F and service on point. Great hidden little spot for a nice breakfast, went there around 1-2 was definitely empty as the server said their busiest hours are early mornings. Will definitely go back again.

Food: Yummy is the word! The waffles were made out of sour dough (San Francisco style, I was told). They were crisp on the outside and mushy inside with some fruits. My egg sandwich and bread were just cooked at perfection. A must try is their fresh squeeze orange juice. Not negotiable - I promise...lol.. Service: The owner offered to prepare something out of the menu if we let him know a day before. The waitress was nice, but it looked like she was new. We asked for recommendations, and she wasn't super helpful. However, the food was so great that it wasn't needed. It's a simple restaurant but the people were very nice and welcoming. Ambiance: Good for a small group and just a few people. There are not many tables which it won't be crowded (I like that personally). It is more family oriented than a date. It's not a fancy place but perfect for breakfast. Price: very reasonable prices and just the right amount of food.

Almost feel bad giving this place 3 statrs because I guess this place is popular for thr waffles and gordita but apparently they ran out. They close at 3 pm, we went there around 1230 and server said they ran out of those two. Not much of choices after that so ordered the egg skillet and egg breakfast plate. Ordered enfused lemonade which was bit on the sour side. Made me laugh when I got my skillet dish on a plate. Expected to come on a hot skillet . Portions were pretty small. My skillet wasn't bad, nothing special with chopped up hot dogs. The egg dish was disappointing. Sliced avacado was not ripe, half of it was hard. The beans that came with it was half cooked. Or maybe that's how they serve it. Dry and al dente beans. Over all the food was OK and after all said and done for what we got seemed pretty high for the value.. Maybe if I ever come back here again and try the waffle my rating might be higher. But for what I tasted today it seems fair. Total bill was 410 pesos.

Savory waffle with bacon, fried eggs and Oaxaca cheese. Natural lemonade behind.

I visit here two years ago during a trip to Playa. Two people in my group ordered waffles and I immediately regretted the breakfast burrito I had ordered. I thought about those waffles since then and came directly here to have breakfast. The waffles are fermented and have a unique flavor. They are delicious! I ordered a savory waffle and really enjoyed it. It had bacon, fried eggs and Oaxacan cheese. They give you a side of syrup so you can make it sweet if you want to. The service here is excellent and if you sit outside you can see the ocean.

Fried egg plate, veggie burrito with eggs and potatoes, iced coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice

Our meals were so good that we came back again the next day! Quaint and charming patio with fantastic service - loved meeting the father/son duo that started it all. We had a vegetarian burrito (on a homemade flour tortilla) and the fried egg plate. As a vegetarian it was easy to have confidence that the food was prepared safely. The orange juice is freshly squeezed and not to be missed. Highly recommend!

Gorditas (egg and chorizo), bowl of fruit with granola and yogurt, savory waffle and cappuccino.

I saw this restaurant and decided to check it out. We had to wait a little to be seated since it was busy and waited a little longer for our food but it was all worth it. I ordered the gorditas with egg and chorizo and they were delicious! The fruit was fresh and the granola was just as good. I highly recommend checking it out, but if you're looking for something quick this probably isn't the place for you (the gorditas are worth it though!)

Great breakfast stop by the beach. Location: about a block from beach Staff: super friendly, we had the pleasure to be served by 2 young guys who were very attentive, friendly and helpful Taste: we had the spicy burrito and it was a great hit! Sandwich was also great. We got a side of eggs and definitely good. Gorditas, the corn part was a little to heavy for me but the inside chorizo and egg with Oaxaca cheese were great! Drinks: lemonade was delish and refreshing. Caramel latte is a must. Price: average Will definitely go here again

