After visiting Waco Mammoth National Monument, one of my friends headed off toward more baseball stadium adventures while another friend and I decided to grab breakfast before I flew back to reality later that evening. Thankfully, Yelp absolutely came through clutch (as it usually does) and led us to Our Breakfast Place. We intentionally tried to time things to beat the post-church crowd and I think we mostly succeeded... though there was still a little bit of a wait. Thankfully, this place is absolutely worth the wait! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was bustling and busy but still had a welcoming, comfortable atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The menu was extensive with tons of tempting breakfast options, the prices were very reasonable to me, and the service was excellent from start to finish. Our waitress was so kind and friendly and even the women seated nearby struck up conversation with us while we waited for our food. It just had that warm, community-oriented breakfast spot vibe. I ordered the blueberry lemon pancakes which were a seasonal special and wow, they were fantastic. Sweet but not overly so, fluffy, flavorful, and the combo also came with an egg and I chose two slices of bacon. All delicious and certainly plenty filling. The coffee was strong too, which I greatly appreciated. All in all, this was a five-star breakfast experience and the kind of local spot I love discovering while traveling. If I'm ever back in Waco, I'd happily return. read more

We ran a 10K and were hungry after. We were in the mood fir breakfast We found this place via Yelp app. This place was busy but had a short wait. The place was at the end of a shopping strip. When she did come, we immediately ordered our meals and drinks. Waitress seemed nice but maybe too busy to even realize we had been sitting that long even when we tried to flag down a staff member for assistance. We ordered the 2 egg breakfast, the "Burrito" and kids meals. Another 29 minutes later we received our meals. Our food arrived cold, potatoes stale, and unfortunately the burrito came sopping wet making it inedible. When we attempted to pick it up it fell out my husbands hands because it was so saturated the tortilla could be rang out like a mop. As we had already been sitting for over an hour, the last thing we wanted to do was wait for a manager and reorder something else. Very generous portions. I had the Athena plate. The eggs were piping hot as expected. It's a great dish. The only drawback was that the dish came with potatoes and they were just lukewarm, as if they were from a steam table. I simply need my tatters hot and fresh. On the front cover of the menu, there are smaller portion meals and that was just right and just the right portion size. I met a friend for brunch at this restaurant. It's a big place, with lots of seating, and brightly lit. It's popular as well, with people waiting for tables the entire time we were there. Our server was attentive, and quick to fix my order when my fruit cup included honeydew after I requested no melon. The omelettes normally come with an English muffin, but when I told her I didn't want that, she was quick to offer other sides as a substitute. My spinach omelette was so delicious! It contained spinach, mushrooms, bacon, and Swiss cheese, and they were generous with all of those. It was topped with a creamy hollandaise sauce and green onions. read more

When I was in graduate school in Alabama, my Saturday morning routine was breakfasting at a restaurant called "The Egg and I". L O V E D that place! They had tons of locations across Texas, too. Unfortunately, a chain called "First Watch" bought out "The Egg and I", and I absolutely H A T E it. I mean, come on, you replace a good old fashioned breakfast joint slinging eggs with a place that pushes more hipster avocado toast and grain bowls and other "farm fresh" options? Not that there is anything wrong with that... Anyway, I can honestly say that one of the hardest losses in my life was the loss of "The Egg". But, when I went to "Our Breakfast Place", it was EERILY similar to "the Egg", which was a welcome blast from the past. I'm telling you, I may just have to drive up from San Antonio more often - just to eat here. It's a bright, sunny ambiance that just screams "welcoming breakfast joint". The opted for my favorite skillet (pictured); it's scrambled eggs (or whatever you choose) over a bed of breakfast potatoes mixed with ham, bacon, cheese, covered in hollandaise. You absolutely can't go wrong with this dish - you're not going to leave hungry! The service was on point; the young woman who waited on me was pleasant and attentive.
