I got here early to meet up with a friend. As I walked in I was greeted "Hello, Welcome" very quickly in a nonchalant kind of way without even looking at my face. I guess when I like to be greeted I like to look at that persons face. Does not hurt to show a little enthusiasm in a greeting when the hour is slow. I'm just traditional in that sense. So I thought I would sit down near the entrance and kill some time to take in what Café 86 is all about since its my first time. From what I hear of course its all about the Ube. Sitting for about 30 minutes and just scrutinizing the café I notice the big chalkboard with drawings of a face of Darth Vader, a outline vehicle with the number 86 on it , Filipino stars of the Filipino flag, then you have Nevada and California bordering each other showing different area codes of assuming that café 86 has 4 locations you have the cliché of a quote like the milk commercial " Got Ube?"In a way felt like Pictionary when I was staring into the chalkboard trying to see if there was a story or a connection behind the café. Already sense the owner was Filipino hence the Filipino flag and the " Got Ube"? quote which I thought was a bit corny. I finally got up to the counter and curious to what kinds of Ube fusion they offer. Immediately, I was cut off from another customer so I let this person have their attention because I wanted to know information about the establishment so I sat back down knowing I will take awhile and wanted to talk and get more information. Staff did not even try to talk to me right away after they helped another customer. However, after 10 minutes went by I gave someone a look and one of the staff finally asked me if I was ready to order. I said " Not yet and I'm waiting for my friend." knowing I want more information but decided to just wait till my friend arrives and I will get more information from them when she gets here. Scrutinizing and just taking everything in. I notice that a lot of young college crowds like to hang out and study. The layout was open space with an industrial interior pipe lighting with a faux brick wall. Dining area of bistro tables and chairs. A few steps that lead you into a section of Leather couches that are tuft. So my friend finally arrives and I loved the prices of the desserts so I went ahead and ordered most items in the window. I loved the Turon Pop tart and Ube cheesecake. Loved the affordability but I wish they would showcase more items and fill up with their window case so it can look appealing. I finally ask one of the staff of where did the name Café 86 came from ?? She mentioned that the owner loves 1986 Toyota Corolla. Then I asked why the Darth Vader character on the chalkboard and she said the owner loves Star wars. Hmmm ok. Not much of a back story for me but I guess it works. Saw this advertised on IG and since I was on my way home from work, decided to check them out. Located on the Southwest side of Vegas, and right before the 215 east freeway on Jones, is a cute little cafe cannot miss it. Cafe does have plenty of seating and has a homey feel to it as you walk in. As you walk in, there of course is a showcase of their famous known desserts that's calling everybody. They, however already got everyone as Ube has become a huge hit, especially in Vegas. Known for their Ube Leche Flan Cupcake, I had to try one. I also ended up getting the Ube Crack, along with the Ube Tiramisu Monster, and a Peach Mango tea. As soon as I got home, could not resist. I literally had to taste everyone. By far, it was worth it. I even had it before dinner (I know, they always say it ruins your dinner to have dessert). Nope, not so sorry glad I did. Ube Leche Flan, you definitely got to bite into together at the same time to get the full effect. Boy, the Leche flan perfect sweetness with that caramel custard was the icing and what made the cake was the moist, yet rich taste of the Ube beneath it. Best concept ever came up with 5/5. Ube crack, made like Ube cream with butter cream frosting definitely super sweet and maybe overwhelming if you want all that cream 5/5. Their Ube tiramisu, to die for. You got me at the tiramisu part. Cream and the same as the concept of the cupcake, it's ultimately like a miniature cake all in one 5/5. I was so tempted to add to my order. They also, have other desserts from cookies, to truffles, halo cake, to drinks (teas and coffee mostly). Definitely a top place to go to. Will be back soon, definitely check them out. I like ube but I am not a crazy over the head fan. I've been waiting for Cafe 86 to open for a while now -- ever since seeing their sign! I've been to Cafe 86 twice now. And prior to that, I was lucky enough to have tried it in SoCal once. Also, yelp check in gets you a hibiscus cooler for free! Very refreshing and not too sweet :) Great