The front staff was super nice when I came in. It was my first time and the hospitality was certainly unexpected for what I'd expect from any other fast-casual restaurant. Order was prepared in about 5 minutes, well packaged, and handed over with a smile from Sharon. More than pleasantly surprised and the food was delicious when I enjoyed it at home. Chicken to breading ratio was great, crispy, and made with real white meat. Fried rice wasn't overly salty. Soup was nice and light, and the egg roll was not bland at all. And as odd as this may sound, the sweet and sour sauce was not diluted either! This place definitely took the top of my list as far as Chinese Fast-Casual. I was previously a long supporter of General Joes Chopstix on Westheimer, but their service and quality of food earned themselves a returning customer for sure. read more

This restaurant is essentially crazy good value for the money, without sacrificing much quality or flavor. If I would recommend anything it'd be the manager's special combo -- it comes with a ton of food and the options listed for the special are pretty varied. It's comparable to a Panda Express if you're trying to push away from the larger fast food chains. I think, though, the flavor is much better than what panda usually has... of course, though, it can be a very heavy meal so just watch out for that. read more

This place reminds me of a place I worked at in the 80's. It was called General Joes chopsticks, exact same menu, and flavor. I'm driving on 1-10 and I see this super small restaurant. Knew I had to try it! I ordered their curry chicken with fried rice. But honestly, it doesn't need rice at all. You can eat it straight up as is and it tastes similar to what Singapore noodles would taste like. They give you a portion size large enough to fee 3 adults. Perfect for meal prepping if your into that sort of thing! I split mine up into 3 separate meals! It's packed full of protein with an egg roll side. Love it!! I frequent this little Chinese café every time I visit Houston. Everyone in my family has been coming here for years. The food is always fresh . They have been in this location for many years and you can always count on satisfying your Chinese cravings after you visit here. When you walk in, it is clean. They do have an area inside with several tables where you can sit inside and eat dinner comfortably. A lot of people come in and pick up their orders or have them delivered to them via the various delivery services, if they choose not to eat there. The menu is huge and there is so much to choose from! Several varieties under each category! They always have dinner specials that will include a complete meal with soup, entrée, rice, and an egg roll. They are located right off of Freeway and easy to get to. Better than I expected! The presentation was great, the food was tasty, my lunch arrived to my table piping hot and the portions are big. They have a manager's special all day. It comes with an entree, rice (fried or steamed), soup (egg drop, wonton or hot 'n sour) plus an eggroll. The sesame chicken was tender and the sauce was very good. The eggrolls are great! They actually taste similar to Jack In The Box eggrolls - which I love! The space itself is a little bland. Some paper lanterns hang from the ceiling, but that's pretty much it for Asian decor. They have a soda machine with Coke products and lemonade. Tea and water are also available. I will definitely be back when it's cooler outside. I love Chinese food in the colder months. read more

I have visited this establishment off and on since 2014 and I was never disappointed, until 12/31/2024. I ordered pepper steak dinner,veggie fried rice, shrimp fried rice, general tso chicken, sweet and sour chicken for my family, all from The managers menu. ( I always ordered on that menu) I ate the general tso's dinner and later had stomach problem the entire night and the morning and this has NEVER happened before! I have noticed times I would visit and didn't see the friendly, older Chinese lady at the counter, so maybe they have changed management? but I am definitely sad they've changed. I use to drive out of my way for their food, but now you can't pay me to return. read more

Sometimes strip center restaurants can surprise you. Actually it isn't that much of a surprise often, they are not putting the money into high rent, but rather they can spend it on good food. I was very pleased with Cafe Chopstix, the food was quick and very good. The owner was very helpful with suggestions and politely asked us how things were ... you can tell she cares about her customers having a good experience. The Triple Spicy Chicken entree was excellent, and not a skimpy portion. I will be back, definitely a winner if you like Chinese food. They have the staples of normal American Chinese food, but also some additions that are not common, probably a bit more authentic. Highly recommend. read more

