Service was just bad, contacted because our table was supposedly ready. We went up waiting another 2025 minutes. The owner manager or server, not sure she was seem to be very scatterbrained. Food we hadn't been back to this place in over a year and now on this visit we remembered why. The food was just bad. My wife had something that they called grits, but it was really overwatered, mysterious and gruel. When she asked if she got grits or oatmeal the scatterbrain server manager person said oh that's our oatmeal.. so oatmeal is gruel. The eggs were slimy undercooked and the bacon was half burned and slightly raw on the other end not sure how this was accomplished. Ambience the bathrooms are science experiment and truly dirty, the chair I said was falling apart. The vinyl was peeling around my hands as I adjusted where I was sitting. The furniture seems to be slightly outdated and repair. We will be back we can say that this is our daughter last year at BAYLOR so there's no need to make a return visit . read more

Finally found a place I can call breakfast home. They open early that is important to me and have a great menu. Service 5 start, selection 5 star, taste 5 star, and the price is not crazy hotel prices! If I had to find a not 5 star, I would say the coffee is a 4 star, but I am a coffee snob. Kids got chocolate chip pancakes and I have tried nearly everything on the menu. If in Waco and looking for sit down food. Highly recommend this place. read more

In Waco for the eclipse. The food was good. The pancakes are HUGE! The coffee was great. The wait... was a little long. There was a minor mix-up with the order, as we were seated at a table with other customers. Prices on the menu did not reflect the prices on the bill. For example, the menu price on the cappuccino I ordered was $5.99 but on the bill it was $7.99. They also charged an extra charge for scrambled egg whites. Probably a great place for college kids and their parents, but a little lackluster for my taste. Food was good though, regardless. read more

I had the Mexican Mash. It was average. It came with a pancake or a piece of toast. My pancake was undercooked and not hot enough to melt butter. My Diet Coke was not carbonated enough, so overall it was just a so-so experience. Others in my group got pancakes that were golden brown and melted butter. I guess I just drew the short straw. I am not a coffee drinker but my husband enjoyed their house coffee, but the menu is loaded with coffee and hot tea options. Recommendation for the Mexican Mash: Instead of "home fries" which were small cubed boiled potatoes, serve the dish using your hash browns which looked great on my friend's plates. Also, ground sausage browned would be much preferred over small cubed sausage pieces. The dish had a very unappetizing appearance. Why put the eggs on top? For my egg choice of scrambled, this was a weird choice. Service is slow, though friendly. I would not wait in line to eat here. read more

I've lived in Waco for 4 years and Cafe Cap has always been consistent. Service is great, not one thing on the menu is bad. Highly recommend the migas. The pancakes are huge. Can't go wrong with any meal. This place is a Waco staple and deserves a stop. read more

Quintessential Waco breakfast place. Got a chocolate chip pecan pancake which was fluffy and sweet. 2 eggs scrambled. The eggs looked funny. I eat scrambled eggs on a fairly regular basis for most of my life. I couldn't explain to you why they look the way they do here. They were cooked all the way. Certainly could have been seasoned better. 3 sausage links which were on par with other breakfast sausages I've had elsewhere in life. And some kind of mint latte which was warm and not too sweet. Never have I ever eaten lunch here the breakfast is sooo yummy. read more

Everytime I visit my kids at Baylor I request to come here for breakfast Unfortunately today will be my last time. The service was SO bad. There were so many workers standing and watching it was actually uncomfortable. Hostess said she'd be back to get drink order and never came back. I flagged down someone to get us some coffee. She eventually came over and said "oh was I supposed to come back it slipped my mind" Waiter finally came and we were ready to order. Very simple order. No special orders. It took forever. I get that it's a popular restaurant but it was 1:00 by the time we were seated and there were lots of empty tables. My husbands ham and cheese omelette was so pathetic. It looked like airplane food. I felt so bad for him. My pancake and bacon was delicious so I'm giving two stars but we all left the restaurant saying we had a good run here and never needed to go back. Also they add a service charge for credit:debit which is fine but I payed cash and still didn't remove the charge. I feel bad that my favorite breakfast spot really let me down. read more

I've been here multiple times and have enjoyed it every time. Parking: There is plenty of parking right outside. There are a couple cute Waco murals right outside as well. Interior: The decor is as you would expect for a breakfast/brunch cafe. There is more seating in the back area for larger groups, but I have a feeling they try to keep everyone in the front section. Service: Has always been above average every time I've been. Not superb with amazing waiters or anything but still good. Food: Their pancakes are huge. I will sometimes get two pancakes when I'm super hungry, but I always end up regretting it because the pancakes are so filling. Their other breakfast food is reasonably priced and tastes like typical breakfast food. Coffee: don't get it. This is the only real reason I knock a star off. All of their coffees are terrible and are NOT WORTH AT ALL. Nonetheless, most definitely worth a visit if you don't care too much about coffee with your breakfast/brunch. Their name is misleading. They do not make a proper cappuccino. Ordered my first cappuccino to go today. The barista put 1 shot of espresso into a 12 oz styrofoam cup and then proceeded to fill the cup with steamed milk!! Totally diluted the espresso flavor. I stopped her from completely filling the cup and had another shot added. It was still so diluted you could barely taste taste any espresso. Cappuccino should be 1 part espresso and 2-3 parts steamed milk depending on your taste. So sad read more

It's a really good place to eat, but I feel like something needs to be said. I had my baby shower there this morning, and the service was great, the food was great, the restaurant was clean. But when we were leaving my mom and aunts put some presents down on the table and I guess it made the woman who was cleaning angry. Because she looks and says, "Well these WERE clean." I honestly didn't think that the tables were dirty, it was just a few things and I was going to move them. So I said, "I think it's fine." She rolled her eyes and said, "Yeah for you!" I wasn't going to say anything, but my sister heard it and got pretty angry so she went to talk to the manager. They pretended to listen, but then as we were walking out they were just laughing and she was saying, "Oooohhhh are you going to fire me?" Not very good at all. I ordered bacon and cheese crepes. It was a crepe rolled up with a little shredded cheddar cheese and bacon shards. I love crunchy bacon but this bacon was so crunchy it had no flavor except grease and salt. There was a lot of bacon. I csn not stress enough how hard it was. There was nothing else in the crepe.
