I've been here twice in the past week if that tells you anything. First for dinner. Kale salad and steak sandwich. Perfection. Second for Sunday brunch. Perfection again. The service has been consistently great - everyone is nice and pretty good looking. The food always comes out sooner than later and timed well. Drinks are also delicious. I live about 2 blocks from this place and have been 3 times or so, always for brunch. Great coffee, great hamburger (made rare which is tough to get sometimes) and good fresh vegetable omelettes. Probably on the pricey side but pretty standard prices for Williamsburg. The interior of the place has a bright french diner feel and is a nice break from the dark wood exposed brick of most places in this neighborhood. Good looking crowd too. I really enjoyed brunch here, although it is kind of pricey, $14 for an omelette and nonalcohol drinks were close to $5. Superb Brunch expirience!, been living in the area for 8 years and felt that the vast majority of eateries in my hood (north Williamsburg) are incredibly mediocre, Being a foodie I know that sharing is caring and a good food reccomendation can make your visit of my area a much better experience. this is the best spot to brunch in the 10 block radius, it's a great high end diner, probably one of the best you will expirience. Best burger i ate in Williamsburg, the best brunch food too. it's not a big menu, it's a bistro style menu of highly curated treats, incredibly tasty and wholesome dishes. they bake their own great pastries and serve my fav seatle blend coffe too, impeccable service and charming staff makes this eatery an exception spotl in my area. thumbs up and looking forward for my next time in. Walked into Cafe Colette for brunch this Father's Day weekend and was overwhelmed by the service and food! I walked right in and the hostess was extremely friendly and helpful. We were waiting a table and asked for recommendations. The hostess suggested the Oznot's Dish and Salmon Bowl. I also tried the Fish Tacos cause I love fish tacos. Was on my way to another location when we stumbled upon this very tropical bar. Has a small outside seating area with a very captivating inside dining and bar area. We stepped in to check it out and once you step inside it makes you feel like you are stepping in for a quick drink with the intention to head back outside to take another quick dip in the beach. The interior design is so cohesive and complementary that nothing feels out of place, other than the beach really not existing once you step back into the real world. The theme is Jamaican and the staff is very welcoming. We had the Oxtail Dumpling Broth entree and loved the dish. The Bartender recommended their signature cocktail the "Cocktail Colette", which was a beautiful flavoring of Gin and Rosemary. Due to the tropical feel I ordered a Mojito with Diplomatic Rum, great Classic drink well made. Trust, as a bartender, sometimes its hard to find a well balanced Mojito without it being too sweet or over juiced with fresh lime juice. The Vibe was right and the experience was a breeze. I get they're trying to do it Peter Luger style, aged and smothered in butter, but the meat quality wasn't up to par and the temperatures was off. It's a $15 bar steak at best. I'm only giving this place two stars because our waiter was a really great guy and did everything right. Went here with a date on Memorial day 2015 for dinner, at first everything seemed great, nice outdoor seating and again a great waiter but the meal and overall experience turned out to be pretty bad for a restaurant like this. The first strike against them is they ran out of the side dish on my order, that's okay I can live without fries to accompany my burger. What I can't live with is I ordered it medium rare (which pretty much everyone does) and it came back well done. Beyond that it was pretty much a "meh" burger, I mean why offer it on the menu if it's going to worse than every other place in Williamsburg? We also ordered a side of Brussel Sprouts, they were decent but towards the end of those we found a nice black hair in the sprouts... yeah thanks for that Cafe Collet! The most egregious event occurred in the middle of the meal, my date and I were chatting away and someone, a hostess or bus boy, came by to take our cocktail glasses without us noticing until they were walking away. The only problem is I WASN'T FINISHED WITH MY DRINK YET! WTF! It's bad enough you charged me $12 for an okay cocktail, but now your taking it away before I'm done with it. This younger sibling of Hotel Delmano can move even the most ardent anti-hipster to consider getting a Tennyson poem tattooed on their calf and grow a beard. As a fan of Delmano and the creative force behind its asthetic, I started going to Colette from its opening. It has evolved some over the years to accommodate reality and stands today as testament to the owner's foresight and industry prowess. BOOZE: it's not really a bar but it has good enough can/bottle beer. It has mixologist style cocktails, which I will forgive because they all require good spirits that I can get neat without fancy shacking and stirring. Wine list is more than adequate. Coffee bar serves amazing coffee - I know there is a lot of fancy brew out