Strudel me crazy but I love this place! The first time I tasted their strudel was during the Wednesday Night Farmer's Market on 2nd Street near next to theater square. I was leaving a restaurant & walked right smack dab in the middle of the farmer's market. After drooling, I mean looking at the various flavors that Simply Strudels had to offer I ended up buying a whole vanilla bean strudel mainly because the person selling the strudels said that it can be kept in the freezer until ready to serve whether it be whole or just slicing a piece off to defrost & eat. I took my first bite & was sold, hook, line & strudel, I mean sinker! I had seen over the years that Simply Strudels had opened a store front but never had the opportunity to stop by as their hours of operation conflicted with work. But one fine early morning I happened to be driving on Petaluma Blvd., South & noticed the open sign & thought to myself "self, you haven't had breakfast so stop in & get some strudel." So glad I listened to myself! So on this particular day I opted to buy 2 savory portions (1 for that morning & 1 for the next day. Bacon, cheddar & potato and garlic, spinach potato) as well as one sweet portion (fresh meyer lemon cheese strudel). OMG TOO DIE FOR!!! The savory strudels were perfection, I mean I could eat those every day for breakfast! I that fresh meyer lemon cheese strudel was Heaven on a plate, so fresh, crisp & lemony! The place is not overly huge, there are places to sit & eat. They have various savory & sweet strudels for sale as full logs or a portion. Some may think the prices are high but you're getting a handmade strudel that's made with all fresh ingredients & you don't have to stand in the kitchen & make it, someone else has done the work for you. I think it's worth it! They also have a coffee menu so you can get a regular old coffee, espresso, latte, etc. Oh & if you're so incline you can order online for pick up in their store front or order via DoorDash for pick up in their store or for delivery. A great little spot to grab a coffee, listen to some chill tunes & relax. Was needing a cappuccino to start my day and strolled over to give this spot a try. Stepped in on a Saturday morning and it was empty and quiet. There were some delicious looking baked goods, but wasn't ready for a bite. Had a seat in one of the comfy chairs, while I waited for my cappuccino. They brought my capp to me. Nice! Cappuccino was perfect and I stayed longer than I expected because I enjoyed the atmosphere. read more

Tasty Latte It was very late in the day on a Saturday when we stopped here for the first time. The place was almost closed. We needed caffeine and a restroom! Sadly, the restroom was not available for customers, but the gentleman who was there was very friendly and made awesome coffee drinks. We grabbed our coffee drinks and jumped back in the car looking for a restroom, but I must say the latte was very good and I enjoyed it after the emergency situation was addressed. This place is literally the best place ever no exaggeration! The vibe is really chill and relaxing. You walk in and you're greeted with a very warm welcome. The owner is super nice with great staff! Someone brought out my order to me which was nice. Some strudels run out pretty fast because they're just that good. I would recommend getting there early or stopping by in the afternoon. You will have to find off street parking which isn't a major issue I was able to park in a neighborhood right next door to the establishment. I tried the Apple Cranberry Strudel along with a latte. The Strudels are hand rolled fresh so not a long wait at all. This coffee tastes better than Starbucks and the local favorite Acre in my opinion. We saw this place opened up recently and randomly decided to check it out, and were so glad we did! Never having had strudels before, we had no idea what to expect so we ordered a couple ready-to-eat strudels: one sweet, the vanilla cheese, and one savory, the bacon cheddar potato. The bacon cheddar potato was warm with super flaky, almost glass-like crust, filled with cheesy, bacony, garlicky potatoes - so good! The vanilla cheese was served cold. The filling reminded me of a cheesecake filling - super smooth, hints of vanilla, not too sweet, and a little tangy. This one is my favorite! On top of the delicious strudels, the staff were warm, inviting, and super friendly, taking time to answer all of our dumb, newbie strudel questions - a shining example of a locally owned business. Yum! I came in today and got the bacon cheddar and a vanilla chai and both were delicious. The service was also very fast and friendly. They're most famous flavor is the vanilla bean and I can tell you from a previous visit that it is soooo good. Today's lunch special was pork and sweet potato but it was too early for me to try that one out. My only complaint was the seating. There is one large community table but it is a high top and the chairs are very high. I am vertically challenged and they don't look comfortable enough to sit and work at which is what I needed. I think they would do better business if they did hanging shelves I stead of the bookcase and added small 2 person tables instead. I shared the feedback but this is just my preference and not a complaint. I really enjoy this local business and forward to going back again soon. read more

OMS, meaning Oh My Strudel! So good.... As a good friend of mine would say "Slap your mama good!" We had the bacon, cheddar and potato strudel. My only regret is that we only got half. Get the whole thing. Cherish it. How often do you get such a treat?! I actually exclaimed out loud when I tasted its light, flaky awesomeness. It might even bring a tear to your eye. The owner is friendly, hand-makes everything with fresh ingredients and obvious passion for the strudels he's making. Simple menu with a nice variety of hot savory and chilled sweet strudels. The Bacon Cheddar Potato streusel was tasty and filling, and the Vanilla Bean Cheese streusel filling was a lot like fresh cannoli. The small dining area is cozy and welcoming. We ordered 2 slices of strudel to share, a bacon cheddar and a potato spinach. The generous slices were crispy and flaky on the outside with delicious fillings inside. What an adorable little coffee shop! It's at the corner of H and the Boulevard. Very easy to get parking (unlike downtown), so that's a huge bonus! It's a block from a park ( in case you want to grab coffee, strudel and enjoy it there) I came in today for some strudel to go and I was so pleased! I got the apple, cranberry and cheese one---it was amazing. Crisp, lightly sweet flakey layers enveloping cinnamony apples, sweet cream cheese and pops of tangy cranberry. Incredible! I see why they won medals at the harvest fair. My husband loved the bacon, cheese, potato strudel! Can't wait to go back and try their other strudels (bacon, cheese, potato; mushroom tarragon; vanilla bean cheese and a few others). You can buy a piece or a whole log. Meyer Lemon and their seasonal Blood Orange. When I brought them out at the dinner the host said that all her friends in Marin were coming to Petaluma to enjoy their Strudel. Such an adorable little joint! I had just picked up some coffee from Petaluma Coffee and Tea Company, which they serve in this little shop, and saw a saw a sign for a new bakery in town. I have a problem when it comes to baked goods, I love them way too much. I stopped in and tried my first every savory strudel and absolutely loved it. I also had the pumpkin cheesecake strudel and that was delicious as well. The customer service was fantastic and the prices seem a little high but honestly where else are you going to get a delicious strudel made with the best ingredients? Sadly I have to rain on their parade for now. We bought their chocolate cream cheese strudel from the farmers market and it was great so now they've opened a retail space we were stoked. Sadly it was not to be. We started with a savory bacon and cheese portion, and a mushroom tarragon. They were OK and I liked the mushroom best - what spoiled things was the bacon and cheese was an end cut so basically all pastry and no filling. The portion sizes were too small for $8 too (given no side salad or anything). So on to the sweet strudel (a more reasonable $5). The lemon filling sounded great but it was borderline inedible - it was incredibly bitter (like it was made without sugar and using the peel mostly), and not pleasant at all. We would have taken it back if the front desk wasn't busy and we didn't want to poison the well of a new business. We put this lunch goes down to teething problems for now. Bottom line is this one was not a good experience. Hope things improve. read more
