I took a recommendation from the helpful cashier, an older man. Today I tried the walnut chicken salad sandwhich on multigrain. The food came out fast and everything was fresh. Beside the sandwhich was a small cream puff and a few fresh grapes. Everything was delicious. I will come again when I am on this side of town. They don't have a ton of outlets which is a little upsetting but I made it work, they also closed earlier than they had online which sucks. But this was a good chicken salad sandwich! I would 100% get this again, also loved the criossiant bread! A cute bistro in the Vinings Jubilee shopping center. I don't really make it to this part of the metro very often, but this area is rife with summer camp opportunities for the kids, you know. Anyway, I was poking around and needed a snack. Inside, there's a nice and shady dining room that is a welcome respite from the blazing Georgia sun. If desired, you can sit outside under some shady umbrellas. It's quiet and peaceful. Ordering happens at the bar, and they bring it out to your table pretty quickly, I noticed. Service is cogenial. There seemed to be a good bunch of regulars in the place, considering the tone of overheard conversations. The menu is friendly and on the lighter, brunchier side of things. I ordered an avocado toast, which came out with a side salad, pickled onions, everything bagel seasoning, and some kind of soy-based dressing. As an extra, I ordered the seared tuna to adorn the whole thing. It was maybe 20 bucks with a soda. So, I really like avocado toast and I make it myself sometimes. I'm a millenial, sue me. But mine is now officially boring after tasting this recipe. It's a really solid item, and I would return to Pharr just to eat this item. First time coming to this cafe and unfortunately it was very underwhelming experience for the price of the food. The positives were I was able to order quickly with no line, the porch and cafe interior are nice. The quality of the roast beef for what I could taste was good. They give you two little yogurt rolls that were good. The guy that helped me was nice. Improvement wise, my spinach wrap that was an upgrade option from a roast beef sandwich consisted of one slice of roast beef, a LOT of lettuce and a half sliced tomato. That was it. Traditionally, I expect more meat and maybe throw in some cheese with a pickle. I think the price of the wrap was not a match. $10.99 was entirely too expensive for what was received. The person behind the cash register was not wearing a mask at all so may want to either change the Covid guidelines listed or have employees wear the mask. The business got its name from the original location in Buckhead on Pharr Rd. This review is for the Vinings location, found inside the Vinings Jubilee shopping district (same shopping center with La Paz, Mellow Mushroom, Another Broken Egg Cafe). Cafe at Pharr is a lunch place. Most locations close in the afternoon. This Vinings location stays open the latest, until 6pm, Monday through Saturday. The restaurant is closed Sundays. The restaurant is small and casual. There's a bar in the center of the dining space and seating consists of a mixture of regular and high-top tables. Clean and contemporary environment. Big windows allow natural sunlight to fill most of the interior and photos of Atlanta serve as decor along one of the walls. I like the simple menu. The specialties are salads and sandwiches, and they have soups too. The most popular item at Cafe at Pharr is the walnut chicken salad. If it's your first time, ask for samples. They'll bring various salads out in sample cups for you to try. Most sandwiches are priced at $7.50 each and most salad plates $9.00 each. There are several different bread choices (white, wheat, multigrain, baguette, croissant) and all entrees come with red grapes and housemade yogurt rolls. Take-out is a popular option. I've tried a handful of salads including: Walnut chicken salad Celery chicken salad Curry chicken salad Tuna salad They're all good, so it's hard to go wrong. The chicken salads are made with all-white meat chicken. The walnut chicken salad contains crushed walnuts and golden raisins. The celery chicken salad contains celery and mayo -- a very traditional chicken salad. The curry chicken salad is the most flavorful of the lot and perhaps my favorite, but only by a hair. It's subtly spicy. The tuna salad is similar to the celery chicken salad. It's another classic tasting salad. If you order a sandwich, I recommend it on white bread or in a croissant. The croissant bread is tasty -- soft, flaky, and buttery. Speaking of croissants, Cafe at Pharr's yogurt rolls are made with leftover croissant dough. The yogurt rolls are essentially croissants filled with a semi-sweet, creamy yogurt. They are delectable and something the restaurant is known for. I prefer the salad plates, which are just as filling as the sandwiches. Only one dressing comes with the salads and it's a housemade ginger dressing, which is served on the side in a neat little pour cup. The dressing is light and vinegary and contains tiny seeds. The salad itself comes with fresh, crisp lettuce, shredded carrots, and slices or ripe tomato. Along with the aforementioned grapes and yogurt roll, a slice of bread is included too. If you like soup, try one of their soups of the day. I've tried the tomato soup and it is fantastic. It's a little bit creamy, which I like, and full of flavor. The chicken noodle soup, with shredded chicken, looks pretty good too. Service is excellent. All