Service friendly and great to excellent- our breakfasts were tasty but to be honest, they were basically the same as many hundred other Greek style diners in the greater Chicagoland area. Other reviewers mentioned that parking is somewhat of a problem- we had no problem on a Sunday mid-morning. Heck the Arlington Heights Metra station lot is right across the street... A solid pick if you are hungry and don't want a long wait in some of the fancier and pricier breakfast places in the western 'burbs.

I really liked this little breakfast/lunch joint. I had a great breakfast of ham 'n eggs with a very generous portion of ham off the bone, perfectly cooked eggs and crunchy potatoes. See my pic. I was there on a Saturday mid-morning and by the time I left there was a short line. I'll bet Sundays are really busy. They also have counter seating and you can see the grill chef work their trade. Great service too.

    Strawberry crepes

I'll echo Kensey W's thoughts on Village Grill - the portions are definitely generous, but the food itself is kinda meh. My crepes were pretty floppy and spongy and the filling (strawberries) were likely unfrozen at the last minute. Thus, I didn't find any wow factor in my breakfast. That being said, there are some redeeming qualities about this locally run diner. Hubs' omelette was giant and super affordable, the interior, while a bit dated, was clean, and the service was friendly and very, very fast. Our food came out in less than 10 minutes when we visited before the church crowd on a Sunday morning. I'd give Village Grill another go, but I'd opt for something other than crepes next time...probably something eggy and cheesy.

Nats were swarming around our food, the restaurant is outdated. Service was good, but overall the restaurant was dirty.

How did it…read moreturn out, let's find out: Ambiance The Sratchboard kitchen has a bright and welcoming decor. The lighten in the place was warm. And the music seemed similar to a club beat but not obnoxiously loud. Service The service was great. Our server gave us some recommendations and the staff seemed pretty nice. The food itself did not take too long to come out. Also, when there was a mistake with one of the orders, it was taken care of without any issues. Food Fried potatoes This was a recommended side. The potatoes themselves were crispy with a fluffy middle. It came with a spicy mayo type of dipping sauce which tasted good other than the fact that dipping the potatoes in it did not really get that much sauce on them. I would recommend this side dish. French onion grilled cheese The French onion grilled cheese is a very tasty dish. It has the sweetness of the caramelized onion and nice cheese pull. It is a rich dish so eating cause food fatigue. We got it with bacon. It was good but not really necessary. Crispy chicken sandwich This is the chicken sandwich seen on tiktok. The cutlet is thick and it was fried with a light coating. The chicken sandwich was juicy. I think mine might have needed a little more seasoning (my own preference). Overall The scratchboard kitchen is a nice place to go and have a bite to eat. It has a nice array of food and drink options. I would recommend at least trying the food and enjoying the ambiance and service.

They gave me a sample that was effectively a full pour. LOL. It was great. I ordered another. How could you not? Nobody complained about their food. It was fine. They need to expand their menu. Other than the menu and the street, it was a nice experience.

It is so soft with a little crunch on the outside . Plus it's not TOO much bread . Their turkey is great along with the oil and pickles. Definitely would get it again. End it with the cannolis.. omg prob the best I've had in a very long time ! The shell was thicker and didn't fall apart when we tried to eat it . The only downers are their hours and one of the workers . It's a Hispanic woman who took our order over the phone , she let him know by her tone she wasn't looking g forward to heating the soup . He called from the car on the way and was told 20min. He got there sooner than the 20min mark and she started bitching in Spanish !!! Saying , "Is this the guy for the soups? I told him 20min wtf is he doing here already ?" People should be very careful bc you never know who is in your restaurant, sorry honey he knows Spanish and replied in SPANISH , "It's ok I'll wait !" She looked at him like a deer in headlights and went to the back. He laughed it off but it was extremely rude , it's warming up soup lady it's not rocket science and the stove does all the work . If that's too hard for you , maybe you should find another job bc your lame attitude isn't professional or cute !!!

Out of curiosity, I decided to check it out. Located across from the railroad tracks and near the Metra station, Dario's is a local institution that serves up tasty sandwiches and more. I liked their sandwiches options on the menu. The variety was good. I ordered their Fiesta Panini that's made with pulled pork, habañero aioli, muenster cheese, red peppers, red onions, and avocado. I wanted something to drink and I saw that they have homemade lemonade with cool, different flavors. I got me a small Guava Lemonade. My panini was freshly prepared. It had a good flavor w/ a nice kick of heat from the habañero aioli (but not spicy in the typical habañero flavor sense). The pulled pork was delicious in taste and texture along with the toppings of muenster cheese, the habañero aioli, red peppers, red onions, and avocado. I should've eaten only one half of the sandwich but I couldn't resist having more, so I finished it. The panini was darn delicious. I liked the restaurant's cozy dining area with outside light coming in. They have a nice patio area as well which would be perfect to sit at on a nice weather day. The staff were friendly and helpful. I liked Dario's a lot and will be going for more. Check them out.