First time at Cafe Chopstix, the menu and food is eerily similar to General Joe's Chopstix. Not sure if these restaurants were affiliated at any point. I will say while General Joe's has gone down significantly in food quality, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and preparation of Cafe Chopstix. Tried the wonton soup, chicken egg rolls, crab puffs, and triple spicy chicken. The chicken is cooked perfectly and full of flavor. I was in the area running errands and decided to make a stop at the first restaurant I saw after leaving Joanns. The food was okay, I ordered the cashew chicken, the sauce was very thick and not that great, the hot and sour soup was missing flavor. The restaurant was very clean and so was the cashier. I decided to dine in, after a few minutes I decided to just take my food to go. The convenient thing is that the food is served in to go containers. After eating at home for a week, we decided to get some takeout for dinner on Friday night. Sure miss our Friday nights BEFORE lockdown and this damn virus. Since Chinese is the "go to" take out, we decided to make a run to Cafe Chopstix for dinner. We "over ordered" just based on the fact we were out and we wanted to make the most of it. We started off with the Crab Puffs, which were just "OK", not that great. Not the type we usually get at other Chinese restaurants, these were flat egg roll wrappers folded in half with a dab of cream cheese and no a hint of crab flavor. Not a good start, but we had plenty more to come. Their Pan Fried Pork Dumpling were excellent, freshly made and not over fried to the point of toughness. Typical dumpling sauce, not much to write about here. The Hot and Sour Soup was full of ingredients and flavor, my wife's only complaint was it needed more tofu (VERY surprising coming from here). Nice flavor, but need some spice to kick it up a notch. Had it the second day for lunch, it was just a good heated up as it as when I brought it home. We split two entrees to taste more of Cafe Chopstix's offerings. Started out with the General Tso's Chicken; it was dark meat which was a pleasant surprise, moist and tender! Sauce was flavorful, and had a bunch of dried peppers, but still didn't have enough heat. Not sweet like so many restaurants versions, really like the lack of so much sugar; also it was thinner than most. Hunan Beef was the second choice and it faired out well. Most Chinese beef dishes have meat that's tough and chewy, this was not, it was tinder and tasty. Better than most, but must have had two bell peppers in it. Definitely our new "go to" Chinese take out in the area. read more

They have really exceptional veggie fried rice. I think this is my favorite fried rice- they make it with carrots, peas and eggs and that's it. I really do think it's the best. They also have awesome self-serve unsweetened iced tea. I really like it. A drink of your choice comes with the manager's special, which currently costs a little under $10. I also had some crab rangoons. An order of 3 is a little over $3. They come with sweet and sour sauce, and I think they are pretty good. I had the manager's special sesame chicken with fried rice. It came with an egg-roll and soup and a drink. I told then I didn't need the soup, so they offered to give me more rice, which was awesome. I wish more places would be so accommodating. I tried to ask for a veggie egg-roll instead of pork, and they offered me a chicken egg roll because they said they don't have veggie, even though it's on the menu. I stuck with the pork... I'm honestly not a big fan of egg rolls in general, and this one was pretty alright. It was a nice and crunchy egg roll. I wasn't a big fan of the sesame chicken, but don't mind me, because I think it tasted pretty standard, but the breading wasn't as crispy as I would like. It wa super soft. The chicken itself was white meat and soft and juicy. It comes surrounded with spicy red peppers, carrot slices and broccoli, so that's pretty cool. I've had the general tso chicken here before, and I think I like the taste of it a lot more than the sesame chicken. So if you can't decide between the two, I'd say go for general tso. read more

I normally eat here during lunch but yesterday was my first time eating dinner here. I placed my order over the phone as a carry out. The lady was super patient and helpful. Told me 15 minutes and she definitely meant 15 minutes. The pro was the pepper steak. We requested extra onions and they were happy to give us all the onions they had. It was perfect and appreciated. The con was the beef noodles. I got that as my entree. I asked for spicy but it definitely wasn't spicy. The beef was hardly present because the noodles took over the entire dish. They were gummy and lacked taste. I definitely wouldn't order that again. I think I'll stick with my lunch visits. I recommend this place based on service alone. It's a little pricey but it's a good portion because I'm normally able to eat out of my lunch plate more than once. read more
