I say one star. My fiancée says two stars. We had two things: pound cafe and a caramel macchiato. The pound cake was stale, which makes sense because it came off of an uncovered plate. It didn't have good flavor, either. The macchiato came in a small (probably 8oz) cup and was about 1/3 full and about half of that was froth. So, about 1.5 ounces of coffee/fluid. Really disappointed since Apalachicola has some quality restaurants and shops. This place is not in keeping with that. read more

Apalachiacola is not a metropolis of great coffee shops, and they possibly only have this one, but it was on par with some of the best I have had. It has the standard living room appearance, BUT it also has a great view of the waterway and the wharf. Yes, they have the long list of coffee drinks, but u had to try their standard whole bean coffee, so I could get a true feel for how serious they were about their java. The coffee was perfect; smooth, rich, and hot. The counter folks were friendly and were very helpful. They also had a large selection of cakes and pastries that were made in house. I gave the pound cake a whirl, and it was off the chain. I've been in town for 4 days, and I've been here twice already, and I'll probably stop in a couple more times before I leave. We have been coming to this place for years and highly recommend it. Their coffee is the best in the area, and their food is great too. I always get the yogurt, fruit and granola cup, but everything we've eaten there has been amazing. We stopped for breakfast. We ordered two breakfast sandwiches, a croissant with egg, cheese, and an amazing aoli, my husband ordered the egg, cheese, and bacon arepas. Both were fantastic. The croissant was warm and flaky, the arepas was nicely grilled and full of flavor. The orange gauva, almond pastry was a delicate balance of sweet, citrus, and texture. I ordered the Café con Leche coffee... Amazing!!! My husband ordered a colada (cuban coffee). He's lived in Miami and it's the one thing he misses... and this hit the spot. Gosh, I hate to leave a negative review on a small local business but honesty is important to me. Two stars instead of one because the coffee and the chai tea were good. I had a croissant with ham, cheese, and egg. The egg was runny, so you couldn't pick it up to eat like a sandwich, but you didn't know that in advance - messy. Couldn't finish this because the bottom of the croissant tasted awful like either really bad freezer burn or mildew. I had to spit out what was in my mouth and I couldn't find any dark spots on it so we thought maybe freezer burn. My husband had a biscuit, which they forgot to bring out, and when he finally got it, it also had the same off flavor as the croissant. What really "left a bad taste in my mouth" though were the insulting political-themed signs right in view of where you pick up condiments, etc. You shouldn't alienate half your potential customers with hateful sentiments, this shows a lack of marketing savvy or awareness. We considered going back the next morning to give another chance but we were so put off by the signs that we decided to go somewhere else for coffee and breakfast. read more

me and my boyfriend decided to check out this place when we stopped by appalach and we were not disappointed! we only got the beef tacos and an everything bagel and two iced chais and the tacos were the BEST tacos we have ever had!! the meat was so tender and juicy and full of flavor and the bagel was also delicious (not sure if its homemade or not) the iced chais were fantastic, not too sweet not too bitter. we also got a piece of guava shortbread and that was incredible, soft in the middle and crunchy on the outside with a layer of guava jam(?) in the middle. i definitely want to come back and try everything else on the menu. we might stop by again on our way from st george island. edit: we came back again and this time i got a cherry turnover and it was AMAZING!! unfortunately they were out of arepas, on my bucket list to come back and try them. i came back with my whole family (total of 6) and it took a really long time but it's totally understandable because they were busy and there was only one lady cooking (bless her). we waited for about an hour but everyone agreed that the food was totally worth the wait. even my dad, a picky professional chef, loved everything (and he is hard to please!) a must try if you're in appalachicola SUCH GOOD FOOD my favorite place i've eaten at in florida! if i could give this place 6 stars i would read more

We walked here for breakfast every morning! The light iced cafe con leche was incredible and not sweet, just a great cup of coffee!!! We had three kids with us and they enjoyed all of the food as well. Our favorites were the mojo breakfast burrito with egg, the beef burrito with egg, the mojo bowl, and all of the pastries were incredible as well. The reviews that complain need to realize that this little place is sometimes a bit overwhelmed with customers and people can go somewhere else on those days if they want perfection. I really wish I could give this place a better rating. My girlfriend and I stoped one Saturday morning for breakfast, we ordered a turkey blt with celentro jalapeño mayo with extra bacon and a coke . The sandwich was all bread no mayo and diffenitly no extra bacon. Also ordered NY bagel cream cheese salmon capers and onions. I wanted to like this place more than I did. I give lots of credit for a small owned business and the location was awesome. I loved the tables of all different sizes (meaning for 2 or 4 or 6, big and small.). I thought that the prices were very good. My two complaints are probably very minor and I realize that, hence the fourth star. They have a sign about bussing your own table to keep things clean. It was off putting to me for some reason. It had more to do with the wording than the actual bussing I think but I felt there was a more appropriate way to word it that didn't make me, as the guest, feel as if I was working. I also wasn't a huge fan of the espresso. My latte wasn't as smooth as I felt it could of been and I think the reason is the espresso had a burnt taste to me. A delightful little cafe next to the ocean. My family and I got a mocha, chai, and one of the scones. All very good (I especially liked my mocha - not too sweet, very strong). I didn't try any of their actual food, but watching other people get their food brought to them, it all looks extremely tasty as well. We came in on a quiet Wednesday morning. I ordered the cinnamon roll and my husband a scone. The atmosphere is quaint. We took ours to go. My cinnamon roll was drrryyyyy, and she never offered to heat it up for me. The scone was dry as well and lacked any flavor distinguishing itself as a scone and not just a stale bread. My hot chocolate was to watered-down for my flavor and taste, But my husband said that his mocha was just fine. Overall a disappointment. read more

