I went there today with mom and the puppy and sat on the patio. We had gotten a coupon in the mail and after seeing the excellent yelp reviews we gave it a try. . I lived near by for many years and never stoped. Apparently a very nice man explained he just purchased the restaurant a month ago and he has two menus. The old one on the wall is Lebanese and the new one is Persian. I'm not from the Middle East, I'm from the mid valley, so I decided to try the Lebanese kabobs with rice and a salad. We had three mixed kabobs , hamburger, steak, and chicken. Everything was outstanding! From the salad, sautéed veggies, hummus , pita, and meats. Mom said it's the best meal she has had for a long time! It takes about twenty minutes to get your order because it's made fresh. We will absolutely be back and will try the Persian kabob combo as well. read more

I have been coming to Cafe du Liban for many years since I was little. There was a recent change in ownership I believe but I was pleasantly surprised to find that the quality of service and food has remained the same. My mom and I came for lunch and the place was not too crowded--we were able to order at the counter right away and our food came out very quickly. For food we split a chicken salad and the chicken laffa sandwich. The chicken salad was just as we remembered. It comes with very generous amounts of chicken that will make you feel satisfied for hours. It is fresh, tasty, healthy, and there truly are no words to describe how heavenly the combination of the sumac with the juicy grilled chicken and dressing is-- 10/10 recommend this dish as it is a classic and still lives up to the hype! The chicken laffa sandwich was also pretty good! The filling has a nice mix of flavor/texture with the grilled chicken, tomatoes, pickles, and delightful garlic sauce. Portion size is also generous and the flavors themselves remain the same as before. I will note though that I did notice there has been a slight change in the bread (at least on the instance I went.) This laffa sandwich has been my go-to meal here ever since I was young and I think they might have swapped the bread to store-bought lavash instead of the freshly baked laffa they used to have before. There are both pros and cons to this: on one hand I certainly miss the doughier and chewier consistency of the laffa which always made it feel very special and satisfying to me. However, the lavash still does a decent job: it might be a bit less messy, holds the contents better, and it feels a lot lighter on the stomach. I also think it takes less time for it to be prepared now since the bread does not have to be made from scratch after you order, which is better considering this place has shifted towards a more "fast casual" style. I will say though that the fresh laffa will be dearly missed (nothing wrong with the new bread, I'm just coming from a place of emotional attachment.) Overall, Cafe du Liban is still a wonderful spot for a quick, healthy, filling lunch and I would recommend to anyone who likes Mediterranean food! Their kabob plates are also top tier, although I did not get one this time, they are amazing and might become my new go-to in lieu of the laffa sandwich. Thank you for a great experience once again! Came here for an early lunch today, first time here. Our regular spot is out of business apparently, so we decided to check this place out. You go inside and order yourself. The guy working there had no mask on, which is fine with us, but maybe not others. I had the chicken kabob plate and my friend had the beef. The rice was like a boxed pilaf not a basmati rice. Chicken was kind of bland, but my friend said her beef was good. Hummus was tasty. They didn't have any iced tea just a few fountain soda's. We had to ask for pita bread. Noticed a few people go in after us, some masked some not. Nice little outdoor area to eat. Not sure we would come back as it wasn't anything special. read more

