Can't beleive I haven't written a review for this place yet, it's simply amazing! They have delicous indian food thats actually fresh. Their naans are huge and the perfect combination to any dish. I love getting their Tikka Masala Curry which comes with plenty of chicken and the Palak Paneer dish. Both are fingerlicking delicous and even come with a free side of basmatic rice. Most places in Bellevue will always charge extra for rice so this is a plus for me! The service is always fast and doesnt take longer then 20mins usually. I love ordering to go as well and love that they're open late. Last August, I also ordered catering from them for my wedding that was at my house and they were so professional and had us do a food tasting at the restaurant and made everything to perfection and delivered too! Food was gross. The chicken was rotten. It looked red from the outside but was black and goopy on the inside. Although I'm kinda sick from eating it, atleast I was fed. And unlike others I didn't have to wait in line for 2 hours for a single order. So not complaining there. The staff however was the worst part. Rude, shady and just plain pathetic. The customers were also very shady and were fighting for seats. But then again that's just expected. If you are sensitive to rotten food or are quick to notice the taste, please avoid Cafe Bollywood. The only good thing about this place is the name and that's about it. If at any point you feel like getting up and walking over to Garlic Crush, DO IT! I learned that the hard way. We went here on a busy friday night for dinner with some friends who have been here a few times in the past and had liked it the first couple of times but were kind of on the edge after that. I was excited to go since I'd read all the great reviews and I was on the lookout for a genuine Indian place after all these years. Although it is genuine, there's a few things I wish they would pay attention to and improve on. We ordered Seekh Kebabs and tandoori chicken for appetizers, Naans and Murg Handi Lazeez and a Mutton Biryani. Also started off with the mango and masala lassis which were both great. The biryani came first which was kind of odd. We saw them take out a pre-portioned container and nuke it up before serving it on a plate. I was kind of disappointed because the fridge plus microwave combination just ruins the texture of the rice and the meat. The flavor was actually quite nice; a little heavy on the whole garam masalas to the point of being overbearing but still manageable with those hints of rose water notes coming through. I just wish it had been fresh and not re-heated. Then came the Naans and the Murg Handi Lazeez. They forgot to add butter on the butter naans but since there was a queue at the counter and we were hungry we decided to not pursue it. The naans and curry were both quite nice. The chicken was tender and perfectly cooked, the curry was nicely spiced and the combination was authentic. Finally they brought out the appetizers. By this point we were already quite full. This is a shame because packing leftover curry or maybe even biryani is ok but you can't really pack kebabs. It kills them. So bringing them out in the end was a bit of a disappointment. The chicken was quite nice, a little more of a char would have helped with the tandoori flavor but overall not too bad. The Seekh Kebabs on the other hand were extremely dry and very over-cooked. It almost felt like we were eating powdery chalk. It's unfortunate because they smelled and tasted quite nice but were completely destroyed by extreme over-cooking. Overall the food has the potential to be great but just kept missing the mark. The portions are solid, you have the option to pick a large or small portion and the prices are fair. If they pay a little more attention to detail in terms of both the service and the food, I think they have a lot of potential. Although this wasn't the best experience, I would like to try them out again some day and hopefully things will be better. read more

Cafe Bollywood used to be my go-to for Indian food on the East Side, but the quality has taken a turn for the worse. I went in a couple weeks ago and ordered my usual - chicken tikka masala, malai kofta, romali roti and garlic naan. Even though we ordered the large tikka masala, there were barely enough pieces of chicken for a group of 2-3 to have a serving each. The portion sizes used to be much more generous. The curry was alright. The kofta used to be slightly crisp with discernible flavors and textures on the inside. This time, it was quite literally a ball of grey-beige mush that fell apart in the curry. Tasted like nothing at all. The malai curry was also quite bland. The naan and roti were both good. To top it all off, the usual friendly face at the register was replaced by someone who looked as if he hated the cafe and all it's customers. Even the kitchen staff were quite rude, huffing and snapping when customers tried to grab extra plates or napkins. None of the tables were wiped off and we had to do it on our own. I understand self-serve, but this was pushing it. I'll probably give this place one more try since my experience was so different in the past...just not any time soon. read more

They are extremely busy over the weekends post 8pm , so to-go orders mean at least 30-45 minutes wait. Tried this place based on the good Yelp reviews and it wasn't disappointing. It's more of a take out place with a few tables inside. Very casual. We chose to eat there and ordered a chicken kadhai, achari paneer tikka and some butter naan. The panner tikka was surprisingly good and the chicken was above average but a little too salty. They do serve everything in styrofoam and plastic containers which almost made me knock a star off :( We were happy to see Thumbs Up (Indian cola owned by Coke) but $3 for a can is a little nuts. All in all I would come back to try some other stuff and I hear it's open late which is great. read more

