HIGHLIGHTS: * Fresh salad bar at $5.88 per pound (just under 37 cents an ounce) is nearly bargain priced. The offerings are great, but you should get there by 12 p.m. (even 12:30 p.m. is a gamble) to get the full selection, which includes spring mix, romaine, spinach, raw tofu, tomatoes, artichokes, carrots, alfalfa, garbanzo and kidney beans, cucumbers, corn, peas, broccoli, bell peppers, dried cranberries, sunflower seeds, croutons, pasta salad, potato salad and much more. * The freshly-made soup of the day is always a creative surprise with random selections (they don't serve the same soups every week) ranging from ones that "sound weird but taste good" such as Fish and Rice or Beef and Macaroni to flat-out gourmet soups like Cream of Asparagus (one of the cafe's standouts), Cioppino, and several weeks ago they even had authentic Menudo. There is no coffee flavor at all, just this overwhelming bitter and sour taste. This is not just from being a strong drink, the taste I'm describing here just feels like something is very wrong. I ultimately had to throw it away because it was making me nauseous. Service: I had a bad experience with the employees here. The barista misheard me and gave me the wrong drink. When I corrected the mistake and told them I ordered a latte, they sighed and rolled their eyes at me. Then when they gave me the latte, they glared at me and used this exasperated tone of voice as if I asked them for something totally unreasonable. The cafe was empty at this point, there were no other drinks being ordered or made, so it's not like I had caused some major backlog or delay in their work. Afterwards, I realized that they were just in a hurry to get back to chatting with the other barista and sipping their own drink lol! Now that I think about it, I also didn't notice them washing their hands between drinking their own beverage and making customer drinks...so that's kind of gross.
