The food is good but the customer service is terrible. Today we decided to give them one more chance and left before being seated as we watched the hostess and a manager talk rudely to customers. Quite possibly the worst service I've ever had in my life. Server came over once to take our order and that was the only time we saw her. She got the order wrong which I wasn't surprised about since she looked like she hated her job. The only good service was from the food runner who did more for us than our server. He was awesome. Will I went back today for a take out order I just needed a waffle with strawberries bananas or blueberries I called for 20 minutes while I drove there hoping to place my order always went to voicemail so when I got there I went in and ordered 3 to 4 people behind the counter so very busy they don't even say good morning when you walk in finally placed my order after about 5 to 7 minutes standing there watching them got my order around fifteen minutes to twenty later got my waffle no syrup and got melon for the fruit on top was not what I asked for. I realize you short staffed but come on people acknowledge people when they walk through your door so they know they're not being ignored believe me it will go a long way. read more

CHECK YOUR RECEIPT BEFORE YOU GIVE THE WAITSTAFF YOUR DEBIT OR CREDIT CARD. FRAUD, DECEPTIVE, OUT RIGHT DISHONEST. We ate breakfast here which was okay. My problem was not the food. It was just average, but we didnt expect perfection. After ordering we received our check, I looked over it to make sure everything was right. The check total stated 25.22. Okay, no problem. I give the waitress my debit card to pay. She comes back with my card and what I thought was the orginal receipt. Well, after looking at it, it wasnt. This new receipt said they charged by debit card $26 and change. So I looked at the receipt again. The new receipt has a charge of 98 cents for processing my debit card. Which we were not told about. Once I questioned them, they got huffy and wanted to try and loud talk me. Of course I got right back in their face. I explained to them that what they did was fraud and very deceptive. I demanded a manager, which they stated was not there. I explained to them I wanted my money for the processing fee back. They said they didnt have the authority to do that. My reply was, you have the authority to defraud me, but not give my money back. Which there reply was, if you you would have paid cash, we would not have charged you the processing fee. My reply was. You didnt tell me you had a processing fee, it was not on the receipt you gave me when you took and charged my card and it was not on the menu letting me know. They proceeded to give me the owners name and phone number, so I called him and voiced my disapproval of being defrauded by his business. His reply to me was, everyone charges a processing fee. Of course I let him know how wrong he was. I again ask for my money back, of which he stated "if you give them cash, i will credit your debit card", yeah I just laughed. I ask him how did he feel being caught lying and defrauding his customers. He stated, well i have a note on the front door. My husband went and took a photo of the small note, that no one would have read. I pointed out to him, that as a business owner myself, I dont expect my customer to have to read notes on my window or front door. I let him know that if he was going to charge extra money, he needed to inform his staff that they should tell the customer, it should be noted on the menu and have a table tent informing customers of this. Not to do a witch and bate on his customers. Any way, this clown has defrauded and cheated his customers for no telling how long. He has lined his pockets off of innoccent unsuspecting customers for a while. Look at this way, if he steals a $1 from 60 customers a day and they are opened 6 days a week, that is $360 a week times 52 weeks. Thats $18,720 a year times 2 locations. Money he has stolen from his customers. I pointed out to him, that credit card processing fees are a part of doing business and could be written off his taxes. This is also in regards to the other negative review from today. I actually witnessed those people leave the restaurant! I wish I had too. The workers weren't rude, they were fine and probably just overworked... but the manager! I have never seen someone treat people the way she did! I would be in a poor mood too if I had to work with her. I only waited about 10 minutes to be seated, and if you're familiar with the downtown location, you'll know that it's usually much longer on a Sunday! Here's why - this location's manager treats everyone horribly. If you hate your job that much - QUIT! I was standing in the small waiting area for a few minutes and a lady came in to pick up a to-go order. The manager rudely said she didn't have the order there, and the woman was confused and called whoever placed the order for her to pick up. The manager then said to the lady, in the rudest tone I've heard from a service worker, "I NEED to know the number you called. You obviously didn't call here cause we don't have it." And she waited with a smug look on her face while the lady was trying to find out. It took maybe 2 minutes to find out the number, but in the meantime, she just moved on to the next people waiting for a to-go order! When the lady told her the phone number, she just barked back, "That's the downtown location. You're going to have to go ALL the way downtown for your food. It's not here," then went back to the guest she had moved on to. That's when I witnessed at least two parties walk out. One party actually said, "let's go, the workers are just mean here." I was just shocked. I was sat not even a minute later and asked the hostess if that woman was the manager, and she said yes. I wish I had gotten the owner's number. Food tastes ok and they almost got my order right. Bacon is very crispy to the point of being unrecognizable. Coffee is very good. Sugar in the raw is on the table and you have to ask for cream. Flag someone down for refills too. It may take more than 1 try to get your refill. Staff is very brisk, and you are just another task on their list. Decor is trying really hard to be trendy and fun. Let me start by saying I have been going to Café Cap for several years... My wife and I walked in the door and were ignored for some time. Eventually a blonde woman (roughly in her mid 30's) asked if we where ordering to-go. This struck me as odd seeing as there where other people still sitting and eating and some that had yet to order. Anyways, she sits us at a booth and demands that we order or there would be no time to get food because they were "closing". I was completely unaware that we had come in 20 minutes before closing and have worked in the food industry myself and know how bothersome this situation can be, however, never in my life have I treated a customer poorly, told them to essentially order or get out, or offer EXTREMELY negative service because it was close to closing. I am quite off out by this whole incident. I know the service at Cafe Cap is usually sub-par but this takes the cake. I go to this place to enjoy the atmosphere, decent food, and conversation with others. I will never go here again due to the fact that a wait-staff disrespected me and my wife over the fact that we came in before the restaurant was closed. PISS POOR. The sad thing in the matter is, I generally tip very well (as previously stated, I've worked in food before), so I make sure my servers get a decent wage. Visited for the last time a couple of months ago. This was always a regular go-to for a group of ladies I meet for breakfast. The last time I went, one of the ladies ordered quiche. The quiche was terrible. Rubbery. Not at all like the other variety another lady at the table received. She tried to send it back and get the other one instead. The waitress told us the manager said she would have to buy the second quiche. I could understand if she had eaten the quiche. She had not. She had one bite and I had one bite. According to the waitress, this is an ongoing problem as she has to regularly manage unhappy customers and a manager with no customer service skills. Also, the manager is the owner's mom, so use complaining. I get it. Their business is good even with terrible customer service. However, at some point it may just catch up to them. read more