I just had one time at this place and it seems to be fine. I went there to be blown over especially seeing all the stellar reviews. I would say its more closer to a 3.5 in my opinion. So I guess I need to go back there a few more times to really make up my mind. And that I will definitely do as I stay pretty close by. There was nothing standout among the options that I tried. The Chicken 65 ( i believe) was really good and the combos were ok. I would next time onwards take the entree instead of the combo. That will give me a better idea. Its great to have an indian place right in downtown bellevue. That is one thing that I have missed all these years living in downtown. So hope it keeps getting better. New favorite Indian place in Bellevue! The restaurant itself is quite small, they had just about enough seating for people coming and going. I came around dinner time which was around 7pm and they were quite busy. The process for ordering was a bit un-intuitive since they didn't have menus up anywhere, just the piece of paper in front of the cashier. It took about 35min to get our to-go order, though I don't mind waiting because the food was delicious. The tandoori chicken was excellent. Super flavorful, and everything I dreamed of. The palek paneer was not bad, more on the creamy side. The tikka masala was quite good, decent amount of chicken inside the curry. Overall, it is more on the pricier side of things considering the utensils/service they provide but I will definitely come back to try more dishes. They are also open late! That said, this place doesn't have veg biryani, and my friends tell me that the chicken biryani sold here is ajwaini and hence contains rose water, so if you are looking for dum biryani check with them before you leave order. Just had a really yummy meal at Café Bollywood! We had the Achari Paneer Tikka, Murg Handi Lazeez, Daal Tadka, and garlic Naan. Everything was delicious! Full points for the food, really. Their kitchen was super busy with a bazillion take out orders though, so our food did take longer than usual to arrive. Next time though, we'd probably do take out too. Also the people were very nice and friendly. We needed more Naan bread while we were eating- they brought us a fresh and hot Naan within seconds (despite the busy kitchen), and asked us to pay after we were finished eating. The food is terrible. They put no effort into making anything the serve. I got a veggie main dish and the vegetables were not even cooked. Just absolutely terrible for the outrageous price they charge you for it. They are literally robbing you blind! We had a wide assortment of dishes across two days. And each time the dishes were finger licking good. On the first day we ordered lamb chops, salmon tikka and biryani. The lamb chops were tender juicy and marinated to perfection. The salmon tikka was unique and extremely delicious. The biryani was one of the better ones we have had in the greater Seattle area. On the second day we ordered the Calcutta style Chicken Chaap. Let's just say it was "out of this world". Tip: Have this with a laccha paraatha. You need to pre-order by Friday 2PM for a Saturday eat in or pick up. But it's totally worth it! We also had the Dal Makhni and it was very delicious. To give you an idea of the kind of spice/food I like, I am from Mumbai and like spicy and masaledar food!. One of the best indian food I have had in US. Specially the evening snacks like wada pav, chhole bhature, dahi puri. We also tried Chicken 65 and Lamb Sukha (4/5 spice) both of them were mind blowing. I also tried the lunch combo, but wasnt much impressed, but I wont rate them low for that, coz they easily make up by the above items :) Even the Garlic butter naan was good. I am Cafe Bollywood's biggest fan. I have probably ordered their Chicken Tikka Masala about two or three dozen times so far (lost count...) It is by far my favorite dish/meal/food of all-time, and the best chicken tikka I've had so far in all of Seattle/Bellevue area. It is heavenly, creamy, DELICIOUS. Ecstasy to my taste-buds. I order their amazing raita yogurt sauce on the side, as I feel it really kicks the whole experience up a notch. Their naan is very fluffy, almost like a pancake, without all the grease I've come to expect from most Indian restaurants. I really cannot stress how much I love their curry. I've also sampled some of their other food options, and they've always been fantastic. When the time comes where I have to move away from Bellevue, Cafe Bollywood is the only thing I'd truly miss. Also, staff are very nice and due to some order malfunctions, have always accommodated me for the inconvenience. 10/10 read more

If you're looking for great Indian food in Bellevue, this is NOT even close to your best option. We had the rumali roti (white flour, chewy not soft), okra (old stringy), paneer tikka masala (very greasy but decent), daal tarka (tasted old). All the food was overly spiced and didn't taste fresh. Our tummies feel heavy and not good after leaving. Worst part of it all was the shit spackled, eewwwewwwww bathroom. So gross!! Oh and a whole colony of flies had settled in. Service was decent.
