Hidden gem alert! TOAST is fabulous. FYI: TOAST shares a parking lot with Ken Sushi Workshop (Ken's was packed on a Friday at 12PM and they couldn't seat me for 20+ mins; being a solo diner didn't matter, so be sure to make a ressie at Ken's if you want to eat there!). But I digress, back to the parking. Be prepared to look for a spot to park, but atleast parking is ample and shaded. I left TOAST before 2PM and people were still driving into the parking lot! I walked to TOAST a little reluctant, seeing how it's inside a corporate building. Once inside, I followed the signs. The interior is a little sterile but it is a much larger and pleasant space than I expected. No music. It is very quiet inside. There is a pretty outside patio in the back that caught my eye but I chose to sit inside. The booth seating is very comfortable. This place is a solid choice if you're single btw. You can sit pretty much anywhere with your laptop or if you just want to read a book and enjoy some fine ass coffee in peace, you can! I love coffee and espresso, and it turns out their Mexican Mocha is quite the fabulous diva. The mocha cup is a glorious, oversized mug with the most delicious sprinkled cinnamon on top. It was hot, rich and delicious. I missed breakfast (it's over by 11:30AM, so I'll return to try their French Toast and their Filipino Breakfast burrito). I decided to get the "Ain't Your Classic Burger" cheeseburger, which is on the Sandwich side of their menu. That Chuck brisket patty, you guys... ooh, it's to DIE for. Tender. Moist. Gigantic. A whopper size of a burger with the perfect amount of melted cheese, pickles, spring lettuce (yay! No sad iceberg crap), chopped fresh red onions (my favorite), brown butter dijonaise (ugh so good), and a secret sauce that was actually worth being called a secret. I didn't add extras, but you can actually add an egg or bacon to your burger. High Cholesterol lovers can unite and rejoice here lol. it's worth noting how fresh all of the ingredients tasted. The brioche bun was a nice choice. So was the crisp spring mix lettuce, the juicy tomato and crunchy red onion bits. I ordered a side of fries and tbh, they were average. They reminded me of an attempt on McD's french fries. They did come in a cute stainless steel fry basket and it does elevate the plate presentation, but I might skip those next time. It was the cheeseburger that had my full attention here... well, and the delightful mocha. No pictures this time. I devoured everything. I think this is a solid cafe on this side of town. It's hard to find zero wait times, available and comfortable seating, fresh food, solid portions, and continual peacefulness in a morning/early lunch establishment. I'll be back soon. read more

Toast Cafe is tucked inside an office building, so if you miss the sign, you'll probably walk right past it. Definitely one of those "if you know, you know" spots. Came back here for brunch with a few friends, and the experience was just as good as I remembered. Everyone working there was incredibly nice, especially Larry, kind, attentive, and super informative. Stopped by this place after hiking Annie's Trail in Solana Beach. First time here and didn't realize that it would be in a building amongst businesses, but the set up is very pretty and relaxing. Ordered the apricot jam and ricotta cheese toast and their hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was rich and smooth... really good. The apricot jam and ricotta cheese toast was delectable! The jam was very sweet, but the ricotta cheese is put on thick and it balances out the sweetness. The atmosphere was really nice, both inside and outside. Visited Toast Cafe in Carmel Valley today (not to be confused with Toasted Del Mar). Toast Cafe is situated among office buildings, located on ground floor with indoor and outdoor seating spaces. The Turkish Breakfast (for 2 people) was so good. A little of everything ....pita, sauces, tahini, olives, feta, tomatoes, cucumbers, dill yogurt, apricot jam, side of potatoes, and 2 sunny side (runny) eggs...to make your taste buds drool! We also shared the Filipino Breakfast Burrito and Brioche french toast with maple syrup and fruits. Solid and delicious. There was even a wide array of coffee drinks. This is a very nice place to have a quiet lunch with friends. It's located in an office building and has lovely indoor dining area with lots of seating and an outdoor patio with more seating. Our friendly cashier was Larry and he told us about his special Turkey sandwich. You'll just have to come in and find out for yourself what modifications are made to their Turkey sandwich to make it special. Lol. My friend loved it! I ordered their burger with truffle fries. Finding this place was a little interesting. It's in a commercial complex consisting