Ooooookay. I understand why this place is the BEST breakfast in Playa del Carmen. Angel's father (from AZ) owns the restaurant and we were lucky enough to get Angel as our server. It was a very easy walk from our hotel, but it's worth a taxi. Right next to the Frida Museum and you can see the ocean from the outdoor seating, but there's also tables inside if you want shade from the sun. He helped me pick the best coffee drink - their iced caramel latte which had good coffee flavor and amazing house-made caramel. My boyfriend got the iced chocolate which was also good but no coffee flavor. We got the fruit bowl (because I NEEDED fiber and I was pleasantly surprised with the variety - pineapple, pear, apple, blueberry, blackberry, raspberry, watermelon, greek yogurt, and delicious granola. Very good! As my main, I HAD to get the Tangy Homemade Waffle. First off, their waffles are homemade, yeast based, and fermented, "resulting in a tangy flavor pairing well with sweet or savory toppings" - can confirm. Best waffle I've ever had. I chose the one that was topped with fried eggs, avocado, spinach and basil served with a smoky chipotle sauce and sweet maple syrup on the side. My boyfriend got the Madrez! Chorizo Gorditas- homemade flour gorditas (2) stuffed with fluffy eggs, chorizo and cheese and was also very happy. They are cash only but there is a bank nearby and they let me pay 1/2 peso and 1/2 USD to settle my tab. WOULD RECOMMEND TO A FRIEND!

This place is another MUST GO!!We went around 10 AM and despite the few amount of seats, they did not have a wait. The waiter was super nice and approachable. The fresh orange juice is 100% delicious. It tasted fresh. No added sugar. Freshly squeeze delicious juice. DEF GET THE WAFFLE. the waffle is not american haha It is very airy and not heavy. The syrup they provide is so delicious. The egg was perfectly cooked. The spicy burrito was also delicious. I loved the salsa on the side. Not super spicy. Very filling. I liked the waffle more but my partner really enjoyed this burrito. You HAVE to go here. The quality of food and the price ?!? You can't beat it here.

This was such a nice way to end our trip to Playa. Hours before checking out of our hotel, we walked a block to Madrez and were immediately seated. It's a small place, but thankfully wasn't too busy when we came. For our order, went with the recommendations from the server and they did not disappoint! The chorizo gorditas and the tangy homemade waffle were amazing! Also the blackberry lemonade was good as well. The waffle with syrup combined with the savory toppings was a flavorful combination that wasn't too heavy. And the Gordita made us want more. The server was so nice and gave great recommendations! We will definitely be back next time we visit, and won't wait until the day we leave!

We picked this place so we could have some breakfast before we caught the ferry to Cozumel. The savory waffle was good. Some cheese baked into it and 2 eggs and bacon on top. Very different. People in my group ordered the burrito and the poblano dish and said it was tasty. Didn't love their coffee. Too strong for me. Service was attentive and friendly.

Everything was superb. The service and the foods. Shout to Angel he is very attentive and polite. If you find yourself in Playa del Carmen, you definitely need to check out this place. Ambience is very relax, near the beach.

    Iced coffee

The best ice coffee ever. Everything I am in plays del carmen I make sure to get me a breakfast burrito and a caramel iced coffee. 10/10

Great breakfast, especially if you're staying at the Thompson Beach, House, and wonderful service.

The establishment was busy but attention to guests was great. Ordered the waffle with side of sausage. The waffle was perfection. Very light and buttery. The whipped cream was not overly sweet and a perfect compliment. My partner had French toast with bacon. By the silence and how quickly it disappeared I'll say it was also good. The highlight to me was our server. I did not catch her name but her tattoos were beautiful! She was very attentive to us (and others around us). She switched seamlessly from Spanish to English, which was helpful for me. I had my translator out to help with my broken Spanish but it was not needed . Beautiful breakfast and the walk back afterward was rough since we were stuffed. It did help in digestion though We paired

The restaurant is clean and very modern. The ceiling is cute! They have egg cartons as their ceiling! I was surprised that I couldn't just got hot black coffee, so I ordered a latte, wasn't disappointed! They even designed a heart at the top! We shared an almond croissant and they gave out passionfruit yogurt with a crunchy topping - these two things were my favorite of the meal. We are even talking about going back tomorrow just to get these two things! We also shared the Luca sandwich - this was delicious!! The sandwich has ham, cream cheese, mushrooms, and truffle oil, and topped with an egg. So delicious! There was a salad on the side that had some type of vinaigrette on it. The only complaint was that the vinaigrette was soaked up in the bottom piece of bread which made those bites a little busy when all in one bite. If I ever get a chance to order this again, I'd ask for the dressing on the side. We also got the chicken and waffles. This is the only thing we were disappointed with, not disappointed enough to mark the rest of the experience down though. The chicken was pretty good, but some bites were really salty. The waffle was so dry, even with adding the syrup, it didn't help with the waffle much. Overall, we loved this place! So glad we got to eat here! And the service was wonderful throughout the whole meal!