This place is so badly managed I am surprised it's open. We came Sunday and waited an hour and a half to sit down. Many people that came after us were seated before us. Took 30 minutes to get a drink order. When we did put in the drink order the little girl that does the drinks came to argue with us about how we ordered our drinks. One of the guys that works in the back was sitting in the booth beside us yelling for girls to bring him stuff. There was no manager in site . an hour later our food came out wrong.They are paying under age kids to work here and not supervising them so it's a big shit show. Complaints seem relatively similar across locations over the years. The food isn't wonderful but decent at best. The (management?) staff is generally rude. On our recent visit, while still finishing food on our plates and drinking coffee, with no lines of people waiting, empty tables, and not near closing, management was stopping by tables (ours and the one next to us) to prompt people it was time to leave. We (a quiet, pleasant party of 6) ignored this odd behavior, finished our meals and were finishing up our same cups of coffee - when management came by again about 30 minutes later and - yet again - prompted us to hurry up and leave. Completely unimpressed from the beginning of my dining experience. First of all the waitress seemed like she hated her job and wasn't knowledgeable at all of the menu. My drink was incorrect, my food was incorrect, and the chicken in the sandwich looked more like jerky. The waitress Diana was completely unapologetic and didn't offer to make any changes to my order or bill. When I asked my server to let the manager know that our food and experience was just not good she nodded and walked off. Worst experience ever. My family went in and stood at the "Please Wait To Be Seated" as several staff members passed us without a word spoken. After several minutes I noticed a steno-pad with names so I went over there where someone took my name. And the wait began--not unusual for a Sunday lunch period. Then we watched as several customers were treated with disdain, as if they were a nuisance to the wait staff. After the "hostess" was less than civil with one group of customers and someone who appeared to be a manager treated an elderly woman with contempt, we had enough. I don't know what some of these reviewers are used to eating. Maybe 20 or 30 years ago their food would pass but if I spend $9 on a breakfast entree, it needs to be up to "Egg & I" standards. I ordered a three egg omelette and was expecting a full plate of omelette ( I usually take half home with me when we eat out). My wife ordered a one egg scramble with hash browns and something else. We got our order and my omelette is the size of a taco and my wife's scramble had twice the amount of egg. The hash browns were trash, the "buttermilk pancake" must have been made with powdered buttermilk or something because that just made me mad that they don't care enough to cook with love. They charge enough to use fresh, real ingredients. This place is suited for kitchen nightmares. The place was nice and the coffee was good but for half the price go to jack in the box. Yummy, I will admit we did have to wait a while to get in and eat. BUT! It was Baylor's graduation and Mother's Day weekend. There is no where to eat that would not require a wait. You should have seen the line around McDonalds. We were a party of 12 and we were sat and served with precision and exactitude. The food was for the most part hot and good. The pancakes were the one item that arrived on the "warm" side instead of hot. This was evidenced by the butter (very yellow butter) that would not melt. Oh and the hot tea could have used a little help. If you are going to charge 2.25 for a cup of tea then please at least give me water at 212 or at least above 200. Wow. As other reviewers have noted, the service here is HORRIBLE. I'm pretty easygoing since I was a food server through college but man, these ladies were not here for it. The food was actually pretty good and decently priced but our waitress brought drinks, took our order, and never came back. A nice young man doing food running brought our food out and politely brought me some more butter when I asked him. The waitress never came by to see if our order was correct or if we needed anything else. I had to go find her to ask for a glass of ice for my tea (which was served to me with maybe two ice cubes in it). She acted annoyed that I came up front and had the nerve to ask her for something. When she came back by with our credit card and receipt after we flagged someone else down to pay, she literally dropped on the table without slowing down. No "can I get you anything else, did you need a to-go cup for your latte," nothing. Same thing when we left--we asked the girl up front (not our original server) for to-go cups and she seemed angry and took a good 4 minutes--yes, I counted on my watch--to pull two coffee cups and lids out of the stack. I don't know how these people stay open--it was 10 a.m. on the weekend and tons of empty tables. I'd go anywhere else over ever coming back here. 2 weekends in a row our order has been cancelled on uber eats. Was informed by our driver that our order was the third order today that had been cancelled by this restaurant. Last weekend our order had been accepted only to be told a hour later that it was cancelled due to the restaurant being closed (which it wasn't), we ordered earlier this weekend. Our first delivery driver called and told us that the restaurant told them it would be a hour wait, told them that was fine, we were not in a hurry, next driver then informed us that this restaurant does not take uber eat orders on the weekends. And was very sorry for the inconvenience, and that we were her 3rd order that this place had cancelled today. If they do not accept uber eat orders then DO NOT ACCEPT THE ORDERS WHEN THEY COME IN. This is terrible customer service. The last time we were in this establishment (Richland Drive) our server wasn't the best. But hey we were just glad they had servers. But after two weekends in a row of this craziness, nope. This will be another establishment that has lost a customer due to horrible customer service. This is very unfortunate and sad. read more