of mostly office buildings and a few restaurants. They did have good way finding signs once I got closer to the location, but I'm still unsure where to park. I ended up parking in a 15 min spot which was a little frustrating. The interior reminds me a bit of a Mondrian Hotel vibe. Very clean and modern. They were a little backed up today and the server seemed flustered and there was a line behind me so I didn't bother to ask about parking for future. Here, you order at the counter and they give you a number and you then seat yourself. This was not obvious as I went in to check on my tea and other couple in line asked me what they should do to get served as the server was back in the kitchen. The outdoor patio is spacious and lovely. They have a fresh herb garden and even great seating areas for groups, as well as individual and communal tables. I'm wondering if maybe they were short staffed today because the head chef (it said so on his chef coat) served my order personally. I actually really appreciated it. He was very kind and the presentation was stunning. I ordered the Ricotta Saffron and Apricot toast and ginger tumeric Rishi tea. The toast was fresh and delicious. I was worried it would be too sweet, but it was perfectly balanced with fresh micro greens and mint. The flax and sunflower seeds added great texture and crunch. 5/5. The tea was warming, fragrant and beautifully presented. It's relatively quiet here at the moment and would make a great place to remote work. The sounds of the birds chirping and singing makes me feel like I'm on vacation. My favorite surprise was the cucumber infused water in the self serve dispenser. It was so subtle and refreshing. The menu is limited, but everything I saw on the tables around me looked beautiful and delicious. This happened to be the closest spot I could find for a quick coffee and breakfast/lunch as I was driving through town and it was the best little find of my week! Tucked away in what looked like either a hotel/residential/corporate building, not even sure, but the signs won't lead you astray. The coffee menu had everything you needed. I went with the oat milk vanilla latte and it was good enough to finish before the ice melted, which iykyk. The food menu felt a little random. I wasn't sure in what direction I wanted to go with it. I asked the sweet gentleman behind the counter what his favorite sandwich recommendation was and he hit it out of the park with the Roasted Turkey Sandwich. I have not had a sandwich blow my mind in a long time. Possibly ever in San Diego. But this was it! Every bite had me shaking my head in disbelief with just how fantastic it was. The Roasted Turkey Sandwich, $13, comes with juicy, thick sliced roasted turkey, the freshest mozzarella, arugula, heirloom tomato, sun-dried tomato spread, balsamic reduction and mayo on sourdough bread. This cafe is conveniently located right near our workplace. Have probably been here over 20+ times. Service is top notch, servers are always friendly. Prices are very reasonable. The food is always delicious. I love the BLT, the cobb salad with their fried chicken and their specials are usually a fun new weekly addition. I just wish they would add a Caesar salad to the menu! The outside seating is particularly nice - quiet, and filled with lots of shade and plants. You order at a counter and take your number to a table of your choice. Amazing Filipino breakfast burrito!!! Typically I stay away from burritos as they are not my favorite (uncomfortable contortion of the jaw to get a little bit of everything in one bite is not my thing), but I saw that there was sisig pork with garlic rice in the breakfast burrito and I was immediately intrigued. It was quick to order at the counter and lots and lots of seating inside and out. We took our order number and selected a spacious table. The food came out quickly and it did not disappoint! The pork was so flavorful, crispy with the right amount of chewiness. I loved that pairing with the garlic rice, egg, and pickled red onions. This cafe is located in an office building but there's clear signage outside the building to direct you inside. There's plenty of seating both inside and the patio with breakfast served until 11:30am. The Turkish Breakfast is intended for 2 people but honestly I ate most of it myself. First, the eggs are delicious and perfectly cooked in dill yogurt and Aleppo chili oil. Pita bread acts as the main carb to eat with the eggs and toppings. Go to order breakfast a few minutes after they shut breakfast down and they won't accommodate anything. Their own customer service caused me to miss the breakfast deadline. Place looks great but wow this place is expensive. I came in for a simple breakfast potato order and was told I could order a side of bacon off the breakfast menu and nothing else off that menu. Was trying to carb up so I ended up spending $25 for one of the smallest patty burgers I've had in a while and brussel sprouts. I mean dude I'm not even trying to be rude, but you can see how small and unfilling this burger was from the attached picture. I didn't even know they closed breakfast at 11:30, but unwilling to accommodate a potato order a couple minutes after their deadline? Wow... I wasn't even ordering eggs or anything big. Just very disappointed. I've been here so many times and I came in before on a weekend to find them not open which it is what it is, but this visit really annoyed me. read more