I can't say enough good things about the food and service here... always fresh, hot and on point. Nick always goes above and beyond to take care of my mom and I... we love the lentil soup here, so flavorful and savory; reminds us of home. We had the good fortune of also meeting Milton, who treated us like family. Would like to try more things on the menu, but the salads and sandwhoches are so good, its hard to branch out. Been coming here for years but had not been in the past couple years. Happen to be driving on Ventura and saw the sign. Mouth started to water, therefore saved myself from having to go shop to prep dinner. Ordered to go, expect a wait as it's freshly cooked. The food is really good and tastes traditional. Check in on Yelp for free baklava (fresh with walnuts & cinnamon). Forgot how much I like their food and of looking for Halal meat .... the shawarma is halal. Finally decided to check this place out. I struggled more than I should have between giving it a 3 and 4. First the bad. $18 for a gyro plate was kind of a lot. Especially since I thought it would come with hummus, it didn't. It came with some pickled veggies which I thought were kinda dry and a generous portion of house salad which wasn't very good. Whose fault was it for ordering a house salad? Mine. It's rarely good anywhere so I won't knock it here. Maybe I should have gotten rice instead but I don't like rice unless it's integral to a dish, personal preference... especially since I got enough carbs in the store bought pita it came with. Despite the negatives, I thought the gyro was cooked very well, the texture was quite nice and I could have eaten a lot more of it. The portion size wasn't great, but it was tasty. Considering the most important thing was good, I'll bump it up to a 4. That's kind of the point for me. Also the area itself isn't flourishing with amazing options, so that helps this stand out a little more too. If I came here again I would just get a wrap and dip it in sauce and I think that would be pretty great. I also had the fish dish but didn't take a picture of it. The gyro dipped in the spicy fish sauce was very good. I feel kinda cheating bumping it up on a dish I didn't even get (a wrap), but I'm confident it would be good based on eating the meat with pita and sauce. Still 3.75 would be my score. Better bread and sides could bump this up .5-1. read more

Absolutely incredible flavor! So much passion and effort put into these plates. And quality meats I can tell because when I took a bite out of the steak and chicken, it is like butter, so tender, juicy and soft. I cut the meat up with my fork! I'm so glad I found this place on yelp because it's very hard to find places that still really serve quality food these days that actually taste fresh and flavorful. Ordered 2 chicken wraps and 1 lentil soup. The chicken was dry, the tomatoes were mealy, the laffa was falling apart, and the whole thing just tasted like pickles and garlic sauce. On top of that, the wrap appeared to have been thrown together in about 3 seconds with absolutely no care or attention to detail. Literally one half of the wrap had all the chicken and the other half had almost none. Additionally, the lentil soup was the worst I've ever had. It was extremely watery and bland. Just tried this place for the first time tonight. Due to covid, we called and placed our order for pickup. We ordered the beef shwerma fries, 3 meat combo plate (all chicken), vegetarian combo meal, and lentil soup. 20-25 mins later our order was ready for pickup. As soon as my husband brought it into the car my mouth was watering by how delicious it smelled. We got home and devoured as much as we could. We have leftovers for days! They even gave us extra pita which was so sweet. I love making my own pita sandwiches so it was a nice surprise. We loved everything! I thought it would be better based off the good reviews. However, I was disappointed. The food wasn't amazing or good. It was just okay. The beef shawarma was great until you tasted the meat. The meat was dry and chewy; it was well done for sure. It ruined the shawarma and then it kind of ruined the beef shawarma fries as well. My husband had the chicken koobideh. Sadly, the rice could of used more seasoning. The chicken was not bad. Luckily, it was not dry like the beef shawarma. Overall, the chicken koobideh was overpriced for the quality that we received. The owner and kitchen staff were really friendly and had good service. Don't think we'll be back tho. read more

I really wanted to like this place! My parents live in the neighborhood and I've seen this place for years and always wanted to try it. My parents have gotten some coupons in the mail and I said why not grabbing something for dinner before I drive back home. I went with my coupon and I was informed that I have to order the premium kebab not the regular. I said ok. I don't eat much meat and I really wanted fish. There was none on the premium menu so I said ok... chicken it is. It was get 1 get one free. I paid $24 for both plates. I was told it will be a 20 min wait. Well it was 35 min wait. As I am waiting for my food I see the guy who took my order putting my pita bread in a bag with NO gloves! I look inside the kitchen and NONE of the kitchen stuff have gloves on. I felt that was unsanitary and it's regulation when working in a restaurant in the kitchen to wear gloves. I come home with the food and I was disappointed. When I opened my chicken plate to see what my food look like for $23(which is what it would usually cost without the coupon) it wasn't it. The rice was good but the chicken was dry. As far as my vegetarian plate I loved the hummus but everything else was mediocre. The baba ghanoush was watery and I didn't like it at all. I am giving 2 starts because stuff was friendly and owner was nice. I wouldn't leave a review cuz the food was bla or even the longer wait then expected. I would of taken the L and go back to my usual Mediterranean restaurant. BUT NO gloves and working with food is completely unacceptable. read more
