Came here a few days ago along with my friend and our toddlers both 2 years old. When we entered the lady who attended us was giving us an unfriendly look and I just disregarded it and continued to order and so did my friend. As soon as we got our food we sat down on their couch and our toddlers could not stay still so they started walking around and at the time it us only us no one else was there so we let them but we had our eyes on them. I start eating and it was so so not that great however my friend said she felt sick and her egg was not fully cooked. I told my friend she should ask for an exchange something without egg and she is shy and doesnt want to ask so I do it for her. I go up to the cashier and ask and she said whays wrong with it and says we both go the same thing how is it affecting her and not me. She goes up to my friend and starts sealioning in a hostile and confrontational manner and an accusatory tone of voice. I step in to defend my friend and speak for her because at that point she was intimidating her. I gave her an example like what if her stomach hurt how do you explain that to another person it something that is different for everyone and different reasons anyways they were very reluctant to give her something else and so I asked if she could get a refund and they started talking in their mother language amongst themselves I suppose they discussed it and then told us they don't do refunds for card transactions not sure how true that statement was but they were unwilling too accommodate us and then finally agreed to make something else. My friend was looking at their menu and we were rushed to make a quick decision they were not friendly or patient with her. As we stood there waiting one of the ladies working there suddenly started to tell our toddlers again both under 2 to stop running around repeatedly I got fed up and told her I can do that she doesnt need to do that. The one making the food gets involved and says she can tell them to stop running because she has kids and I told her we'll their not your kids and I'm here and I can correct them, which I let my toddller walk around but I kept an eye on her and so did my friend and I made sure they were staying our of trouble anyone who had toddlers know how hard it is for them to listen or stay still. We were going back and forth about this and one of them says I don't want customers to complain and I told her there wasnt any customers and she repeated herself again and I did too. Then by the time the other lady gives my friend her sandwich she tells me not to come back. I told her I won't especially for this kind of bad customer service and I called her a bitch for how she treated us and she screamed bitch at me and lost it on me. I just think as a paying customer you should be treated with respect and dignity and not looked down on for asking for accommodation. This place is not family-friendly or toddler friendly the way we were treated was disgusting and unacceptable and there was no upper management to intervene or assist us. The food is and customer service is not worth spending your money on and giving it to people who don't care about you as a paying customer. read more

My daughter and I headed in about 10 am and there were two people in line. The menu was hard for me to read because the lettering was small but that's a me problem since I need glasses! The establishment was clean but lacked any character we felt. We ordered the Lexi Mexi with salsa on the side which had egg and avocado on it, and the pesto chicken both ordered on bagels. The Lexi Mexi was pretty underwhelming, but I was hungry so I devoured it. The pesto chicken was really good! Frappuccino was yummy but very sweet!! I was relieved I ordered the salsa on the side for my bagel because that stuff was extremely spicy! They do have several different types of egg sandwiches and u can choose to put it on a bagel or croissant if choice. They also offer regular sandos too! read more

Lunched here today and enjoyed a chicken salad sandwich on croissant. Fresh lettuce, red onion accompanied the mixed chicken salad, little mustard on the flaky croissant. Hits the spot! Some upgrades to menu boards - now tv screens. New interior paint. They've also got bahn mi sandwiches and breakfast plates too. Still modest, but ample seating. Been coming here for at least 10 years and in reading some of the reviews decided to chime in. I've never been disappointed. I've had plenty of bagel breakfast sandos, coffee and mini croissants - all which met my humble expectations. It seems like very few of the negative reviewers addressed their issues with employees here. I find they are hardworking, down to earth people who have been happy to make my requests happen. One of my favorite spots in the area. They have amazing croissants super flaky, buttery, and honestly some of the best I've had. They also offer a huge variety of bagel sandwiches and tons of coffee options, so it's easy to find something no matter what mood you're in. One thing I really love is that they sell day-old croissants at a cheaper price. It's such a thoughtful option and still tastes great, especially warmed up. There are so many different varieties of croissants here including mini croissants! All made fresh daily but they also sell day old ones at a discount as well. My favorite is a spinach cheese croissant They have updated banking systems such as Apple Pay. The workers are friendly and courteous without being overbearing. They have coffees and drinks here. I just don't get them. I come strictly for the croissants. The location is a cute Victorian house, parking is a little rough. You should pull around the back to get the best parking. Out front they have a giant chessboard, so fun! They have seating inside and out, not a lot but plenty. I used to come here with my mom like 30 years ago. Came in about a week ago with my BFF when we were in town and the place is bigger than I remember. My mom and I used to get the day-old pastries and now they're served in big plastic clamshells instead of individually wrapped. Still a good deal but you get more in one order now. I got a chocolate croissant and my friend got a toasted jalapeno cheese bagel with cream cheese. We were able to sit and eat right there at the cafe, and we both really enjoyed our food. Great portion sizes. Friendly family that runs the place. Even if you are not super hungry you can split the croissants with someone or save it to reheat another day. The parking lot is small and one way so you may find yourself walking around the building. Or circling in your vehicle for a spot to park if they are busy. They have smooth rich mochas and hot chocolates that rival chain drive thru coffees in the area. Highly recommend if you can spare a few minutes to for quality items in the morning. I ordered to go and got the Mexican melt egg breakfast croissant. The menu clearly stated scrambled egg, green chili and pepper Jack cheese, There wasn't any Green Chili on it AT ALL!. Instead a table spoon (maybe) of very coarsely chopped salsa . I'm not supposed to eat tomatoes. So I had to scrape it off. The croissant was heated by grilling it and was stained black from grill residue ugghhh! I also ordered two of the fruit filled sweet croissants The next morning I attempted to eat part of the Cherry filled croissant it had had so much sugar syrup poured on it that it was damp as if not cooked all the way. Barely any fruite inside, and hardly any taste. I tossed the soggy mess and attempted to eat the other. The Apple had a teeny bit of powdered sugar and had no taste or crunch at all. It also was undercooked the thick heavy uncooked inside dough was entirely flavorless . Gross in the trash it went as well. I will never go back. If you a good croissant go to the place over off Mendocino Blvd up the side street by Pete's Coffee and Kaiser. 1000% better croissant I read more