drink! Now let's talk about the different pastries/desserts that I have tried so far. Churrochi with ube ice cream. I got to share this with my husband and best friend. It is exactly as it sounds. It is made of mochi and churro-fied. Cut into pieces with a nice scoop of ube. I kind of wished the pieces were thicker so I could get a better texture of the mochi though -- would make it softer instead of crunchy. The ube ice cream was delicious. Had a good ube flavor and wasn't overly sweet. Their slutty brownie had no ube in it. I wasn't a huge fan and I think it would be better if warm. Otherwise, it's a bit hard and not really worth trying. The ube crack cheesecake looked great. Taste wise though, it was a bit one dimension. The ube flavor was not as prominent as I would have hoped. Instead, it just tasted like a regular cheesecake. The ube truffle was thick, heavy, and also not really worth trying imo. The ube flavor was also kind of absent. Their ube butter bar was pretty good. At first it looked as though it would be heavy but it was not. It was pretty light and it was pretty good. My favorite, by far, has got to be the ube crinkle, which is pretty much an ube cookie. It was light, fluffy, and airy. The flavor of the ube was nice as well. Out of all the pastries/sweets that I have tried, I would definitely get this again. Prices are really fair. Service from the cashier was great both times I've gone. Overall, pretty decent. Came here for the first time after a night of bowling and desserts at another place. Then again while my best friend and I went out for some groceries. We came here on two separate occasions because it was a bit late on the 1st visit and we felt a lot of stuff may have sold out. We went again a few days later in the afternoon and had found a slightly different offering. Located on the NorthWest corner of Jones and Russell, it sits in the corner building, in the same plaza as widely known breakfast joint, Mr Mama's. This is a dessert place from SoCal that specializes in desserts with Ube (purple potato). Venue itself has a rustic "hipster" design to it, but fairly open. Hibiscus Cooler - "free" with yelp check in. Nice drink for such hot weather. Hibiscus flavor is nice and not overpowering. Not overly sweet either. Churrochi w/ Ube Ice Cream - this is what that got us to come the first time. As the name states, its a churro made with mochi. Small round mochi "cake" dusted with cinnamon sugar like a churro. For an additional $1.50, we opt'ed for the ube ice cream ! I convinced my friend to get it "for the gram..." and she was like YES ! xD but we thoroughly enjoyed the ice cream. Ube ice cream never failed. Such a nice purple potato flavor. The mochi could be slightly thicker to give a nicer chewy bite but it was still pretty decent, especially for the price Ube Leche Flan Cupcake - Flan on top of a ube cupcake. The flan was awkwardly firm, too firm for my liking. Flavor wise was decent. The cupcake was super moist and flavorful. Slutty Brownie - Did not realize this had no ube in it whatsoever. Lol I had thought the brownie aspect of it had ube but guess not ! The cookie aspect of the slutty brownie hardens fairly quick, but nothing a little quick zap in the microwave does not fix. soft cookie and a soft brownie. All I was missing was a scoop of ice cream ! Ube Crack Cheesecake - Cupcake sized ube flavored cream cheese piped on top of a light crust w/ a light sugar crust topping. Probably my "least" favorite of all the things tried so far. Ube flavor was a bit light too Ube Butter Bar - Despite its looks, this was surprisingly "light". Fairly "thick" ube part of it w/ a cake aspect on the bottom. Ube Crinkles - This surprisingly was yummy. It was described to be as a cookie but it was more like cake in a shape of a cookie. Very light but very flavorful with bits of ube ! The crinkle was dusted with powdered sugar on top Overall, the stuff from here is ok. Nothing mind blowing. Most things are ok. I like trying new places, especially cafes. This one has a cute vibe and some comfy couches for sitting. I ordered the Cookie Butter Latte and grilled cheese. The latte was good but they don't offer decaf. The grilled cheese tasted fine but I think their panini machine needs some cleaning. The grilled cheese was rather displeasing looking. The service was fine as well. They promptly opened at 1130 and greeted you when you walked in. I wouldn't recommend this place if you're coming for what I had for food and I can't vouch for their deserts but I think that's their speciality more so than the grilled cheese. read more

