My wife & I have been here a couple times for breakfast. Each time we could barely finish "half" of what we ordered. Last visit we ordered one "everything omelet" to share, and we still couldn't finish it! Adam Richmon from "Man v.s. Food" would be hard pressed to finish this monstrosity of a meal. My wife and I went to Cafe 67 for the first time last Monday. Which happened to be Martin Luther King Day. So a lot of people were off. The parking lot was full so we had to park down the street. I thought for sure were going to have to wait awhile but when we went inside we were sat right away and there we actually some booths still open. Our server came over right away and gave us our menus. She took our drink orders and brought them back promptly. When we ordered our food it came out quick and was great. There prices here are cheap and you get huge portions. Our bill was only $21.00 and they give us so much food that both my wife and I had to bring some home with us. Two meals for $20.00. You can't beat that. If you have never been to Cafe 67 it is a nice little dinner at the end of the 67 in Lakeside. My family has been there a few times and usually enjoy our meals just not their prices. Unfortunately I tried their pancakes, they cost $4.00 for a short stack, these things were so thick I thought 2 were stuck together. I could not eat them, they were too dense and dry. I asked the server to remove them from my bill and only the pancakes mind you. After a few minutes the bill came back the same. I ended up talking with manager, She put me on the spot in front of the entire restaurant trying to understand why I wouldn't want to pay for such a wonderful pancake. I tried to tell her they were inedible but she was not having that. I even had some guy who knew her in the next booth making fun of me because I didn't care for their pancakes. My bill came to $24.00 for two, that was my mother's omelette and coffee and my pancakes and side of bacon. All I wanted to remove was the pancakes. Finally she got angry and wrote in crayon to remove the stupid pancakes, by this time my mother and I paid and slunk outta there real quick hoping we didn't get shot in the back for complaining. It should have been an easy thing to do I would have gone on being a happy customer eating yummy bacon and just avoiding the pancakes and getting the french toast but instead it turned into a nightmare over a friggin $4.00 dollars!!!! After that totally humiliating experience I have opted to avoid this place like the plague. read more

Wow! I should leave it at that, but I'll explain. I ordered their #4 which I had 3 chorizo scrambled eggs with cheese, hash browns and a fresh made tortilla. It was amazing, better than the Broken Yoke and Tyler's Taste of Texas version of the same thing, a much larger portion as well, it pretty much was too much food and only $7.50. The lady had a pick your own style omelette hash browns and a biscuit with gravy for like $9.50, it all looked perfect and I tried a bite of the biscuit and gravy, and it wasn't the best I ever had, but easily the best I have around here and the best of its particular style, not to mention the biscuit was so so light and fluffy, quite amazing. All together the lady, her friend, my 3 "big eater" kids, and I all had more than our fill of very delicious old cafe style breakfast for like $48, well it was really $58 because our waitress was so amazing I'd have felt guilty not giving her, her cut. I've been driving by the place for over a year seeing a crowded parking lot, thinking I should try that place and now I'm feeling like an idiot that I just finally did. read more

I wanted to love this place since it's a diner serving breakfast near my house that yelp and my neighbors love. Unfortunately, I was super disappointed with the quality of the food and service, so much that I'd be hard pressed to go back. The parking lot is packed, which is usually a good sign, but makes it almost impossible to find a parking spot. I ordered my usual breakfast (eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast), but was seriously disappointed. My eggs weren't cooked over medium (they were over easy, at best with lots of runny whites) and though I never send food back, I had to get my eggs and my bacon re-cooked because they were just too under-cooked to eat. Unfortunately, that took forever because our waitress was MIA. They did return my food as I had originally ordered when my waitress finally came around to fix it. Then there were the potatoes. They were seasoned so weird that I can't even describe what the flavors were, but nothing I would ever want to eat again. Having worked in the service industry, I can be generous and give people a second chance, but I would be hard pressed to do that here. read more

Lakesides best kept secret ? I don't think so. We went there for lunch and had the philly steak sandwich. It was bland, over stuffed and messy. At $9 it should have been much better. The curley fries were luke warm. To make matters so much worse , my husband found a longish brown hair on his plate. We won't be back. I tried the eggs Benedict based on a post i had read. The egg Benedict overall was good but the ham was a little thin. Something they should consider. But the staff was great. I like the fact that they put the picture of water on your table. I would definitely go back! read more

My fave breakfast place! My boyfriend was dedicated to another breakfast place..and I converted him! It wasn't hard, one visit is all it took. Their portions are huge so if you go for lunch I would recommend sharing a sandwich and fries since the plates are so big...and unlike most places that give you large portions the food is very yummy! You want to eat the entire super huge portion it's so good! The best is their breakfast scramble, you gotta try it! read more

My whole family loves this place for breakfast. I've never tried the lunch food, but after breakfast you won't need to eat for the rest of the day anyway. Everything I've tried has been perfect and the staff has always been pleasant. Not a long wait either. But boy do I miss that mannequin:) read more

The food is good, the service is good, but parking in this tiny lot after 9 a.m. is pathetic. Don't go hungry, because after 9 a.m. you'll probably be mad as well. If we go at all, we always have a back up breakfast place because we know the likelihood of finding a spot to park is dam near impossible. read more

Best breakfast in East County. Try the Baja Burrito that made with Chorizo. Good stuff. I eat here at least once a week.

Strap on the feedbags! They have very good size portions here! The waitresses are friendly and are fast to wait on you. They always take your drink order when they seat you. The food is excellent. My only complaint would be the parking. There are certain times the lot is full and other times you can pull right in. Maybe it's just the time of day that we are able to go there but we usually find parking 2 out of 10 times. (It's worth it to keep trying) However, that should attest to what great food they have. read more

Ok so all you people claiming it is good NOT! My wife and i try all breakfast places and this one was the worst of them all.The biscuits were awful they had to be left from the night before.I suppose everyone who goes there cannot cook so thats why you all think it is good come are you crazy.The biscuit was so huge and tasteless i was thinking of becoming a wide receiver and telling my wife to throw me a pass.The omelet was topped with a mound of tasteless guacamole and the hash browns were cold and not crispy.I urge anyone to please not waste your time there try country waffles in El Cajon much better or for that matter dennys is is better.Plus prices are to high 27 dollars for breakfast not anymore.BLLUUUCCKK YYYUUUCCCCKKK....... read more