The croissants are not very good. Croissants should be flaky , buttery with bits of flaky pastry falling into your lap when you eat them. ( that's how they used to be when the previous owners the French owned it.) Now ... the croissants are sticky , doughy and barely pull apart , the fruit filled have barely a teaspoon of filling. I ordered one of the specialty turkey croissants to go. I opened the order when I got home and the appearance was sloppy. Lettuce, pickle and tomatoes were hanging out of the bread. I could not separate the sandwich as it was not adequately cut in half. It tasted awful and was smothered with way too much mayonnaise which was dripping all over. I could only taste bread, cheese and vegetables. I opened the half that I tried, and I did not see any bacon or turkey. I opened the untouched half and saw 2 slices of what looked like cheap white American cheese and gobs of bacon. All the bacon was put on one half. I called the store and the woman that answered told me that she forgot to put the turkey on. How does one forget to put turkey on a turkey sandwich? She told me to bring the sandwich back in and she would put turkey on it or give me 2 dollars for the forgotten turkey. I'm walking and this is not worth the hassle for me. She never even apologized. She said nothing when I told her that it was smothered in gobs of mayonnaise. The bottom piece of the croissant was not proportionally cut and most of it was on the side that I ate. There was very little bread on the other side. I have never had a sandwich maker this sloppy and negligent. This person obviously either does not care or does not know how to make a sandwich. I will not ever go back and I will recommend to everyone in the neighborhood to STAY AWAY! Go to Grateful Bagel or anywhere else. Update: I tried the other half of the sandwich. The American cheese is the same cheap cheese that Safeway deli is selling for 5 dollars a pound. I'm sure it came from Safeway. The bacon tasted very weird and was extremely chewy. I don't even know if it was turkey or pork. The taste and texture were so off that I could not even identify it. I threw it out. What a waste of money. Needless to say, I am pretty angry and disappointed over the quality of this sandwich and the negligence of the staff. She clearly did not give a darn. The sandwich was made under a minute. I was surprised at the time over the speedy service but now I know why. There are so many good sandwich shops in the JC neighborhood that are less expensive or priced about the same. Visiting from out of town and this place was recommended to us by local friends who raved about this place. We beat the morning rush and we're able to snag mini croissants as well as the larger savory size croissant and breakfast sandwiches! Despite it being a busy morning we got our food pretty quick. One of the best croissants I've ever had! We had so many left over that we had then the next day for breakfast and they tasted just as fresh. Really hope to visit again soon! We live so close that we keep giving it a try. Maybe 1 time out of 10 our order will be acceptable. However, after this morning, we won't be coming back. Croissants consistently burned (not toasted) or not even baked all the way and very doughy. Eggs overdone (how do you mess up scrambled eggs?), and the entire finished sandwich is a mess. Staff not attentive to customers waiting but instead talking to others. If you want friendly, competent service go to the one on Marlow Road in the Safeway shopping center. Today was last day I gave them my money. I've tried to overlook the quality but it's gone beyond fixing. I order a fresh squeezed orange juice every other day if not every day, they don't honor the stamp card system regularly at all. Around 10 or 15 years ago ownership changed and there was a huge change in quality. The croissants are now unignorably doughy and not flaky or crisp anymore. I've been trying not to post a review because it would hurt this local business but I'm sorry, you guys are ridiculous, selling old croissants, microwaving them instead of toasting them as shown in the photo. This is the 3rd time I get the same soggy croissants. I don't mind you serving foods & drinks from Costco, just serve them before they expire because these croissants tasted very old, I said Costco because I saw with my own eyes 70% of the foods & drinks you are selling are Kirkland branded which is exclusively owned and sold by Costco. How can you give your business a french name "Café Des Croissants" and you sell soggy old greasy croissants most likely you bought from Costco? And microwaving them in a residential microwave not even a commercial one? I also bought a spinach croissant the second time, same thing, soggy, greasy and tasted super old. The cafe is all right. Sometimes, the pastries can be a little underbaked, so I give them a couple of minutes in the oven. I had a little bit of a disappointment recently: for some reason they did not accept the Cafe des Croissants gift card. I wonder, if those cards differ by location. read more