A wonderful find for some of the best coffee around! The locals have found it and gather there for breakfast-you know it's good when it's a local favorite. There are home baked goods and everything is fresh and flavorful. We had the banana bread and a scone-both wonderful with the coffee. This may be the first time yelpers have let me down. With a 4.5 star rating, I was excited to try this place for brunch. Unfortunately, based on my experience today, I wouldn't return, nor would I recommend others eat here. The photographs of the Huevos Rancheros hooked us and that's what we intended to order. It's written on their "Specials" board right next to the cash register. Sadly, we were told that they were too busy to make them today. So we ordered a breakfast burrito and a bowl of homemade granola with yogurt and fruit. We were told there would be a 25 minute wait, so we also ordered a piece of coffee cake and 2 cups of coffee. Our coffee cake never came, so my fiancé went to check on it. They had forgotten about it. Once we got it, it was pretty tasty. The coffee was good, but rather expensive, especially since the mugs are small and refills are $1. We finally got our burrito about 35 minutes later. It was good. The granola never arrived, though. Once again, my fiancé went to ask about it. Again, they seemed to have forgotten about it. The burrito had already been eaten, so I was tempted to cancel the granola order. We waited it out, though, and over 45 minutes after entering the shop, the easiest thing on the menu (granola, yogurt, fruit) arrived. It was terribly disappointing. The granola was stale, and the pears weren't ripe. The meal cost around $35, which was much too expensive for what we received. read more

We have passed this place a few times but it's been either closed or just didn't seem like a place I'd like from the outside. I was very wrong. We decided to go for breakfast around 8:30ish on a Saturday. We had no wait. I got a cappuccino, extra dry, which came out pretty good. My boyfriend got a lemonade which we was adequate. The food was amazing though. I got a quiche which was loaded with veggies and creamy almost with a cilantro creamy dressing on top. Both my boyfriend and I dislike cilantro but paired with the food it was really good. Not overbearing. My boyfriend got a ham and cheese breakfast croissant and an apple turnover. This place is really great! It's a boutique and coffee/food place. I ordered a panini that was one of the few vegetarian options and it was pretty decent for cafe food. The drink I got, I don't remember, almond baby? Almond something. Anyway, it took forever to get it but it was amazing! milk and almond and sugar frozen drink thing. I want this forever. The only thing that kept me from buying my weight in home made jars of jams, compotes, chutneys and jellies was that I wouldn't be able to get them through airport security in my carry-on. There's a ton of stuff here that looks both tasty and like it would be a good present. The view is nice and they've set up tables and chairs outside to take advantage of it. You're RIGHT on the water. It's kind of hidden from the rest of town, so you're going to have to put effort into seeing it, no drive by here. I don't think I'd bring kids here, the boutique items are just laid out everywhere and sticky dessert hands all over the hand knitted shawl seems like "you break it you buy it" would get expensive fast. read more

This is probably the best coffee in appalachicola and st george island. I do have to note that my first time there, my coffee tasted really off and only a bit later when another customer had complained, did we realize it was bad milk. Otherwise, all my subsequent visits and coffees had been good. I am not going to say that it is the best coffee that I've ever had, but I will say that this is the place to get it whether you live here or are here on vacation. I pretty much drove out to Cafe Con Leche everyday during several visits to St George island and after also trying out all the other coffee places in town. After an unpleasant stay at the local Best Western, we opted to skip their promised 'full breakfast' that was sadly barely adequate and to forge out on our own. There is not much in Apalachicola for breakfast, but we lucked out when we found the Cafe Con Leche. What a wonderful little spot overlooking the harbor. It is not fancy but it is interesting, arty, and the food more than adequate. The owner has eclectic tastes and provides plenty to look at while you enjoy the coffee or pastry or have one of their delicious breakfasts. This was one of our favorite spots on a two week road trip. Go. You won't be disappointed. read more
