It's in a business/industrial park area, so you'd never know from the outside, but it is an awesome space, especially if you're looking for a nice place to study or meet with people. It's very spacious, has a beautiful outside seating space, clean & upscale restrooms & multiple areas to sit in. The coffee area is right in the middle, and makes it easy for people to access. A truly hidden café tucked between office buildings, it's a bit tricky to find on Google Maps, and locating the parking lot can be confusing. I ended up parking on the street and walking in. Once inside, I was surprised by how spacious it is, with plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating. They even offer discounts for employees working in the surrounding offices, which is a nice touch. The staff were very friendly, and they have free Wi-Fi, making it a great spot to work or study. I ordered a latte, which was excellent, along with the classic avocado toast, easily one of the best I've had. This is one of my go-to spots to study or grab a meal. The space is very nice with tall ceilings, lots of natural light, and plenty of room to sit. It gets busy during lunch with the nearby biotech crowd, but it still feels relaxed and comfortable. Service is good, and the drinks and food are great. I recently had the brisket lunch burrito, which was very tasty. Balanced flavors and even better with the addition of the sauce on the side. Their coffee and teas are consistently solid too. They also have an outdoor seating area that is also very spacious and pleasant. My only wish is that Copa Vida stayed open later. Otherwise, it's a fantastic spot to work, eat, or hangout. read more

The aesthetics are one of the main reasons to visit. Parking is a bit obscure but you can park on the main road and walk over. I AM SO SO SAD. I initially found Copa Vida during the pandemic, I ordered back then the Avocado Toast and it was literally THE BEST AVOCADO TOAST I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE!!! I came back expecting the same and I was SO SOOOOO DISAPPOINTED :0( The avocado toast was bland, way smaller, no more caramelized onions, not much balsamic vinegar reduction, basil was cut way too big and there was way too much, the cherry tomatoes weren't seasoned. This place fell from such greatness. The Lattes also weren't special or notable, but I must say the interior decorations were top notch. Definitely a spot to chill and study or work. So I usually visit Yelp to read reviews. I've never left one before but I've been a regular at this cafe for a while and felt compelled to submit a review. Like I said, I've been a regular here, and wanted to share some observations I've made regarding recent changes. 1. It's seems there have been a lot of changes since I first found this place. Some of those changes have affected the quality and the experience. In spite of that, the beautiful ambiance and the friendliness of staff have remained the same. I would guess that there have been at least two management changes in the last year. The first apparent management change caused inconsistency in the availability of some items and simple things that a good service establishment should not be without, like napkins and ingredients. It appears they rectified those issues. It is also evident that they brought on a new manager, but that seems to have created a new set of problems. First, it seems to have resulted in staff turnover. A second and more noticeable issue is in the new manager, herself. She does not make a good impression. She seems to consistently have an attitude and demeanor that is not friendly. Most importantly though, she does not present an image of cleanliness and hygiene. I try not to comment on the physical appearance of others, but a food service manager should not look like she just rolled out of a parked car that she slept in and popped into work. She does not give the appropriate impression that one expects within an establishment that gives off quiet and understated class and luxury and is in the middle of a business park. It's also quite off-putting to see her in a hairstyle that is culturally appropriated and looks like it has not been washed in years. I pray that she never runs my food to my table any time that I see her dropping meals off to other customers. She should be wearing a hairnet. Most everyone else at the cafe looks clean, friendly, and groomed. 2. The staff that have stayed on are all still amazing. They consistently provide good quality, attention to detail, and friendliness that is unmatched. The newer staff seems to do their best and are mostly pretty good about acquiring the existing standards and mirroring the service skills from the staff that have been there longer. Like I said though, there was noticeable staff turnover and I really hope the longer-serving staff don't leave, or I'll need to find a new spot. 3. The coffee, tea, and food options are still good and that is where they keep me coming back, aside from the friendly staff and proximity to my workplace. I think the larger concerns are just management related, such as maintaining better policies and practices regarding: A. Staff retention - keep the old staff that already have established relationships with customers. B. New staff training - more structured and organized training so new staff is not just learning by osmosis from older staff, especially if turnover is an issue. C. Hygiene policy - A policy that applies to all, including management. I really wish this place would really reevaluate their management, their staff retention practices, and training of new staff. read more

Interior is super cute and chic, with only a few tables for single parties. There's some larger tables for parties of 2 or more though. There's also plenty of seating outside but unfortunately, I came after a day that it had rained and most of the seats (made of fabric) was wet. I ended up finding a plastic chair so it ended up working perfectly. There appeared to be some outlets inside as well. Staff were also super friendly and service was quick! On campus !?!? As a UCSD student, I still can't believe we managed to get a Copa Vida on campus. It's located in the new Sixth college, right off of Ridge Walk (a major walkway for students). I had the matcha latte with light ice, and sweetened with agave per a friend's suggestion and thought it was perfect for the warm weather. The flavor was great, and not as bland as other places I've tried. The service here is phenomenal, where I always feel very welcomed whenever I come in. This location is close to my office where I started working about a month ago. It was my first time here and I was impressed by the vibe of the place. There are plenty of space to sit with colleagues both indoor and outdoor. I was there during lunch and it was a bit crowded but not that I couldn't find a table. The food was great. The price was okay (a bit on the high side) but they taste good. The coffee was okay. I had a match milk tea and it was a bit too light. This location just soft opened about 3 months ago and they're still setting some things up (date today is Aug 26th, 2021). I came to get some work done so my point of view is coming how well this serves to get some work done/catch up with a friend. PARKING: You can park along the street and you should be fine (don't spill over to the red curb when parking bc they're very serious about it!) However, it was a bit hard to find parking since this is in a business area. HOURS OF OPERATION: It's 8 am - 3pm, Monday through Friday. Peak busy store times allegedly is during lunch (post 11am-ish) so keep that in mind if you wanted to find a spot. They do serve food too so the tenants around Copa Vida drop by for food. PATIO AREA: The patio area is SPACIOUS. A decent number of tables and areas to sit down (very few with outlets). However, the seats can be a tad bit dirty with leaves and morning dew due to the foliage/plants they have. Not really bothersome though since the plants contribute to the ambience. INSIDE STORE: Inside is very clean. A decent number of spots with a few being able to hold a large party (but these spots have no outlets). The seats along the right side of the store is where you'll be able to find outlets to charge your laptop. BE WARNED: there is still construction going on at this moment, so it does have loud ambient noise inside the store. Doesn't really bother me though since I just pop in headphones. There are bathrooms which are extremely clean (well, at least the men's are). COFFEE: I'm very basic and usually order just an iced mocha wherever I go but this locations iced mocha is good! The coffee taste isn't too strong in their iced mocha so that is something I appreciate. Overall, I'll say 4.5 stars for now because the experience was nice but the construction can be bothersome at times. The staff is very friendly, area is clean and well kept, iced mocha is good. Would recommend this place to do work earlier in the morning than later. read more

Copa vida is inside a bio tech building and it's honestly so nice and bougie in there. I love coming to study or work here because everyone else is doing the same, grabbing a coffee and on their computers. It has become my go to when I don't want to work from home. Their outside area is so nice and WiFi is strong out there. I got a matcha and it was a bit Mikey (I like mine earthy & strong) I asked barista if he can add more matcha and he re-made it and made it stronger! I was satisfied.
