I used to eat at the Nordstrom cafe in Chicago almost every day when I worked near there years ago. Fast forward to now visiting this location in Miami's Aventura Mall and wow, they do not meet the bar set by the Chicago location. Bowl of tomato soup was really hot (temp wise) and a bit thick (probably because it was sitting in a heated pot all day). My salmon salad was so disappointing. The salmon was so dry, the lettuce drenched in too much dressing, the potatoes burnt, shriveled, and bitter. They charged $4 for a small bottle of water!! I paid $40 for a little soup, a piece of salmon (which was the only part of the salad I could eat), and water. That's highway robbery. I could have had something nice at a sit-down restaurant for that price! Waitress was a sweetheart though, but don't come here expecting a cheap or good lunch. Kind of a weird system where you purchase at counter first and then sit down but it was convenient where I could just leave and not have to wait for the server to bring me the check. I'm really disappointed with my recent experience at the Nordstrom Café. I was charged an extra $1.50 for an additional salad dressing--yet the first container wasn't even filled halfway. It feels unreasonable to pay extra when the original portion isn't a full serving to begin with. AMAZING!!! Food was beyond anything i've ever had before. Crazy menu, there is anything you can think of. They even have the viral dubai chocolate PANCAKE which I thought was amazing. I got the croissant and my boyfriend got the BLT. Both amazing, and their orange juice is super fresh and amazing. The service was great, they were super busy so it took a little longer but the whole place is extremely entertaining. Plants everywhere, colorful, it looks like a jungle almost. I love it. We decided to return to Cafe Bistro and I am glad I did. I ordered fresh lemonade and was told that it was pretty sweet. It was recommended to me that I haven't watered down. This was good advice because the lemonade turned out to be just the right amount of sweetness for me. I ordered my beloved french onion soup which was just as good as ever. The cheese was perfect shot! I really like the bread they put in the soup. It stays pretty solid yet of course soggy, but does not fall apart like it does at some other restaurants. Today I ordered the Pomme Frits chicken. I am sure I am butchering the spelling but that is what it sounded like when the name of it was repeated to me. This chicken is just as good as it looks. It is seasoned just right with a little bit of bold spicing and marinated nicely. This piece of chicken was so huge that I had to take home some. I'm conflicted writing this review because I went while sick so I can't speak much to the flavor of things, BUT i'll comment on the place itself. It's my first time even hearing about this cafe, so I popped in for a small bite: crab bisque. My cousin ordered the bread pudding - she lives by it. As I said, I was sick, but from the little I could tell, the soup was really good! Had a good spice to it, and I could see / feel the chunks of crab. As for the restaurant itself, very cute and looks high end. You order at the front, and are then sat. This is where it gets confusing. After ordering and paying we were taken to our table where a server came by to greet us and look at our order (from the receipt on the table). He brought out waters and later brought our dishes. At the end he presented us with our check (which, again, we had already paid at the front) with a smiley face and a note that read "thanks, chris." I felt very uncomfortable because I like to tip well, but I did not have any cash on me! I hope Nordstrom pays them well because I doubt they get many tips. It's unfair to them, and unfair to the customers as well as they feel as guilty as I did. I wish the concept would have been explained better - either do it all up front and include a gratuity option, or pay at the end of the meal like in a sit down restaurant. read more

Getting down to the nitty gritty, it's just not the same Cafe Bistro I've visited before. While the food itself was decent to good, none of the flavors blew my mind. I ordered a salad with chicken, which was well over-cooked and dry. The Margherita pizza was lackluster, not even close to other thin crust pizzas I've tried. The only reason I'm giving 3 stars is because of their desserts; their white chocolate bread pudding hasn't changed one bit. It's still as delicious as my very first visit years ago. For the price, I expect more in all aspects, food as is service. My experience wasn't horrible, but it definitely was not memorable. read more

My daughter and I were frequent customers before covid, and have been now twice since. The first time back was about two months ago and was wonderful. Everything was a 10/10. We always love the Cilantro Lime salad with shrimp and couldn't wait to come again. Yesterday, my daughter and I went again while walking around the mall and were craving that salad like crazy. While sitting and waiting for around 30 mins for the food to come, Luis who was our amazing server, apologized for the food taking so long and offered us soup or bread while we waited. The salads came and the shrimp in it still had the feces track in them which is awful and totally ruined our appetite. Luis offered us something else which we got the French Dip and the Turkey club which were okay, but we were weren't even very hungry after seeing the shrimp like that. Then we had some coffee which ended up having a gnat in it. Update: the restaurant manager Jorge called me and apologized for the experience yesterday. I have changed my stars rating from 1 star to 3 stars because of how impressed I was with the call from Jorge and Luis as a server overall. Hopefully when we come back to try again, it is as good as it used to be. read more