They have two variations, the upside down and the regular halo halo. The upside down is the more popular one which the main milkshake base is ube flavored and they add vanilla ice cream on top. Simply Fantastic! Very relaxing atmosphere for such a small place with some nice seatings available inside. However it could get very busy on the weekend and finding a seat might be a problem. I ordered a couple of Ube cheesecakes and Yesssss they were perfection...so moist, buttery and delicious! This store absolutely does a great job at balancing flavors. It's rich, creamy but not too sweet, just exactly how I like it. Ube ice cream sandwich was very flavorful as well, another great dessert to have on a hot day. I also had Ube monster milkshake and Cali mango slush. They both were pretty tasty and satisfying!!! Definitely had a pleasant visit. Mood- tea Upon entering was greeted with great customer service. I asked regarding dairy substitutions and they have almond milk. You place your order at the front counter, find seating, then wait for your name to be called. I opted for the Ube Milk Tea w/ Lychee, hibiscus calamansi, ube flan, and halo halo bread pudding, that comes with Ube ice cream. For me that hibiscus and Ube Flan were the highlight. We were full after a large breakfast at Mr. Mamas but that didn't stop me from wanting to go into Cafe 86. Surprisingly it was noon and totally empty. The first thing we saw was some really cool vintage and unique decor: a bench seat that looked like the front of a car, a 4 foot storm trooper, lots of patio lighting, some retro contraptions of sorts, and a raised seating area. I browsed over the baked goods: 90% of the things were ube based, but not like that's a bad thing. Luckily despite the fact that my husband was not too excited to try something new let alone something purple, but everything looked so good he was willing to try! We decided on a ube butter bar, an ube concha cupcake, an ube crinkle cookie, and two smookies (s'mores cookies). Just by checking in on Yelp I got a free hibiscus cooler too! We took everything home since we were full but it didn't stop us from taking a bite here and there. The hibiscus cooler was flavorful, reminiscent of Starbucks hibiscus coolers. Tasty with a mild floral aftertaste. I had to pry it from my son's hands before he tried to down it all. The crinkle was soft, chewy, and covered with powdered sugar. The butter bar was rich, creamy, and decadent. The concha cupcake was the perfect mix of concha and ube cupcake. I unfortunately didn't get to try the smookies as the boys ate them before I got to try any, but the fact that they didn't complain is a good sign. Note to self: next time buy 3. Displayed within the glass case are a variety of yumminess. I wanted ALL of the desert items, which by the way is made of UBE (oo-bae). Quick lesson , UBE is a purple yam originally from the Philippines. It's essentially a bright purple sweet potato with an even sweeter, more mellow taste than its orange relative with a slightly nutty, vanilla taste. It's popularly used in desserts in Filipino cuisine, often boiled and then mashed with condensed milk. Ok, anywho, we ordered Ube Cupcake with Flan, Ube Cheesecake, Ube Monster shake, and Halo Halo. If you love ube than this is a must try place for you!! This is the only location they have in Vegas but apparently there are a few in California. Atmosphere: It's a very large location. It has plenty of seating and has some nice decor. The sofas they have in the elevated area are super comfortable, honestly almost fell asleep. I come here a few times to study and read, it's very peaceful. Food: So for all ube lovers out there this place is gotta be on your list they have literally ube everything. For those who do not know what ube is it's a root that is used in some desserts Filipinos make. I have had the ube flan cupcake the tres leche cake and of course the halo halo. All had amazing taste to them!! I personally enjoyed the ube tres leche it's something different. The halo halo was pretty standard only think I wish I got more of was jack fruit pieces man I love jack fruit. It just felt like there was little to none in my halo halo. Price: So to be honest it was pretty expensive. Some of the items I felt were not worth the price they put. For example, my halo halo was around 7 dollars, most usually range from 4-5 but this a bit pricey for my taste. Overall: I still think this place is a place you should try. My first impressions of the café when I entered was sheek yet retro with warehouse vibes. They had a wall that had exposed brick which was a nice touch. The place was very clean, yet the trash can bag was falling in the trash can. Nothing someone such as myself couldn't fix. The menu was written on the wall in chalk. I would have like to see a more diverse amount of teas, but I understand you can't have everything at every café. If you like ube this is the place to be. I had never been to this coffee shop and thankfully when I went there was only two people in