We used to live around the corner from here. Don't let the "corporate plaza/cafeteria" feel of it throw you off. This turned out to be a great little place with friendly folks serving and EXCELLENT food (clean and simple). We now live about 10 minutes away and we plan on dropping back in for lunch again. Turkey Sandwich, Cheese Burger (complete with Bacon, Fried Egg, and Truffle fries), and splitting a farmer's salad was the perfect lunch for two (at a very reasonable price). Cons? Monday through Friday only. Would have loved to catch this on a Sunday but based on the location they are probably REALLY dead on the weekends. We plan on coming back. read more

Hidden between some office buildings, this place is a hidden gem that needs to be known about. Toast offers great breakfast and lunch options with a huge inside and outside dining area. The vibes are great inside and can definitely be a study spot as well. There is also plenty of parking in the lot next to them and there is no charge. I have not tried the main dishes yet but the truffle fries and The Elvis are amazing. The Elvis is a peanut butter smoothie that has chunks of peanut butter which I personally love but would recommend to ask for your drink blended more finely if not. The truffle fries were amazing as well and reminded me of a crispy McDonald's fry. It was a little small but made up for it in taste. The service was knowledgeable and they brought out the food to me very quickly! Overall give this spot a try I will be back for their main dishes soon. read more

Located in Carmel Valley on the ground floor of an office building in an office park is TOAST Café. I have seen other locations in Los Angeles called Toast, but I am not sure if they are the same owner or not. They have a very similar menu though. It's basically a café with limited food and drink options although everything is high-quality. It's not a traditional full-service restaurant, but we still had a nice experience. You order at the counter and then they give you a number and then bring it to your table. They have a handful of food options, but none are large portions. They have a very eclectic menu with Filipino, Turkish, and other traditional American options. Being in an office park, there is plenty of parking so finding a spot will never be an issue. The woman behind the counter was extremely polite, and all of our items arrived quickly. They have indoor and outdoor seating, but on this cold December morning, everyone was seated indoors, which is where we sat as well. Given the limited menu, I did not have many options, but for my breakfast I chose a Caramel Latte, which was very good and strong, just how I like it, and the Breakfast Sandwich with bacon added. The sandwich was very filling with plenty of egg and cheese and I overall really enjoyed it. I wish the menu would have more options, but given that it's a café I understand they have a limited kitchen and staff to fulfill larger types of orders. This locally sourced eatery is a terrific place and no doubt a hidden gem in San Diego. I stopped in for breakfast and ordered the breakfast sandwich, which came with three cage free eggs, sharp white cheddar, arugula, a chipotle aioli, on toasted brioche buns. You can add Nueske bacon to the sandwich for an extra fee. I loved that they used a soft scramble for their egg preparation. They did a great job on the eggs. They were light and fluffy. The eggs were very tasty, and the thick cut bacon was very flavorful and had a good chew. I loved that they took the time to toast the brioche buns. The aioli was tasty, the arugula peppery, and the white cheddar had a touch of sharpness. I had a cortado with my breakfast, and it was great. They offer a quality Italian roast. This used to be our favorite spot for a weekday breakfast. Today (Friday) I placed an order for pickup and received an email with a receipt saying the order was received, the sale approved, and to pickup at 10 AM. I went to pick up the order and IT WAS CLOSED! Why would it accept my order and take payment when the place is closed? Also I called to leave a message for the manager and the mailbox was full.