I'm shocked that I haven't reviewed this place because I eat here so often. Nordstrom Cafe Bistro is my favorite place in Aventura mall besides shake shack. Food here has reasonable prices and always really good. I love the pizza here, it's so if you don't know what to get, crab bisque and pizza is always a good choice. They have amazing desserts as well - try the bread pudding. Yesterday, I got the seasonal stuff which was the roasted squash soup, French onion soup, and seasonal dessert. Full of flavor and decent portions. The cheese grits was on point and made from scratch. My friend had the French toast and potatoes, which he rated it a 9/10. Yeap, this is a pretty trendy and discrete little bistro restaurant on the second floor of Nordstrom by the woman's department. What you need to know before you go: you have to order with the cashier before they will seat you. As they explained this is to make service more express, but once you are seated, you can always add to your order. I've been here twice now and I've had good service both times. On my first visit, I tried the Turkey Cranberry Sandwich which was not bad and the fries that came with it were pretty darn good. I also tried a cup of the Bistro Crab Bisque soup - that was delicious! I returned for a second visit just because I could not get that crab bisque out of my head. I ordered a bowl the second time around for a larger quantity of its greatness... It's so good! I had room for dessert so I tried the white chocolate bread pudding and although it was good, it wasn't good enough for me to order it again in the future. Trying it once was enough. read more

But today's meal was a shock, they didn't clean my shrimps for the shrimp cilantro salad... gross apart from the guts I uploaded a picture of the shell still not removed. Normally service is good but our server Michael was rude and impatient. I had the crab bisque and the Nicoise salad and they were both quite good... the soup is thick and creamy... I used to really enjoy this place but on a recent visit, it left my opinion so skewed that I'll never return for now. The food quality and service has dropped from when I started going to frequently. You'd think that by being a regular they'd give you some acknowledgement and offer at least good service. Not only that...but it seems like they're all so confused to who takes your table and who your server is. Well, you don't even have a server to begin with so who knows who's supposed to take care of you. I am Team Cafe Bistró but I can tell you that the service has really declined in the past few years. I arrived with my family and the young lady behind the register just seemed upset. No good evening, not a hello, nothing. Made no attempt to be friendly, maybe she was having a tough night. Now to the service, my cilantro lime shrimp salad arrived , no shrimp. My husband was served the wrong soup but served after he mentioned he ordered a soup and my niece's hot fudge brownie .. was cold. I had the bistro club- and the chicken was a little dry, and bread was so hard i almost cut my mouth! The fries the sandwiches come w/ are amazing! Perfectly cooked, and tossed with herbs and spices. So I've eaten here before but decided to review based on this visit. I ordered my favorite sandwich, the citrus turkey with cranberry chutney. I added bacon for an extra charge. It was delicious as usual, however the last time there I remember it had a bit more turkey in it. It was fine because I had the side of fries with the really yummy olive aioli. Service was excellent, my server kept refills coming consistently for my Diet Coke. I wish the Boca location had this sandwich on the menu, I would probably go there more often if that was the case. Been coming here for years, and today we just had the most underwhelming experience at the Aventura Mall location. Service was simply terrible. Our waiter couldn't care less. Or food did not come out in the order it was supposed to. Instead of carefully placing the plates on the table our server almost dropped them. We did not have enough napkins or even utensils. He even ran by saying "how's everything?" But by the time the sentence was finished he was already 10 feet away. I did not mind the continuous shrinking of the portions throughout the years, I was even willing to ignore the fact that they even cut on the amount of crostinis you get with the crab bisque, but it's too much when it's all combined. The woman taking my order was nice and efficient. They could not serve me the Cilantro salad because they were out of cilantro and the table I was to be seated at was dirty and had to be cleaned. The lettuce on the salad I ordered was brown, shriveled and had spots on them and the pizza I ordered as a replacement item was greasy, had no sauce and zero taste! The crab bisque was good but the side order of fries came out luke warm. I watched helplessly as the people who ordered after me, received their food before me and the entire experience was so disappointing, as I traveled over 50 minutes just to eat at this Nordstrom. I have even met Cafe Bistro before and liked it a little bit better the other times. This time I give it a solid 3 stars because my steak was very, very overcooked. It was so tough. I have been here several different times for a variety of occasions. From just a coffee, breakfast, business lunch, dinner with the gals, to family affairs, this restaurant will suit each occasion. The service at the front of the cafe is always pleasant but I have had a few shabby servers. Even the worst server was compensated by pleasant team work from one of their co-workers. The pizzas are good, just make sure they do not over cook them. The desserts are to die for, especially the white chocolate bread pudding! The crab bisque is good as well and if you're just feeling like a snack they have a wonderful item on the kid's menu with whole wheat crackers, a variety of cheeses, grapes, and strawberries.