there. I asked the girl to explain the desserts to me because I had never been there and she seemed to be annoyed. I get it, it was a lot to explain but I didn't know what anything was. And I wasn't going to buy something and not like it. This is the only reason I gave the café 4 stars. If you check in on yelp you receive a free hibiscus drink with the purchase of a dessert. I ordered the regular milk tea. I normally drink oolong milk tea, so I figured this would be the closest. I did not care for the drink. It was very strong which is great for people who drink tea on a daily basis, but for people such as myself who drink it only about 4 times a year, I could not take it. I ordered the ube butter bar which was great. It wasn't too rich, and it melts right in your mouth. I would highly recommend that bar for a dessert of choice. My friend ordered a drink and the presentation was great. I overall did like this café, however I would only probably go back for the desserts not the drinks, The service was great besides the girl not wanting to explain any of the desserts. Last time we had it was in So-cal, and unlike other chains where their desserts don't taste as great as the OG spot, this LV branch makes it jst as well! This spot is bigger than the one in So cal. It has many tables and chairs where you can sit down and enjoy your dessert, as well as a long high table and several couches. We got one of each dessert that they had left- the ube flan, cheesecake, truffle, and butter bar. My fav, is def the ube flan! The flan def complimented the cupcake and it wasn't too sweet! I brought my mother here for desert on Mothers day. The staff is always so kind, patient and informative. The Kouki monster milkshakes are amazing. Milkshakes from other places can be difficult to drink through a straw, not these. These Ube bars are phenomenal, it's wild how sweet this yam is. After placing the order for 2 milkshakes and an Ube bar the lady gave my mom a mothers day treat (I'm sorry I did not get your name, next time). Good for studying with friends- not the best for boba lovers. My friend and I came here in need of a place to study and we naturally had picked Cafe 86 since we were both FIENDS for ube and boba and never tried this place before. I had ordered a "honey b" milk tea with boba which was basically milk tea with honey. I had also purchased one of their signature flan cupcakes. The milk tea was RIDICULOUSLY SWEET, and that's coming from a person who has a huuuuge sweet tooth. I literally felt my insulin levels rise after drinking that milk tea. There was no offer to control the sweetness percentage. The flavor was very mediocre and the boba was mushy, you could tell it was sitting for long and wasn't fresh. There was also not enough boba for the whole drink. As for the cupcake - so overrated. I see this all over Instagram but the cupcake is so dense and doesn't mix well with the already creamy and heavy flan. The flan was made just right, however, the cupcake could have been so much better. My friend had gotten the ube milk tea and it was nothing special, just another overly sweet drink with mushy boba. On top of that, the man that was taking my order wasn't necessarily friendly. Didn't say thank you and was very flat. There are sooo many better boba places in Vegas than this one for a much better price. Overpriced. Overacted. They have a wide variety of flavored drinks. It's a quaint cafe with lounge chairs and some tables to sit down. They also have the Filipino dessert called Halo Halo but served in a tall cup. I love Ube - a cafe with Ube errrythang? Shit, I'm sold. And its not just because I'm Filipino lol. Minus a star for the price - but regardless I think certain items they offer is well worth every penny of the price. Ube Truffle: 10/10 would recommend. My favorite item I have tried so far. Reminds me of a cake pop except with a crunchy coating of cookie if that makes sense. Ube Leche Flan Cupcake: 3/5. Love flan. Love Ube cupcakes (as mentioned I love Ube errythang). However together it wasn't what I was expecting. I think it definitely looks better than it tastes. Its difficult to eat both the flan and the ube cupcake in one bite. I just separated it plus it gets a bit sticky from the flan. Hibiscus cooler: 3/5 Very refreshing. Glad it was offered as a free item upon checking in to good old Yelp. Its a very spacious and clean cafe. This store is located off the strip but I would say worth the drive if you are just staying on the strip. Luckily I have family who live close by. During my brief 5 days stay at Vegas I had the pleasure of visiting this cute cafe three times. I came in and was greeted by a friendly staff. I told him it was my first time there and he recommended ube halo halo for a drink, however all my orders were ube so I opted to get