte with my meal almost every day and it was really good. They also give you toasted bread with jelly before your meal and the jelly is pretty good. Overall really good place. Quality food at reasonable prices. Definitely will come back if I'm in the area again. Este es un gran café!