in all, I'm a fan of Cafe at Pharr's Vinings location. Ordered delivery during the pandemic and the food arrived fresh and prepared perfectly. The meat on the sandwiches was real turkey not the pressed kind you find at cheap sandwich shops. They included these cute and yummy pastry rolls free of charge and the side order of grapes were all fresh and ripe. As for the Uber Eats delivery it was on time and easy. The food was so good a nice change from fried. We will order again. Update 4/17/2020: We were going to order sandwiches from a certain bagel shop but then we were informed the bagel shop was out of Turkey?! Remembering we had a good experience here we quickly changed our order to get Turkey club sandwiches from Cafe at Pharr. They arrived ahead of schedule and as ordered. Ok. Put a plate of greens and veggies in front of me and then a nice, healthy helping of incredible chicken salad and I'll be your best friend. Cafe at Pharr has some of the most simplistically executed recipes and iterations of chicken salad(s) that I've had, but they are so perfectly simple and delicious. Came in for lunch and started with a cup of the chicken noodle soup. It only comes in one size, just so you know you don't have to choose between a cup, bowl, jug, whatever. It was pretty textbook. Nothing too far out of the ordinary, weird, complicated, etc. It's just hearty chicken noodle, brosef. Then, the salad plate. Greens, carrots, grapes, tomatoes, and some of the tastiest curry chicken salad I've ever had. The chicken salad is so fine, but still retaining thickness, that it's spreadable. It's creamy, but not in a gross way like some chicken salads are -- AKA they don't go overboard with mayo. To add onto this flavor train, the dressing they give you on the side is rather magical. It's a semi-sweet, ginger dressing. I can't put my finger on the entire flavor profile, but it is perfect. I used it in moderation to not overpower any of the other flavors, but man they do it right. I can see that working on a multitude of dishes. I'm really digging Cafe at Pharr. It's a healthy choice and they do one of my favorite things perfectly. Well done, folks. Keep it coming. read more

I am a bit disappointed with my visit. I had been wanting to visit this spot since I heard they made a pretty good tuna salad. Visited the location on 8/22. Went in to order their tuna salad and apple juice for takeout. Arrived around 10:45 am to beat the crowd. Note: Their hours are 10 am - 3 pm. There was just one other customer and myself. I am not sure if that customer threw them off because he was so load on his cell phone and had a large order. Three workers were packaging his order. Instead of just finishing up with the guy, they brought my order out in the mist of their chaos. I checked my order which I was assuming was correct. They had the salad and had the scoop of salad in a small cup on the side. By the time I got home and tasted the salad, it was actually chicken salad with celery; of course, the similarities in the tuna and chicken salad look the same until you taste it. There should have been no reason my order should have been wrong and no reason why three employees needed to be trying to work on that guys order. Multi tasking causes unnecessary errors like this. I live too far away to turn around and get my correct order. So disappointing. What might help in the future if they actually label the containers to prevent a mistake since they only make salad. HORRIBLE experience!!! I met my friend for a lunch meeting and we were excited to see each other so we didn't order right away. We kept getting asked if we wanted to order but in a very pushy way. We were sitting outside and then came inside to sit because it got windy. The Korean woman came up to us and said in an extremely rude tone "Are you going to order food Because this is NOT a coffee shop!" I could not believe the way she spoke to us, I was in shock. This is the newest location they just added and I was super excited because this is much closer then the Buckhead and Brookhaven locations. It's located in a cute little shopping center in Vinings and it's walking distance to lots of good shopping so that's always a plus in my opinion. Eating and Shopping..my 2 favorite things! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and if you are not satisfied with anything, they will def go out of their way to help you. My fav thing is their Curry Chicken Salad sandwich here! I was blown away by the first 2 negative reviews but I guess everyone is entitled to their on opinions. Yes, the Chicken Salad is not like traditional Chicken Salad some people may be used to. It's made with shredded chicken rather then chunks and the mayo flavoring is not so extreme which i like. Nothing worse then a chicken salad made with too much mayo...yuck! You get the option of white, wheat, multigrain, baguette, or croissant. I love that they give you this many options rather then just the normal white bread. It also comes with grapes and their infamous YOGURT ROLLS which i could probably eat as my whole meal. Besides sandwich's they also offer other items on their menu such as salads, rice plates and soups. Overall i give this place a 5 star because it meets all my requirements for a good dining experience. The food was decent for a small cafe, but this business is clearly having some growing pains with their new location in Vinings. The chicken salad was advertised as their specialty and it was admittedly pretty good. I had the walnut chicken salad