there, but these guys get the since just right every time. FOOD: awesome. The menu is innovative and food very tasty. It has a handful of well crafted dishes for brunch, lunch and dinner. We've eaten most things, including sides, and all are well thought through and executed. Congratulations to the kitchen. SERVICE: it's been an interesting ride. Service always has been acceptable to great. Staff are attentive and the vibe has ranged over time from crazy anti-establishment types to fashionable hipsters to pretty people making their way. No complaints about any. VENUE: the man behind this space and Del Mano has an aesthetic that is now universally copied. It's beautiful and the details that many may miss really make the space. Bar is low and like a lunch counter - nice. Main space is not huge with table/banquettes. High ceiling. Back all weather garden space (excellent use of what was an old garage?) and outdoor seating. But the best part was definitely the food. INCREDIBLE French toast--without hyperbole the best I've ever had in my life. So good that we ordered one to share, but decided to order a second round. I was excited to take a new friend who recently moved in the neighborhood to Cafe Colette today for brunch. We had just placed our drink order with our lovely server, when the table next to us jumped. There was a cockroach on the bench where we were sitting so we immediately stood up as well to avoid contact with it. The manager (I assume she was the manager) came by and condescendingly told us that "This room is technically a garage and outdoors." She then offered nothing but said we could be seated elsewhere in the restaurant but we'd need to wait because there were no available tables. No offer for a drink while we waited or any warmth whatsoever. She then said again that the room was an outdoor garage. This may be true, but that space is being used as part of a restaurant and there is a roach in it. We live in nyc and understand there are unwanted pests sometimes. Not mad about the bug - but this was not handled well and the tone and manner we received was extremely rude. Won't be coming back here - there are several amazing spots in Williamsburg to eat and enjoy great service at. read more

So, I've never actually written a review - but I definitely use Yelp to read reviews and figured my recent experience is worth writing about. This place seems super cute and it really has all the ingredients to be a great restaurant...that is, if you choose to put those ingredients to good use! But, unfortunately, my experience was short a few necessary components to a good dining experience. First, the wait was about an hour for brunch. But, even that is forgivable on a busy Sunday morning. Once we sat down, our waitress right off the bat was overtly underwhelmed to serve us and it was completely apparent. After she took our drink orders, she forgot them and asked everyone to repeat their orders. She then took our food orders, and when it came to mine, I specifically asked for the sesame noodles with tofu - since it normally comes with tuna, but I'm a vegetarian and tofu was an option. About 45 minutes later, our food came out, but mine was tuna sesame noodles - not tofu. I politely (seriously - I was very nice) told one of the other servers who helped deliver our food that I had asked for tofu. He said - "What, are you a vegetarian?"- which I replied with "Yes, and I had asked for tofu." He took my plate and everyone else started eating. About 10 minutes later, my plate came out and the waitress said, "Here you go...tofu sesame noodles." I was about to dive in when I realized that it was still tuna! By this time, almost everyone was done with their meals. I told our waitress that there was still tuna on my plate, and she took my plate again (no apology). Another 10 minutes passed and I finally got my plate with tofu. Of course, everyone else was done so I quickly ate and we asked for the check. To our surprise, they did NOT take my meal off the check, nor did they offer anything (like dessert) as a "sorry" gesture. I wasn't going to say anything, but the other people at my table insisted since the meal was wrong twice and they were very unapologetic. When we mentioned that we'd like some kind of check adjustment to make up for the inconvenience, she looked at me and said "You actually didn't ask for tofu." I of course said, "Yes, I definitely did. I'm a vegetarian, I'm used to asking for these things and would not have ordered a meal with tuna." She then kept saying that I didn't and got fairly pissed off. I was in shock. This was unacceptable. And, even though she may have misunderstood me when I ordered, I sent it back the first time and they STILL sent tuna out again. She basically was calling me a liar. She went to her manager and came back and said that my meal was removed from the check. Although they finally corrected the error and took the meal off, I have NEVER experienced anything like that before. Everyone at the table was upset. I used to be a waitress and would never dream of accusing the customers of lying. In short, the food is overpriced and the service is terrible. Overall, I do not recommend this place. It has potential, but again, it's not worth putting up with this behavior. read more
