Really great place to eat. Their coffee is very good- my knowledgable barista wife gave their real macchiato a stamp of approval. I had an 'arepa', which was a very tasty sandwich of Venezuelan origin- I recommend it. We also sampled some of the pastries and found them worthy of praise. The atmosphere is very pleasant. Tamara (owner?) and Samantha are both friendly and inviting. Cafe con leche only loses a star for tourist-town prices. Given that their main competition downtown has even higher prices, that means that Cafe Con Leche is your best bet for breakfast in Apilachicola. read more

Cafe con Leche is my first stop every morning when I am at St. George Island (a short drive from Apalach). If quick is what you are looking for, this isn't it. Burned coffee. Burned cinnamon roll that was raw in the middle. Actually crunchy black... When questioned about it staff said "thats the way we serve it". Did bring a replacement roll, but left it at the wrong table... No comment, just dropped and left. Very disappointed after the other great reviews. And don't be in a hurry here either. Classic example of "hit or miss" place. If you're experience & food was good you think it's a great place & you will return. From my experience I will not take the chance again. The place is quaint & sweet, but we had several issues. The menu was hard to understand. Located in sections and in two different places around the room. The food menu was very random which in one sense is good, but I don't want a BBQ Korean sandwich with my coffee. We asked for water, but had to get it ourselves from a pitcher and pour in small kid-like plastic cups. We also had to bus our own table(per the instructions) by putting dirty dishes in a big tub on top of a garbage. We ate about 1/4 of our food and then left. Somehow, in the middle of a forest of slimy seafood joints, this place knows what spirulina is? It was a nice surprise. My friends and I were in dire need of something healthy to eat after a long spring break, and this place saved our day. The fruit smoothies with spirulina in them tasted bomb, and were a nice boost in energy. Also, the kale & sausage soup was delicious and filling. When we swung by there was a sweet man selling his beautiful looking baked goods which were unique and clever. I'm not sure if they are affiliated or not but it makes the stop even a little better. This place also understands gluten intolerance, so if you're looking for a place that will get it, you can trust them. Apparently they sometimes carry gluten free baked goods, even. Finally, if you're lucky, the barista will be singing along to gentle love songs while doing dishes. read more

It's hard to pass up their breakfast arepa : a griddle-cooked corn cake split & filled with a fried egg, bacon, cheese, and a splash of herb infused salsa verde. This rating is based off of the sandwich I had, I didn't have anything else there so I can't speak on the coffee and other food. But the pork cubano sandwich is hands down one of the most flavorful cubanos I have ever had in my life! And I've had thousands all across the country. This place is always fantastic. We have been coming for a few years (skipped LY as we were not in the area), and the food is always consistent and delicious. Ditto for the coffee and wifi. Highly recommend getting an arepa from the specials menu as they are always delightful. Had the Cubano yesterday and it was very good and the Asian slaw was tasty w a hint of spice. Their homemade pastries are worth taking home, and the owner is usually there and very accommodating. Their signage will tell you that patience is a virtue, and while I generally don't think patience is required, do know that everything is made to order and is very good w quality ingredients. Sally made my wedding and groom's cake. They were so beautiful and delicious! I almost cried when I at the wedding cake because it was so light and fluffy. I can't wait to take out the frozen piece we have saved for next year. They were fiesta themed cakes with colorful flowers and calavera sculptures on top. Sally is dedicated and focused. Her custom orders were perfect and her regular pastries in the cafe are consistently amazing. I'd highly recommend this bakery. read more
