I haven't been there in a while but it was very good I had a great salad. But when I ordered a Diet Coke and it came in a wine glass, and the waitress said would you like another soda and I said OK. Which I do not mind spending the money but she should've said there is a charge. $3.00 for a wine glass worth a soda. I own a restaurant we give double the amount and one refill. I mentioned it to the waitress. Not that I was looking for a bargain but if this happened to my restaurant the customer would be irate. The waitress said This is what it is, and I understood but she should've accommodated in the situation. Nit being cheap its principle. Overall excellent experience. The staff was extraordinarily friendly, especially the gentleman who served us, Rocco. He wasn't hard on the eyes either . The food was superb. I ordered the Veal Dolce Vita, which was tender, flavorful, and bathed in a delicious sauce. It came with a pasta side. I chose rigatoni a la vodka, which might have been the best vodka sauce I've ever had. The grandma slices are exquisite as well, with a thin, crispy crust, and a delicious tomato sauce. This place has every slice you could imagine! The bacon chicken ranch is my absolute favorite!! I always get an extra side of ranch for dipping . The penne alla vodka slice is like a combination of penne alla vodka and baked ziti and it's pretty good; I just wish it was more of a vodka slice. They also have a tortilini slice with bacon its soo good and defiantly as filling as it sounds. I've also dined there; the chicken cesar salad is huge! The pastas are also great; Alfredo and vodka. Dolce Vita's pizza is solid, but very expensive for what it is. I have been coming here for a long time, since I was in high school. At this point, Cafe Dolce Vita is a tradition-- whenever I come home, I'll come and grab a slice. It's $5.25 for a penne alla vodka slice of pizza (my favorite!). This being said, I love their pasta slices. The crust is absolutely delectable-- crisp, but still sturdy enough for the penne piled on top. Would give negative stars if possible. Had a terrible experience with a scummy cashier and mediocre pizza. Came here with a group of friends (we're teens) and ordered a pie. A regular pie costs $18.47 tax included, which is already over $2 a slice for incredibly average pizza. Honestly, go spend your spend your money at somewhere else where you'll get actually GOOD tasting NY style pizza instead of this garbage. So my friend gives the cashier a twenty dollar bill, and the cashier takes the money, does something under the counter, puts a ten dollar bill on the counter, and tells us that $10 isn't enough. Really? This is clearly due to the fact that we are a group of teenagers and he thinks he can make an easy extra $10 into his pocket. We confront him by saying, "Maybe there was a miscommunication or something, but we believe initially we gave you a twenty dollar bill, not a ten." Immediately, he responds saying "You think I cheat you guys? Why would I cheat a group of kids?" We never mentioned anything about him cheating us. But clearly it was on his mind, since the first thing he says to us is that he didn't cheat us. In addition, HE is the one who brought up cheating in the conversation. We ask to see the security cameras, since there is one pointing at the counter. "Oh no no you can't see that." No reason why. We ask, "Why not?" "No no you can't." There's no point in simply going back and forth. I want to continue the argument and look for his manager or talk to the owner and get him fired, but my friends tell me it's fine and there's no point in wasting time on this. We leave, frustrated. I frequent this place and have ordered pizzas for delivery on more than one occasions and it used to be better but the are not just exponentially increasing the prices and the quality is definitely heading downhill big time. The service is spotty and the cashiers are usually rude. I have tried multiple pizzas: cheese (decent), salad (chicken on it), buffalo chicken (spicy), pasta, fried calamari (bland), chicken and mushrooms, which is good. So last weekend I ordered a pie of regular cheese pizza. I was really hungry. I called and ordered at exactly 2:23pm, it's recorded on the phone call history and I talked to the guy for over two minutes, and the guy was friendly said that it would take about 35 minutes. So when by 3:09pm no one came, something was up, so I called and they said that I was next, they had a lot of deliveries today. It would take five more minutes. So I waited again so at 3:29pm no one came so I was pissed and called them again. The person who takes the call is a woman but instead of letting me talk she asks me can you wait on the line and hands the phone to a man after like two minutes. I tell him that I have been waiting for more than an hour and what the hell is going on and he says that I ordered only thirty minutes ago and said I was lying. Thinking about it now it pisses me off more. So I waited again and I called at 3:37pm and the lady was like what do you want me to do about it? Shit. wtf? finally the guy came. the pizza was barely hot. I told him what was going on, why did it take over an hour for delivery and he said the same thing the guy on the phone and even on the receipt it said that the cheese pie was ordered at 2:23pm. He kind of apologized but man, don't frickin' lie to me and say I lied. Never ever buying pizza or anything from this place. You guys need to step up and not treat customers like crap and call them liars when you can't keep track of your damn orders. read more

There is no pizza place that is any match for Cafe Dolce Vita's selection of specialty slices. The toppings are always fresh, unique, and down right delicious. The fresh mozzarella pie particularly, is out of this world. The balsamic vinegar and oil crust is perfect. The Italian dishes are just as wonderful- any and all pasta dishes especially. If I was writing this review in 2012, they would have gotten 3 stars. They charge way too much for a slice of pizza. Even the best tasting pizza in new york shouldn't cost 5.50 a slice. However, in 2012, the pizza here really could have made a run for best pizza in new york. Recently though the quality has really gone down dramatically. Great spot for lunch. Met an old friend here recently. I had chicken parm hero and she had a rigatoni dish. We both enjoyed our meals and also a nice glass of the house red wine. Service was very attentive and it was just a good relaxing atmosphere for a casual lunch. Reading some other reviews, seems there are differing opinions on menu prices. My thought is that they were reasonable - not cheap and not expensive. Not very close to me, but I would certainly come back if in the vicinity. read more

Outstanding Italian food! I have enjoyed the Wed. Night pasta special where you get your choice of pasta, sauce, and 2 toppings for $10.95 (meat costs extra). I've had the gnocchi, cavatelli, papardelle, and whole wheat penne, usually with Francese sauce, mushrooms and broccoli. Always excellent. They also make a wonderful Cranberry salad, with goat cheese and dried cranberries... I order this with grilled chicken. I also recommend the mussels marinara, baked clams, and cheesecake. They have all the normal specialty slices like chicken marsala, buffalo chicken, salad slices, etc. But they also have unique slices like tortellini alfredo with prosciutto. All of them are delicious though, so whichever you choose, you'll be happy. read more