the free Hibiscus drink with the Yelp check in instead and Rose milk tea. During my three visits, the things I got were ff: ube flan cupcake, ube bread pudding, ube crinkles, ube cream cheese muffin. My mother enjoyed the ube cupcake flan when I shared it to her, and asked me to go back and buy more. By the time we left Vegas I had to go back and purchase more. I got most of what they have that day to bring back home. I was craving Ube one day and now i'm frequently at Cafe86 every week for their desserts! I always end up getting the ube crinkle, ube truffle, ube crack cheesecake, ube leche flan cupcake, and ube butter bar. All of the desserts should end with crack bc it is addicting. As for the shakes, they are alright as well. I just wish it was a little bit more sweet and tasted as their main ingredient. I've ordered the Kouki Monster shake and and their Cookie Butter Shakes which both basically tasted more of the milk and very little of the cookie butter/ cookies n' cream part. Overall, I still love Cafe86 and will give their other drinks a chance but still coming back anytime I need an Ube fix. read more

9/24/22 I came here and ordered three drinks. The reason I gave a two star is because the customer service was really good. However, One of the drinks I ordered was a latte and it was really sour. I suspected that the milk was spoiled. At first I thought it was the coffee or the syrups but every sip was just really bad. I tried calling the place twice to let them know that their milk was possibly expired and to check it. They didn't answer. I am leaving a review in hope they see it and be more aware that their products are expired. If they aren't and thats just the taste of drink, I wont order it again then I believe I ordered the zebra latte (I'll be honest I forgot lol). read more

If you either like, love, or just enjoy Ube (taro) occassionally...Cafe 86 is where you need to go! I think I can speak for the Fil-Am community, and say that we go nuts over Ube. Halo-Halo is our staple dessert! and their Halo-Halo is sooooo yummy. I practically ordered each dessert they had on display just out of pure excitement and my love for cute desserts, especially if its colored Purple! The must have's: The infamous Ube Flan Cupcakes, Ube bread pudding, Ube Crack Cheescake, & Ube Butter Bar (sounds like the whole menu). It's that good. Just note, Cafe86 does not always have the same menu each day. I believe I came in on a late Sunday night and wanted to try their Ube Tres Leches... but sadly, they serve it on a weekday? (forget when). So if you are looking for a specific item, I'd call ahead to make sure they have it in stock that day. Stopped by Cafe 86 w/ a specific craving for ube. Here's my purple haul from favorites to least: 1. Ube Butter Bar (10/10) - when you crave ube, you're thinking of the consistency and taste found in their butter bar. Don't leave without ordering this. 2. Ube Crack Cheesecake (9/10) - awesome combination of creamy and crunchy from the crust. I read a review say it's made from skyflakes crackers? Even better! 3. Turon Pop Tart (9/10) - wow, I didn't expect to love this flakey pastry as much as I did. I only wish they had the ube flavor available. 4. Ube Madeleine (8/10) - absolutely delicious but TOO sweet for my liking. 5. Ube Leche Flan Cupcake (7/10) - Cafe 86's aesthetic. The hype may be reason for its lackluster flavor. Cafe 86 - Ube butter bar is the real MVP - Desserts Near Me - Las Vegas, Nevada

Not a huge fan of Ube but my sister was in town and we were looking for a place to have dessert after our dim sum brunch. Heard of this place so decided to give it a try. As soon as you walk in, I was overwhelmed with the Ube desserts on display, the first section had the refrigerated desserts, the second section had the dry pastries/cookies and the last section by the cash register had the drink menu posted with lots of varieties and drink flavors. Me, being someone who has a hard time with options of course had a hard time trying to decide on what to order. Since I was already full from lunch we decided to each order something different so we can try 2 different things. She ordered the Ube Butterbar (recommended from yelp reviews and the employee) and i went with the leche flan ube cupcake. I also ordered the ube latte since I've never seen anything like that before on the menu, but was concerned with everything being overly sweet. When I asked the cashier about the sweetness, she advised me that the latte isn't too sweet but offered to remake if I thought it was. Luckily it was just right and a remake wasn't needed! For someone who doesn't love Ube, I really liked this place, would definitely like to try more things on the menu and would definitely recommended for an after brunch or after dinner spot for desserts and coffee!
