Evergreen is a real gem in this small beach town. It's easy to overlook from the street, but it's a great location on your way to or from the beach or shops in Downtown Venice. The restaurant has a juice bar up front (with slightly earlier hours during the week), and a market around the back. The atmosphere inside is clean and relaxing with a fireplace, big windows, and a wall of greenery. There always seems to be a lot of people working here, which means you are well taken care of - food arrives promptly and drinks are refilled. The food is delicious, organic, and mostly light-tasting. The kind of food that is flavorful, fresh, and filling, but not in huge (double/triple?) portions common in America. So you leave feeling satisfied and peppy, not sluggish and hating yourself. We've been in town about a week and have eaten here for dinner, lunch, and breakfast, along with a bonus stop for juice to go. This trip is about relaxing and rejuvenating and I'm so glad to have food options that can help me in this goal instead of fried, processed, preservative-laden junk! It seems like lunch is their busy time, so later in the week you may try to arrive at off-peak times. Breakfast on Sunday morning was not crowded. Specific food we ordered: butternut squash ravioli (vegan) with a fresh side salad was excellent, filling and with a good flavor and texture. I'm a meat eater and didn't feel like I was missing out. Quinoa cakes were cheesy and accompanied by a light dressing. They fell apart a bit, but were not too difficult to eat. Interesting texture and good flavor, especially thanks to the sauce and greens. I had these with a cup of soup for lunch. Cranberry pecan pie was a tall, thick wedge of mostly cranberries with a few pecans. This was definitely not what I was expected, but was completely delicious and apparently low calorie. Good to share. Temple Tonic smoothie - my favorite. No banana to overpower the drink. Great consistency thanks to high grade equipment at the smoothie bar. They even got my mom hooked on wheat grass juice! Prices here can't be beat for fresh, homemade, organic food. This place is consistently good. We visit the area annually, and we have been coming to Cafe Evergreen since they opened several years ago. The menu is creative and thoughtful, the ingredients are fresh, and the service is friendly. On this particular dinner visit, we enjoyed their Tuesday two-meals-for-$30 special-- that's four courses for two people for $30!! The falafel and quinoa cakes were delicious. The kale potato soup and thai salad were excellent. The eggplant "parm" and chicken noodle dinners were flavorful and yummy. They even included two little mousse dessert cups, (chocolate and peanut butter chocolate, vegan and scrumptious!). We really enjoy this place, and hope you will, too! Came to this place and was excited about he menu. The upsetting situation is the waitress never came back to follow up with us and never asked if I wanted another beer. The waitress also recommended avocado on the vegetarian Reuben but failed to tell me it was $3 more. The Reuben was not that great To state with and I've had this kind of sandwich before at other restaurants. It was a disappointing experience. I ate there this past wed with my wife and son. I'm from California and their food reminds me of there. I like the seaweed noodles. Mom always has the salmon. Dad was glad there was a steak. Very tasty, I love the smoothies too. Mmmm mango. Nice open atmosphere, not too loud, sometimes the music is kinda loud, if you sit under the speaker. Small dining room and service is not speedy. Their smoothie bar is full of tantalizing concoctions that make decision making a chore. They also have my personal fav...wheatgrass shots with a natural foam on top! The Avocado Salad is huge and could be shared if you were not very hungry. I was hungry so I ate the whole thing. And get this - they bring complementary edamame beans to the table! Delish!!! Came here on a Friday and had never been. Drove into the parking lot, which looked empty but a tall thin older blond woman was walking into the building, so we asked if they were serving breakfast. With a smirk on her face, she nods her head yes and continues to walk in. It was early and I'm thinking okay maybe they're still not open yet so we walked in and figured we'd wait. There are two ladies and a gentleman behind the counter looking at us and talking amongst themselves. We stood there in front of them for ten minutes without a greeting or a question from them. Finally, one of the ladies asks if we're here for breakfast and we answered yes then she tells us that they only serve breakfast on Saturdays. So first of all, why didn't they tell us that when we first walked in, I know they saw us because our eyes met? Secondly, why isn't that information clearly stated on the website or anywhere else for that matter?! As for the smirky woman, she was just rude and couldn't care less what we were walking into. We're not tourist and we're always looking for new healthy alternatives. I read the reviews, looked at their menu online and it looked like a place I could happily spend my money in since we live nearby but after this incident, I don't think I want to give them my business. read more

I stopped in with a friend for the Savor Sarasota menu and we both ordered the Thai chicken salad with grilled falafel and quinoa cakes as appetizers. The falafel was gritty, as in grains of sand imbedded in it - perhaps the chickpeas hadn't been properly rinsed? A complaint to the wait staff brought only the response that chickpeas were often gritty. The chicken salad was mostly cabbage, with a meager serving of cubed chicken that was tough and flavorless - certainly not organic and fresh. The peanut sauce was barely there. The only saving grace to this meal was the sublime 'shot glass' chocolate and peanut butter mousse dessert. Unfortunately, it was not enough to entice me back to Evergreen again. read more

The food is as fresh as fresh can be. I adore the Raw Avocado Sliders. The roasted Cauliflower will keep you coming back. But my piece de resistance is their Roasted Beet Reuben. I grew up in Venice and am sad that Cafe Evergreen popped up AFTER I moved away. This is my absolute favorite restaurant!!! I come to eat here every chance I get when I visit my mom - her and I often eat here together. Their diverse menu is healthy, delicious, and full of solid vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options. They have something for everyone at fair prices! Not to mention, the atmosphere is relaxing and the staff is friendly. As a long time loyal customer of cafe evergreen, I write this with disappointment. A few reasons for this review, For being a "healthy" concept, the menu is lacking evolvement. Serving items like American cheese, doesn't really embody a truly healthy restaurant. CE could very easily integrate a plant based cheese (not a common chain brand), and some other plant based menu items that would add some flavor and creativity to the menu. They really do a great job on the drink menu. If they could incorporate some food menu creativity and innovate to "keep up with the times and trends" a bit more, this would make a huge difference. Servers/service- they are friendly, but seemingly behind in some of the regards listed above and not the most professional when not at the table (taking masks on and off) + I could hear the server talking about our table when we asked about an item that came to the table not as originally described. For all of the feedback above, it's a bit overpriced. read more