on a croissant and my girlfriend had the curry chicken salad on white. The chicken was shredded instead of in chunks like I normally prefer my chicken salad to be, but both sandwiched were seasoned very well. The bread was good and the sandwiches came with just tomato and lettuce, which was was appropriate. The sandwiches also come with yogurt rolls which were surprisingly good. The indoor dining was very loud because there were no ceiling tiles or curtains to absorb noise. There were only a few other people there but it was difficult to have a conversation. To make matters worse, our waitress was dragging chairs around and sweeping while we were still eating our lunch. Not only should she have waited for us to leave to begin sweeping, but she could have at least lifted the chairs. When we were done eating and were the only customers still there we had to go and find her to pay for our food and get a box. If we were supposed to pay for our food at the to go register on our way out it was never made clear to me and I was annoyed. I'll probably go back to get another chicken salad sandwich sometime, but it will definitely be takeout. read more

I'm sorry, so sorry but I have three words for those of you that are deciding on where to eat in this area: "Don't come here". I'm not one to be judgmental, but you are better off getting food from the gas station than come here. It's a nice, breezy Thursday and rather than frequent our normal Burger/Pizza/Mexican joint, we decided to give this place a shot. We know that it had a dismal 3 1/2 stars and gave the reviewers the benefit of the doubt, but for some reason we went against our instinct and decided to see what it was all about. After briefly walking into Paces and Vine where the manager was talking to a former employee about a paycheck (tacky, extremely tacky) we walked out and wondered what else this melodrama would take us. It was a memorable experience and one that I know we will never, ever forget. At approximately 1:30pm we walked into Cafe at Pharr and were met with a stench of musty bacteria meets mold. It was a disgusting odor that should have signaled, "Where was your last Restaurant Inspection" or "Have you had a flood in a bathroom that hasn't been cleaned since Hurricane Katrina?". It made me think of really old and decrepit buildings that you see in condemned houses when you watch those scary shows on ABC but we decided to still, proceed at caution. The waitress met us with complete and utter shock. I think that she was surprised that there were two people that showed up during her shift that wanted to be fed and rather than leading us to a table outside, she shouted a question at my husband and I. I couldn't make out what she wanted to know but my husband translated it into coherent English, "Drink, drink?". I thought that you normally sit down before you are asked for a drink - this is going to be a long lunch. We sat outside next to two other ladies that seemed to only order drinks of the non-alcoholic kind. After our waitress brought us water, she asked if we were ready to order. After looking at the menu for two minutes I asked her if I could have some coffee and she had to "ask" if I could have coffee. (I didn't know that coffee was a binary option - you should have it on your menu, You are a Cafe, correct?) She discouraged me from ordering Curry but I ordered it anyways and my husband had a Waldorf Chicken Sandwich on Cracked Up Wheat. He looked really sad as he removed the crust and said, "I wish that they could have at least toasted the bread for a second so that it gives me the illusion that they baked it." I've worked in a bakery, so I know what he means. I'm sorry, Cafe at Pharr was far from my expectations. When I think of cafes, I think of a serious coffee habit that many Europeans and Asians have with coffee and the most delicious pastry or sandwich that you can put your hands over. I've enjoyed great food at the most modest places in Europe and the Pacific, and maybe my standards are a bit too, far fetched. But don't charge someone money to eat in a place that feels as if it is about to have a remediation crew come in and change out the flooring for mold. I have to classify Café at Pharr as one of those places I just don't get. I've been 3 or 4 times now over a couple years, and I've never had anything that makes me want to go back. I just don't get the popularity. It's not bad, it's just kind of "blah." The sandwiches are tiny (I can easily knock out two sandwiches as a meal), and the chicken salads are decidedly average. I generally love curry chicken salads, and while Café at Pharr's isn't bad, I think I've enjoyed the curry chicken salad at pretty much every other restaurant I've had it more. I also tried the chicken noodle soup today, and it was pretty bland, which has been my experience here in general. I will say, the croissants are quite good and the little yogurt roll dessert things you get with each sandwich are a nice touch. But when chicken salad is your specialty, and it's not any better than a typical chicken salad at a neighborhood get-together...well, enough said. But, given their popularity, my opinion appears to be in the minority. read more

All the buckhead bettys at the Peachtree Rd location obviously are on a diet and don't care about this....but everyone else does! I know they do a lot of business at that location but I think the owners would do a lot better at all locations if they either brought the price down a couple bucks or at least gave you 25% more food.
